[“I can’t breathe”] White cops did it again. They shot an unarmed black man in his car 7 times – in the back – because he wouldn’t obey them. His two young children were in the back seat watching, terrified. The cop grabs the unarmed man by his t-shirt with one hand and fires 7 shots into his back with the other. The problem is that many of us think it’s okay because if he’s black he must be wrong. Video |

| [Raising the Roads] Monroe County has previously dedicated $320,750 to design the road elevation and drainage improvement project for Twin Lakes. The design is currently 90% completed and will be shovel-ready for construction if grant funds are received. The Twin Lakes and Big Pine Key Sands Subdivision pilot road raising projects have been kicked around since at least the beginning of 2017. A public hearing on seeking $8.5 million to elevate and improve drainage on Father Tony Way as part of the Sands project will precede the Twin Lakes discussion. |

| [Brainwashing] The trend of school officials is asking parents to sign waivers that they (parents) won’t be eavesdropping on virtual classes without asking permission from the teachers. Also, they are forbidding them from recording the lessons. Now perhaps the parents are interested in what is being taught to little Johnny and Maria in public schools. So why the unreasonable request for a waiver? Is it perhaps they’re afraid of not teaching the 3 R’s but social discord and gender equity? Are our children being brainwashed behind our backs? |

[Conventions] I can’t think of one reason to watch either convention. If you want to hear speeches go to the politician’s website. Conventions used to have a purpose, but today everything is resolved and made public well before the convention. They used to be exciting and full of surprises, now they are just staged performances. If you want to see the famous contestants just turn on your TV, they’re on every channel every day and night. No need for a convention. |

| [Colorado Wildfires] The second largest wildfire in state history grew slightly to 189,177 acres by Sunday, even as the nearly 900 firefighters – aided by air support – managed to increase containment to 19%.
