[U.S. Redraws World Oil Map] A shale-oil boom will help the U.S. overtake Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest oil producer by 2020, according to the

[Slim Shady] Is there anyone living on Big Pine key that is not a wrong doer? Wow, it seems everyone is doing something underhanded.

Most of you probably know by now that a fire destroyed a home (and boat, motor home, and tools, pretty much everything) on Ramrod Key on Sunday night.
Fortunately the owners and their dog were able to get out in time thanks to neighbors. Does anyone know if there has been a fund set up for these folks or
what they need and where it may be donated? I’ve had a lot of folks, both on and off island, ask what they can do to help. If anyone knows, would you please
post on the Coconut Telegraph so we can spread the word. One of the wonderful things about living in the Keys is our sense of community — neighbors helping
neighbors.

[Moringa] Can anyone tell me if the deer eat the Moringa tree. After reading such great thing about it I want one, but need to know if I can plant it without a
fence around it.

[Down With Pot] Yeah, lets make weed legal! As if people are not stupid enough. What are you thinking? That it makes you smarter? Grow up.

[Crossing the Aisle] Florida Gov. Rick Scott, one of the most vocal critics of the federal health care overhaul, is dropping his staunch opposition to the law. He
now wants to negotiate with the federal government. He said it’s time for Republicans to offer solutions to help families after they lost their bid to defeat
President Barack Obama.

[Crook] The director of the Florida Keys Wildlife Rescue on Big Pine Key is accused of shoplifting about $130 in clothes from the Navy store on Friday, according to a Key West police incident report. Maja Totman, 54, of Big Pine Key, was charged with one count of misdemeanor petty theft.

[General Petraeus a Stud]  You are absolutely correct, it is totally about power. As I now see him blasted all over the TV, I can’t help but view him as kind of a hot, sexual, middle age man when previously, he was the Presidents military nobody. Every woman in America wants to know what his secret is because those are 2 attractive young women. It totally has to be about his position of power and importance. And really, the good General’s wife had to know this could happen if she didn’t make the effort to uhhh, maybe try some Botox and a little lipo. Money surely wasn’t an issue. Did that sound bad? He kind of reminds me a little of a Napa parts guy we all know. I wonder what he would look like in camo.

The world will end in 39 days on December 21st.

[Boat Broker] To the person who wants to sell his 20+ ft. center console boat. I can highly recommend Action Marine on Big Pine Key (305-872-8996).
Honest, reliable and they will get your boat sold in a reasonable time. I have used them twice and have been very pleased with their service.

If Bill Clinton, serial sexual predator, accused rapist, felon, dis-barred attorney and receiver of blow jobs in the Oval Office from an immature twit of an intern
can get a pass, then General Petraeus is a Boy Scout in comparison and should get a pass too. But, of course, the media will be on like a locust in a wheat field
because they just love a cheap headline no matter how cheap as long as it sells copy.

In 1889, New York World reporter Nellie Bly set out to travel around the world in less than 80 days, inspired by Jules Verne. It took her 72 days.

The act of voting ought to be, and needs to be, as effortless to do as anything you can think of, except in Florida. However there is a huge number of
unaware self-absorbed, cheating lying, dangerous, stealing, nasty, stupid, druggy, rotten, trouble-making, ignorant, evil, fat, ugly, sluggo “citizens” who take everything that makes this Country great for granted, think the rest of us to be suckers, and force thoughtful and concerned folks to carry the load. It’s probably better that they don’t vote, but as their numbers continue to grow it will be getting harder and harder for civilized society to absorb their antics and still progress.

Man o man, they can’t legalize pot!  They’re taking most of the fun out of doing it.

[Crook] Ed, Are you sure you’re not running the Coconut Telegraph Facebook page? Because if you aren’t, someone has not just been stealing your
banners, now they’re taking Coconut Telegraph posts. The one attached here was the first post from yesterday on your site. If this isn’t you, (because you’ve
said in the past that you don’t even go on Facebook), then I just might have to mention something about it on Facebook because this kind of wholesale rip-off
just isn’t right. (Ed: Thanks, yes it sure looks like someone is ripping off the Coco Tele and using it as their “Coconut Telegraph Television of Key West.” How
sinful! If you know who it is let me know so I can send out the leg breakers.)

[Sore Loser] Henry Hamilton, 64, of Key West, owner of Tropical Tan off Duval Street, apparently killed himself over election results. Link

Deer Ed, In Monday’s post – There’s a new Sheriff in town Rick Ramsey – you used a graphic of a deputy shield from New York’s Monroe County
(Rochester area) I recognized it because it had the great seal of the State on NY on it.

[To FTR] If the GOP, for the first time since 1872, now controls the legislative house in all 11 states of the old Confederacy, does that mean the Republican
Party replaced the Democratic Party as the KKK’s favorite party?

Did you forget to mention that Barry Goldwater was in bed with and defended the John Birch Society and other forms of far-right extremism in America, and that
is why he got beaten so badly in that presidential election? I know lots of Republican Christians, and I don’t know one who would vote for a Catholic for
President, or for a Jew, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist, a Taoist, a Shintoist, a Wiccan, a New Agean, a Negro, an Asian, a Mexican-American.

I know lots of Christians who only want a Christian in the White House. I know a less number of Christians who are bigger than that. Is Christian and Muslim
ecumenical outreach similar to proselytizing, missionary work, or do you mean we should all get along because there is only one God?
I am not an atheist and am bigoted against the Republican Party, the Tea Party, the Democratic Party and politicians. I have seen how deeply prejudiced you
are against President Obama. Not because he is black, or rather half black and half white. But because he is a Democrat.

Like many Americans, you have become mired in political religion and secular concerns, even though Jesus said in the Gospels that the Kingdom of God is not of
this world; you cannot worship God and mammon; take no thought for tomorrow, or for what you shall eat or drink or wear, for each day has enough trouble of
its own; but put your faith in God and what you need for this world will be provided to you. Most of all, Jesus said, not my will but God’s will be done.

To read your writings, FTR, to hear on TV the propaganda of the Republican Party, the Tea Party, and the Democratic Party, to hear President Obama, to listen
to church people, I am left wondering if 99 percent of Americans are atheists and/or have made God in their own image.

[Sour Grapes] Congratulations, democrats & young people. You wanted to own it? Now you own it. The next terrorist attack, you own it. … Can’t get a job

rather it is “Dead on Arrival”, you own it. China controlling our world trade and trampling all over us, you own it. Loss of our freedoms as we have known them in

The FTR moniker should be changed because of his old, out dated train of thoughts. Try this one on for size: FTOWD (From the Old White DinaSOUR and I do mean sour.

[Blame Obama] This chaos with all our umpteen star generals and their juvenile actions is a direct reflection on the amateurs in charge of the present
administration, we are truly witnessing the keystone cops in action, where is a general Patton when the country could really use him.

Anyone else find it amusing that in less than a week, we seem to know ten times more about Petraeus and his scandal than we’ve learned about Benghazi in 3
months?

“That to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical; that even the forcing him to support this or that teacher of his own religious per suasion, is depriving him of the comfortable liberty of giving his contributions to the particular pastor whose morals he would make his pattern, and whose powers he feels most persuasive to righteousness.” ~Thomas Jefferson, A Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom

Let’s start a new drinking game.  Every time they say “job creators” on Fox News we do a shot and then see how long it takes to pass out.

[Blame Obama] Concerned citizens in 15 states started a petition to secede, which is what the founder of their party, Abraham Lincoln, would have wanted.
Ha! And they blame Obama for “Tearing the country apart.”

1. Newt said hes dumbfounded. Thats a shock?
2. Republicans are starting to eat their own. Even rightwing hero Glen Beck is calling NJ Governor Christie “Fat ass” and whining about him working with the
President after parts of his state were destroyed. Stay classy Glen.
3. Im glad the President is bringing in business leaders to discuss ways the government can get out of the way and help them prosper. Hey Mr. President take
their advice.
4. Since the election Our President is according to rightwing media responsible for Hurricane Sandy, the failings of the private power companies and a Generals
affair. Really?
5. Somewhere Clint Eastwood is counting a chairs vote. So far 1 vote for Obama.
6. “Donald Trump” I just wanted to say that it always makes me laugh.
7. I took a good look around at people working this week and I saw more white people pretending to work and the Latinos I saw were working pretty hard. You
Neo Cons sure the Latinos are the ones looking for a handout? Looked like they were working for the American dream to me.
8. A recent article I read said that when they reviewed demographics from the election that people working low income jobs did indeed vote for Obama. Check
this out. It also said that the wealthiest Americans also voted for Obama. Im sure Karl “Meltdown” Rove is still insisting its untrue. Romney asked if I wanted to
bet him $10,000 that it was right? Seems the middle of the financial spectrum were the ones voting Romney.
9. Still cant figure out how Romney getting such a huge amount of votes less then John McCain was a huge step forward for republicans. Go figure.
10. “Donald Trump” see its funny.

The President will be giving a press conference this afternoon. I’ll wager FTR will be glued to the set so he can pick apart anything Obama might say. FTR’s probably all atwitter with glee at the prospect of knocking our President.
Obama supporters respond to win by tweeting” “F**k white… “

[I did not vote as I refuse to participate in the democratic process any more as this is not my country anymore”] I had a big laugh at that. All the long lines an
all the votes of Florida were irrelevant.

From the Right

Ernst and Young is one of the largest professional service firms in the world and one of the “Big Four” accounting firms. They do work for the government and for big business. They recently ran an analysis of the impact of the Obama tax the rich scheme. I urge you to try and wade through the report to be found at Link

But really all you need to know is the following quote from the report: “Through lower after-tax rewards to work, the higher tax rates on wages reduce work
effort and labor force participation. The higher tax rates on capital gains and dividend increase the cost of equity capital, which discourages savings and
reduces investment. Capital investment falls, which reduces labor productivity and means lower output and living standards in the long-run.
Output in the long-run would fall by 1.3%, or $200 billion, in today•‟s economy.
Employment in the long-run would fall by 0.5% or, roughly 710,000 fewer jobs, in today’s economy.
Capital stock and investment in the long-run would fall by 1.4% and 2.4%, respectively.
Real after-tax wages would fall by 1.8%, reflecting a decline in workers‟ living standards relative to what would have occurred otherwise”.

These results suggest real long-run economic consequences for allowing the top two ordinary tax rates and investment tax rates to rise in 2013. This policy
path can be expected to reduce long-run output, investment and net worth. It sure seems like a Mr. Obama is dead set on wreaking havoc on our economy in
the name of class warfare.

Part 2). It really is a damned shame that the tragedy in Bengazi on 9/11/12 has devolved into a screaming hairball. The incredible series of events regarding
Petraeus et al is masking the real issues. The mess contains only a few issues of real import. First. Why was the Consulate unprotected, and who is
responsible? Second. Why was no rescue mission ordered, and who is responsible. Third. When did Obama know of the real danger to the mission and of the real
danger that Petraeus’s liaisons posed to our national security. Fourth. Was Petraeus’s testimony to the Congressional committee willful perjury and if it was, was
it to curry favor with Obama? Fifth. Was the mission intentionally unprotected in order to curry favor with the Libyan government? All else pales in comparison.

Deer Friends, we have a tragedy and scandal in the making that will make Watergate seem like an Eagle Scout exercise. Nobody died in Watergate.
