Letters to the editor with pictures since 0202. Published on Big Pine Key’s garbage days, Tuesdays and Fridays.

[Gun Insensitivity] I was trying to think of something to make or say about the Thousand Oaks shooting, but I realized – what’s the point. I wasn’t even outraged by the news to be honest. I mean c’mon, just 11 days ago a white terrorist nut job slaughtered half a synagogue.
Mass murders by gun-toting maniacs are now a fact of life in this country, and to be outraged by it at this point, is like screaming at the sky because it’s raining

[“Paradise does not come easy”] My motto for the Keys: It’s hell living in paradise.
If you decide to use ethanol gas instead of Rec90 non-ethanol in your boat, you should be aware that your water-separating filter will not separate anything besides dirt. Instead, it will add its own rust particles to the flow of contaminated gas.
You can remove both the contaminated gas and ethanol by adding a bunch of water which will precipitate the contaminants to the bottom after sitting awhile. It goes from cloudy to yellowish clear on top. Then you can pour off the now non-ethanol gas above. However, it will be low octane and might need a booster or high octane gas mixed in. Ethanol is used to boost crappy gas octane. Remember: It is always about the money and deceit and nothing to do with ecology.
I am still wondering what else precipitated out with the water & ethanol that made the precipitate white. I fracked up my outboard’s fuel injection by using ethanol gas. Pay the extra for Rec90. And buy from the marina where no ethanol gas gets delivered
[Dining Out in Florida] An office in a bathroom? Sewage in a kitchen? Roaches in flour? Bad news for restaurants. Link

There’s always something bigger out there!

[“Fake news”] From Friday, 11/9 CT issue: “…the thinking intellectuals cannot get the correct information out to the pubic.” How ironic!

I very recently learned that long time Big Pine Key resident Glenn Reber has passed on. He was a good person and will be missed. Now he is in an even better place. RIP Glenn.

[African Blood Brothers 1911] Yesterday we made blood-brotherhood with one of the chiefs of Yambuya. As the Major was Commandant of the post, he went bravely through the ceremony, which was particularly disgusting. On the flowing blood a pinch of dirty salt was placed, and this had to be licked. The chief performed his part as though he loved it. The Major looked up and saw the cynical faces of his friends and was mortified. “To ensure peace!” replied the Major and sacrificed his taste.
[“When did they remove the flame adjustment lever from Bic lighters”] Not long after drunks started using them as flame throwers

Boy, here’s an album I’ll be sure to buy as soon as LPs come back.

Big Pine Sea Center is reopening November 16. We welcome everyone to stop bye, send us an email,
or just give us a call Monday through Sunday 8 am to 6 pm to make a reservation. You’ve all seen it destroyed on the news. Come see it all rebuilt and ready for business. ~William Ray. erin.bigpineseacenter@gmail.com
[Bacon] I’ve been ordering turkey bacon lately and I have to admit it tastes perfectly fine with bacon

The man behind Freddie Mercury’s teeth in the movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.  Evidently he never got them fixed because he feared the change in the shape of them would change his voice also. Link

Wounded veteran makes nice with Pete Davidson during surprise ‘SNL’ visit. Lt. Commander Dan Crenshaw stopped by ‘Saturday Night Live,’ a week after Pete Davidson came under fire for mocking the wounded veteran’s appearance. Video
[“People consider all gun owners evil”] Where do you people get this stuff? I’ve never heard anyone say that, except people like you, trying to force their point of view by any means.
[Lower Keys Dist. 2 Representation] A Friday CT Poster stated we need single-district voting, insinuating the Lower Keys did not get to choose our representative. While I have always believed we should move to single-district voting (as I believe it will provide better representation for each district), Michelle Coldiron actually won every precinct in the Lower Keys (District 2) except for one.  And the one precinct (#17) she lost, she only lost by 7 votes.

Michelle Coldiron (REP)
12-BC Fire Station 55.56%
13-Sugarloaf Baptist Ch 50.87%
14-Sugarloaf Baptist Ch 60.76%
15-Boy Scouts of America 56.48%
16-BPK First Baptist Church 51.92%
17-BPK Comm Park 49.61%

And this does not include the Marathon portion of Dist. 2 (which she won). Her opponent won in Key West and precinct #17 — that’s it! Clearly District 2 did choose our representative. Feel free to review all precinct details for that race here. Link

Let ‘s change saying, “Thank you for your service.” on Veterans day to “Never forget”.  When you say never forget to a veteran, you’re implying that as an American, you are in it with them. Not separated by some imaginary barrier between civilians and veterans, but connected together as grateful, fellow-Americans. We’ll never forget the sacrifices made by past and present. ~ Dan Crenshaw
The Rotary Club of Key Largo helped fund the purchase of a defibrillator for Ocean Studies Charter School in Tavernier. The gift was matched by Patricia Thompson, Director of School Safety & Security for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. “Thank you, you have assisted in providing a much-needed safety item for one of our smaller schools,” said Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Patricia O’Keefe, who coordinated the donation.

[Bit Off Finger] A Hialeah man got really drunk at a Bahia Honda State Park campsite. He bit off his neighbor’s fingertip. Link
[Election Fraud] forget Russia trying to sway votes when we have Fort Lauderdale changing votes, duplicating votes, finding boxes of votes, dead people votes, taking boxes of votes home to do whatever. Oh well, another place becoming a third world s**t hole.
The Spinning Dancer is a kinetic, bistableoptical illusion resembling a pirouetting female dancer. If you instead look at the dancer on the right and the one in the middle, the one in the middle starts spinning counter-clockwise. The secret is that the center image is ambiguous: It can be interpreted as a dancer spinning in either direction. The dancers on the left and right, in contrast, include additional details which force one or other interpretation. This forced interpretation then guides our perception of the middle, ambiguous figure. Video
[Suing McDonald’s] A South Florida couple learned Friday how difficult it is to win a lawsuit against a major fast-food chain. The two filed a $5 million class action lawsuit against McDonald’s over how it charges for the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Link
[Height Limit Removed] A foot or two could make a big difference in keeping an Islamorada home dry and cheaper to insure, members of the Local Planning Agency agreed. And developers agreed too because another big reason behind changing our skyline is to allow developers to add 4th floor. Link
