pulitzer-prize5[Reporting on Murder] I think The Citizen did a pretty good job reporting the case – after – The Blue Paper broke the story. The Citizen’s editorial last Sunday blasted the city and is PD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

For me, the Citizen’s real “sin”, so far, is not giving The Blue Paper credit for breaking the story. Without The Blue Paper, there would have been so story; the city and its PD would have gotten clean away.  The City Commission should give The Blue Paper and its publishers/editors Arnaud and Naja Award a special award at a City Commission meeting. Call it the “Doing the Right Thing Medal”. The City’s version of The Congressional Medal of Honor, because Naja and Arnaud put themselves and their children at risk when they broke the Eimer’s case and continued reporting it.

My family and I did it! We dropped cable TV. We then tried the dish kind and dropped that too. I went out a bought a roof TV antenna and now get free over the air HD TV. It saved my house $250 or more a month! Next is finding a free internet connection for email and the web.

I love the Royal Poinciana trees this time of year. Spectacular!
Key West needs a great deal more affordable rental housing, and if a waitress can’t afford it on her wages, it’s not affordable; Key West needs a lot more affordable elder housing, and if an elder can’t afford it on his/her income, it’s not affordable; ban cruise ships from Key West, they pollute the sea with their wastes and silt the channel, it was a mistake to let them call on Key West to begin with; all new development and redevelopment is solar-powered to the maximum extent possible; mandatory recycling with teeth; yard waste composted and reused locally; treated wastewater recycled for irrigation; scrap the Truman Waterfront plan and turn that land into community gardens and affordable rental housing; pay Bahama Village market rate for the Truman Waterfront acreage designated to Bahama Village, which the city swiped; lower Duval Street becomes pedestrian/artisan/food mall mid-afternoon on; revamp Tree Commission which long has terrorized private property owners; revamp Historical Architectural Review Commission to allow solar panels and construction materials termites do not ravage; stop letting KW police officers moonlight in city bars and strip joints, where drug trafficking is rampant and they participate in it; stop wasting taxpayer money trying to force homeless people to change or leave the area; provide a drunk tank for homeless addicts and a night shelter for other homeless people; keep ever in mind Jesus in the Gospels was homeless and told his disciples, as they did to the least of the people around them, they did also to him.

[“Micro-aggression”] ‘A truly black day in humanity’s history’ Know it or not, you have just committed a micro-aggression. See if you can play this fun game that sociologists have thought up. The scary thing is our government will embrace the concept and limit our freedom of speech a little more. And lawyers will have another lucrative target.

[“Cereal Line”] Why would someone in Detroit, or anywhere, wait in line for “serial”? Good grief. We should now be worried.
The “Big Pine Gun Nut” should have known better than to accept an invitation to be on Colbert’s show. It is like accepting an invitation to Jerry Springer. You know it is not going to go well. At least it didn’t end in a cat fight.

Happy Thursday from Springer’s Bar and Grill.
Today’s special is shrimp salad on a Kaiser roll. It’s our taste of the sea on a bun. So come and join us for lunch or a light supper.
There’s always something special at Springer’s.
[“Not buying on Big Pine Key because of gun nut”] That law is not a local law, it is a Florida law. No matter where you buy in the State of Florida you have a chance of being confronted by a home range owner. Most people have the sense to keep a low profile when shooting occasionally on their property. Shooting on your own property is most assuredly a not a Big Pine issue alone.

[Spies Like Us] If someone sold subscriptions for a private email client and private browser I’d pay! Browser’s that say they are private are a myth. Those browsers or services only delete your browsing history locally, so it’s only the next user of your computer that can’t see where you’ve been. The NSA still records everyplace you’ve been.
No more porn and no more all night gambling online for me.
[Sewers] Why can’t we use vacuum?  Someone is selling the County Commission a bill of goods. Next storm we’ll be knee  deep in s**t .  Even if you have a gravity system your neighbor’s grinder pump will pollute everything. Read the article people! Link

[Climate Change] Some like it hot! Some like it cold. That’s a lot like the theories on climate change. I certainly don’t subscribe to many of the ideas on the supposed change in the temp of our planet, and the accompanying reasons for said problem and cure. Some see it as the fault of greedy corporations. Personally I see it as an opportunity for politicians to have a easy excuse to be able to exert an enormous amount of control over their subjects, all the while under the umbrella of feel good politics. Then again for ever more it seems this will be the fate of the multitude of the unwashed, many whom will not realize they have been hoodwinked till they reach a point where change without some kind of a major upheaval is all but impossible.

[Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl] I agree with General McChrystal, “we don’t leave Americans behind.” When you take that oath you don’t stray off course even if it makes you uncomfortable. That’s what honor is. Now they can sort out his actions, but first and foremost you follow your oath. If he spends the rest of his life in prison that’s fine, but your honor and promise to your country always comes first.

stairway_to_heaven00
Speaking of Ramrod Key. Does anyone remember the ‘stairway to heaven’ that stood just off US1 for many, many years. What was the story on that? Did the guy just run out of money or was he fighting the County all those years?
After 12 years of fighting America lost the war. The Taliban are back in Fallujah in full strength. The government is corrupt. The divide between Sunni and Shia is wider than ever. Christians are not safe. Electricity is still spotty, trash pickup is a joke. All the war did was nearly destroy our economy and make us hated by much of the world. Thanks Bush, for the slow f**k. It’s a crying shame.

[“Gun Running Marine”] Why is there no national outrage about our US Marine being held in a Mexican prison, chained to a bed, beaten twice, living in fear for his life from the drug gangs and deprived of medical care in addition to being starved for over a week given nothing but bread and water.  In a phone call he was allowed to make he said that his current situation was worse than being in Afghanistan.  And, despite over 100,000 signatures on a petition to the White House not a word from the President or Secretary of State.  Why hasn’t General James Amos, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff spoken up about one of his men living as a prisoner in a Mexican jail, being inhumanely treated and demand Presidential intervention .  I would think if anyone in Washington had a pair of balls it would be a Marine Corps General.  Apparently he has lost the principal of Semper Fi.

I would love to see an extraction team of Marines and Seals go get our Marine back from the taco chomping thug jailers who have mistreated a veteran of two tours in Afghanistan, who saved the lives of 6 of his fellow Marines and was himself badly injured in a combat zone.  May God bless Sgt. Tahmooressi as we pray for his safe return.

[“Ruckus in the woods”] It could be anything, but I’d guess a raccoon and an opossum, although I’ve never see it happen. A raccoon’s the noisiest fighter around here other than my old lady.

Welcome Carrier Air Wing One from NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, arriving this weekend for training at NAS Boca Chica. Fly safe and party responsibly!
(Editor: This was submitted in poem form, but it was too long so I condensed it. I know, art and all that…) Conduct unbecoming, a way of life in Key West Just take Fantasy Fest, people letting all hang out on Duval Street, what back home in Key West, Iowa they’d never do, nor just a few blocks away in their own far west of weird front yards! Unbecoming seems contagious down here a city commissioner challenges the mayor to step outside, settle it like man to man; the mayor says, put up or shut up, file to run against me, or get over it  the city commissioner weenies, as the mayor goes by the book. CBS treated his beautiful city one-sided, dang liberal TV journalists, but for them, the world never would have found out about his police killing suspected homeless man Charles Eimers in paradise last Thanksgiving Day. Dang that blue Key West the Newspaper for catching his police red-handed making up stories about how Charles Eimers actually killed himself, then he intimidated witnesses, wrote up false incident reports, shot a cell phone video of what he really didn’t do, smuggled it from the grave to the blue paper. Not to mention, he sent his body to a mortuary to be cremated, as in adios evidence, instead of to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy, then were all the tissue samples the hospital took from his body, which Eimers got tossed before the Medical Examiner even knew a body was headed his way. What a pickle, the Medical Examiner finally quit, got a teaching job somewhere safe on the mainland, as Eimers stalled the state investigation … from the grave. It’s all that dang Eimers’ fault, he has no respect for going by the book, he told the first cop he came down here to do God’s work – hell, plain as day, pretending to be homeless, he worked for the Devil! Another great chapter for The Bubba Conch Justice Book! A million ways to die, in Key West.

sheep5[“Israel/Arab issue a clash of civilizations”] The Hebrew empire existed for only several hundred years, so you must be referring to the European empire they’ve adopted and have been influenced by in some extent to survive. Left to their own, they would revert back to the ancient practices many Arabs practice today, perhaps even animal sacrifice. When I see Israelis quit wearing xenophobic invoking clothing and nearly banging their heads on the Wailing Wall then will I consider them better than those following Islam who pray to Allah on a rug five times a day. So until then it’s is, and remains, a religious clash as both religions are backwards.

And with who, exactly, and where, did male circumcision begin and why? Parents let doctors and Rabbis perform this on their young boys. So do Arab parents on their young girls, and for what reason? Could there have been a deadly STD in the past that invoked this tradition, like many of the Hebrew traditions, like not eating any cloven animals? Male circumcision is just as barbaric today as cliterectomy is. Why in the age of modern science we need, as a human race, move away from religion as it’s always stuck in the past. Here is a nice history timeline for you to enjoy (click to enlarge). Link

[“Ruckus in the woods”]
During May and June alligators get up and out to breed. They walk around from pond to pond and look for trouble. The last I heard there were an estimated 150 alligators on Big Pine Key alone. Perhaps an alligator found a sleeping cormorant or raccoon and caused the ruckus on Little Torch. Nothing freaks me out more than to see a big ‘gator up off the ground, by a foot or more, walking across Key Deer Boulevard. If you go out at night to check out a loud noise around the house make sure you walk softly and carry a big stick.
I would bet that the first thing that happened to the Gitmo Five when they got back home was a thorough sweeping and a full body MRI scan looking for microchips.  Most likely their old pals will be telling them something along the lines of, “Stay way the fk away from me, Abdul!”

[Captain Doom and Gloom
] Ever notice how fast things change. In one generation the world is totally different, at least news media wise and entertainment wise. It seems as though all of history has been stuck in the back draws of libraries or data bases and the latest batch of boomers could care less what happened last week let alone in the last generation. Sad to think BB is laughing his socks off while not even trying to take over humanity but letting the cell phone drones do it themselves. Just program the phones and make the dummies dumber! So what is in store for the next batch of key punchers and screen sliders? Nothing much except newer advertising scams to sell, sell, sell stuff no one really needs and to waste more natural resources making stupid toys for twits. Soylent Green may be just over the horizon for real!

Everybody knows Hillary Clinton wants to be the next CZAR of America with Billy boy as her dictator-in-waiting, so why the hell does she pretend with the maybe I will run BS act? To some in the know, she is already ‘elected’ or more like already appointed by the real rulers and just has to go through the electoral act to make the sheeple think voting really counts. The whole SNL Act stinks and it is a very strong possibility we the People will wind up with a worse Ruler in Chief than we have now, if that is possible! Semper Fi!
from the right
A POSTER WROTE: “Goering, Himmler, Goebbels, Rommel, and Von Runstedt. That was the stupidest thing I’ve read in a long time.”

FTR’S RESPONSE: Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. The urge to label the poster as lacking any knowledge of history is strong. The urge to strongly reply to the poster’s “stupid” comment is strong.

Hermann_Göring5The history of Goering, Himmler, Goebbels, Rommel, and Von Runstedt is readily available. All were members of the command staff of Hitler. All were war criminals, with the possible exception of Rommel. All were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of allied military personnel. Goering, Himmler, Goebbels shared responsibility in the murders of 6 million Jews and untold other humans that they considered to be inferior beings, the “Untermensch.” Please never forget that the Muslim fundamentalists/the Taliban, also consider anyone who is not a Muslim fundamentalist is an “inferior being”, unworthy of life.

The 5 Taliban terrorists released by Obama were not simple fighters, they were command staff level holding very similar ranks as did Goering, Himmler, Goebbels, Rommel, and Von Runstedt in Hitler’s Germany.  They have been responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of noncombatants. They have personal responsibility for many thousands of American and coalition casualties, including 3,435 coalition deaths in Afghanistan alone.  They are war criminals. They are fully and absolutely committed to the death of as many Americans as possible, and establishing a worldwide caliphate.  It is dead certain that Obama has released these five, it is dead certain that they will return to the battlefield and continue to kill all who refuse to submit to Islam.

The comparison between the Nazi war criminals and the Taliban war criminals is perfect.  To suggest otherwise is ……well….. Extraordinarily, STUPID. This is a dust up that will soon morph into a shit storm of monumental proportions.

Obama’s decision to release the 5 was extraordinarily stupid! He violated several laws. He released the prisoners without consulting Congress, a clear violation of a law that he signed just months ago. He spent a great deal of money delivering the prisoners to Qatar, a clear violation of a law that he signed only months ago. And a very, very strong argument can be made that he gave aid and comfort to our enemy in the time of war. All are potentially impeachable offenses. Expect it.

It is impossible to say whether his acts were a blunder, or a political ploy gone sour. In any event this will cost him dearly.

——————————————

A POSTER WROTE: “I don’t care for President Obama for many reasons. After this last move, I question his sanity. I’m not joking. Our President may need professional psychological help.  President Obama has done more to hurt America that any President in our history. In doing so he has also hurt the Democratic Party. America will recover,we are a strong country. I’m not sure about the effect on the Democratic Party. Have a blessed day.”

FTR’S RESPONSE: None needed.

Thanks for taking the time…………Respectfully submitted….FTR
