[Reward] We all know now that the VA are led by a lying, careless management. If anyone in the Miami VA Hospital will come up with proof that the hospital gave me Hepatitis C during a colonoscopy in August 2008. If you know of a cover-up and can prove it, I will split the settlement with you. This means millions of dollars to you. It might be worth being a whistleblower.

raft11Two weeks in paradise. Back to reality. Here my wife and I sit back in St Pete. We spent a full two weeks at our place on Big Pine, and I am absolutely warn out. Last week my wife released the blue marlin I reported here, and through last weekend we got offshore another 3 times and spent a day inshore chasing tarpon around. We have coolers full of mahi and wahoo, are sore, sunburned, happy and broke. That is what I call a good vacation!

On Sunday we did find this raft offshore in a Sargasso weed line. I have to admit it was one of the spookiest sights that I have ever seen. It completely took the wind out of my crew’s sails as we thought about the poor souls that risked their lives on that “boat” to come to our country. With all of the griping that I see and hear about our country, I sure don’t see something like this – Americans building rafts and risking their lives to escape to a better place.

Think about it, and count your blessings. We still have problems, but we sure as heck live a blessed existence.

[Not For Sale] House Majority Leader Eric Cantor raised funds by a 25 to 1 of the winner  David Brat. I thought elections were for sale. As disappointing as this outcome is I’m relieved to see an election can’t be bought. I hope that still applies to an election between Democrats and Republicans and that wont be for sale either.

I guess all of you saps that got stuck with grinder pumps at your homes by the BOCC deserve a booklet of free passes to Pigeon Key or the ex Rowell’s Marina. Both now belong to you as a Monroe County resident because you paid for them. Each coupon can be used for one free dump in the likely event your grinder pump takes a dump.  Enjoy and be grateful for the drive across the Seven Mile Bridge, rated one of the top ten drives in the USA.

[Coconut Trimmers] Be very careful when you hire those folks who will trim your coconut trees. The use of contaminated tools is the major method by which lethal yellowing, a plant disease that will kill your trees, is spread. If one a worker gets hurt while working on the tree and the employer does not carry workers’ compensation insurance (very likely among this kind of itinerant business), you, as the homeowner, are liable.

Yeah, I’m cool
even though I’m sleeping on a shitty bed in a shitty apartment with a blanket for a curtain and I’m fat, balding and real hairy. I’m cool, see my guitar?
[Funk ‘n Soul] Someone has to say this to our local bands- if you are going to do Mustang Sally, do it with feeling and funk or don’t do it at all. In case you have forgotten or perhaps never listened to the original, check it out.

The five terrorists exchanged for one soldier shows that one of ours is worth at least five of theirs. Those terrorists are only a danger to Afghanistan. They are no danger at all to America. Stop using that as an argument. Let Afghanistan’s people decide weather they want terror or democracy. It’s not our problem. Release all those terrorists and close Gitmo.

no-pumps-ct11[Sewers] Why the “stopped” work on BPK? They  said they would halt only gravity digs, but they are still doing the trenching damage they were concerned about by  continuing the pressure system, which is another example of how duplicitous they have been. Full speed ahead trying to get in before they are caught . FWS’s Nancy Finley also contradicted herself on the radio, first saying there is “no Federal nexus”. There is, and there is a big question of NEPA compliance.

[Phishing] Sorry for any inconvenience, but I’m in a terrible situation. I came down here to Turkey for a short vacation, last night on my way back to my hotel room I was robbed at gunpoint, my wallet and other valuables were stolen off me, leaving my passport and life safe. My luggage is still in custody of the hotel management pending when I make payment on outstanding bills I owe I contacted my bank (E-mail) for a wire transfer but it has proven almost Impossible to operate my account from here as they made me understand international transactions take 7 working days to be effective which i can’t wait. I need you to help me with a loan to pay my hotel bills and get my self home.

Do we have a Tea Party in Monroe County? I would think that they would be looking very carefully at the grinder pump pressure sewer system, what it’s cost is and what it’s going to cost us all in maintenance and repair and how we are being led down the garden path with this project. All politics is local?
The differences between the published quotes from the Citizen’s Citizen Of The Day, and the Citizens’ Voice and the Citizen’s Crime Report proves, conclusively, the existence of parallel universes, which up until now were considered to be only theoretical.

On this day, Jun 11, 1979 John Wayne died. He was the greatest war hear America never had. He was never in the military. He told friends he’d enlist after he made just one or two more movies, but he never did.
[Eyeball to Brain] When people view something online or in real life, what they see is what their brain interprets to satisfy their tastes and mood. Like this blog, any given subject gets feedback displaying a point of view and directly relates to people’s attitudes and social settings. What this means is that any give subject is rarely viewed with pure logic, common sense or scientifically — but with emotions. I will never ask for a jury trial!

[Vietnam] The miracle, which saved me from going to Vietnam, came about in this way. My infant son died at the beginning of my last semester in law school. By then, students were being drafted, but fathers were not, and never would be. I was exposed to the draft, unless I elected to take special student deferment, which would let me finish my course of study, whereupon I would be inducted. The draft was a lottery, no one knew who would be drafted next. After going back and forth between being drafted, dropping out of law school and enlisting in the Marine Corps, and applying for the special student deferment and then being inducted and maybe ending up in the Judge Advocate General Corps as a military lawyer, I decided to apply for the special student deferment and drove to Birmingham and did that. About two weeks later, my wife discovered she was pregnant. I drove back to the draft board hoping, but not believing, I would be able to retract the special student deferment I had elected. The same woman clerk waited on me, who had processed the special student deferment application. She heard me out, said she felt for me, but the special student deferment was irrevocable. She went to a green filing cabinet and pulled out my file to show me what I had signed, which I already knew was irrevocable. Then, she said, “There’s been some mistake.” I asked, “What mistake?” She said, “You applied on the wrong form, your application for the deferment was defective, you will have to reapply. I laughed and said, “No thanks, I will go back to having a father deferment.”

I felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted me. I knew it was a miracle. As time passed, I viewed it as God’s way of saying how God felt about that war, and how God felt about me being in it. Maybe losing my son was war enough war. It certainly left me at loose ends for a very long time. There are lots of ways to have post traumatic shock, fighting in US foreign wars is just one of the ways.

[Gun] Jeffery Dahmer (remember him? yum yum) had an opinion regarding other people that was somewhat different from most Americans.  I opine that he should have been allowed to express it and act upon it forthwith, as he was entitled to as posited somewhere  in our founding father’s blessed Sacred Constitution (carved onto bulletproof stone tablets that must be stashed somewhere, and if we could just only find them we could settle any uncertainties regarding this matter) just like we would with any run-of-the-mill, daily nut case.

[Gun] Yesterday’s school shooting is the 74 since Sandyhook. While they were searching students they found a handgun in the possession of another student unrelated to the killer’s rampage.

anti
[Gun] It is heartening to see the sincere response of my Second Amendment supporters. Remember, we must stay above the filth and vile the Antis are spewing. They have no leg to stand on, let the facts speak for themselves, just look at the Bureau of Justice statistics on firearm violence–down from 1.5 million incidents per year in 1993 to 478k in 2011.
The problem is with mental health care, criminal possession and hysterical Anti bias that will twist the facts to their benefit. The crackpot with the shooting range in his back yard is not helping the case of the responsible gun owner. Don’t wallow with the pig, you’ll just get dirty and the pig likes it.
[Gun] Yet another school shooting.  Everyone should just pick up a gun and shoot the person next to them.  This would solve a lot of problems.  Been over 60 school shootings since Sandy Hook.  How do you like that, Mr. FTR Guy?  I know, the logical answer is more and bigger guns in place, right?  Has the USA gone mad?
Johnsons-ad-750w
[Gun] The Gun Right never outgrew the wild west mentality they had when they were kids. The problem is now they are older they are more afraid of everyone. They won’t leave their house without a gun!
quick-draw holsters[Guns] How many school shootings is it going to take before a reasonable conversation is had regarding gun laws? And for the “you’ll have to pry my gun from my cold, dead hand,” people to stop shouting and admit there may be problems that need addressing? Arming more people leads to bystanders with holes in them before they even know what’s going on. Not every citizen has the reflexes represented in action movies.

Again, nobody is coming to take your guns. That will never happen. We won’t let it either. Stop that tired rhetoric already.

[Gun] If making the ownership of guns illegal to keep them off the street, then we should also make cocaine illegal to keep it off the street.

[Guns] No one talks about the many people who are shot. Most statistics talk about deaths. There are a great a number of shooting victims who don’t die. That alone cries for a need for gun control.

Let me get this straight,  every bad thing that happens in the World from now on will be linked to the 5 Gitmo guys that Obama let loose?
[No immigration reform during Obama’s admin] Republican Majority leader Eric Candor’s defeat yesterday signaled the death knell for any immigration reform. Cantor was the only man who might have been able to do something about the Republican road block to immigration reform. Cantor was defeated by an unknown Tea Party candidate. Cantor loses Video
Am I missing something or is SNL not doing take-offs on Hillary Clinton like they do on everybody else? Seems Hillary would be the perfect dupe for their sketches. Or is she a laughing stock by herself on TV? Seems to be either going to go for the Presidency or an Emmy/Oscar. If she only had the same rep Monica has!
