Lawyer Restivo, formerly Noe, of Ohio, may have an ability to access funds stolen from Ohio. 50 million dollars. Clearly this would fund Gay right marriages for years.

] Here’s your August 2014 Newsletter.  Our field trip is a little later than usual this month, Sunday, Aug. 31, 10am to 2pm. When we go to people’s homes, our host gets to choose the date & time.

Our hostess for August is Marianne Bertini. We visited her last year when her house was having extensive repairs. This year she wants us to see the finished product without the scaffolding. The address is 14 Sapphire Drive on Big Coppitt Key, MM10. Coming from Key West on US1 Sapphire is on your left, just before Southern Furniture. From up the Keys it’s on your right, of course, just after the furniture store. #14 is on your left.

This is a good chance for you Key West city folk to get off your rock & see what it’s like out in the ‘country’. Full Menu > Ongoing Events

[Marathon Journal] -Long time Marathon resident Kay Gradick died recently. She was 96. She seemed to be into everything. The list of her accomplishments is in the recent Keynoter article.
-The August 18th Planning Commission roll call noted that Lott Panskyy has missed two consecutive meeting. They then got down to business. They covered and approved three items.
-Discount Rock & Sand wants a Conditional Use Permit approval for “The Construction and Demolition Debris Transfer Facility”. Discount Rock & Sand needs this transfer facility for their business. After looking out for all relevant data, they are within the code to do this. The area is designated for Industrial work. Where would they go if not here? There are still those who don’t want any more dirt and noise. There are still objectors to the project for a number of different reasons.
-Christian’s Landscaping wants approval for a Mixed Use-Commercial condition use permit for property. This was approved for retail and supply yard with outdoor storage.
-Ordinance up for approval retail and supply yard with outdoor storage for variance for fences for a max height of six feet. The default was four feet, but was changed to five feet not six. This is a Planning Commission item only.

[“Landscaping W/D“] The Big Pine Key Winn Dixie doesn’t need “re-landscaping”.  It needs un-landscaping at the parking lot corners and access road corners.  That just requires someone with half a brain to get off their butt for an hour and won’t cost much money at all.

Just think what would happen to the Keys if all the food markets closed, the gas stations, the … hmmm, I just realized there is only one thing left that is important to close; and that is the bars! If all of them closed, these islands would close too. Oh, the churches? Nah, they are useless anyway.

[“Ferguson killing“] It’s not a black or white situation. It’s a good guy/ bad guy situation. It’s tragic that this young man is dead. But he’s not an innocent victim. He’s a punk who strong-armed a convenience store clerk. He then defied a policeman’s order, got into a scuffle with the cop and later charged at the cop, defying him to shoot. The cop was justified. The liberal media begin every story about this with “A white cop shoots and kills an unarmed black teen”. The only victim is this public servant who was trying to enforce the laws. They have made this thug a martyr and hero and it’s sickening. I suspect there is police brutality out there, and probably does happens to blacks more often than whites, but this isn’t one of those cases. It’s like someone said on television the other night, a black middle aged man, who said it’s not a lot of white cops going around putting young black men in their graves, it’s young black men putting young black men in their graves. Why aren’t the so called black leaders addressing that problem? If you thinks this makes me a racist, pardon my language, but I call bullshit. It’s the majority of the media that’s racist. Garbage men, business owners, policemen, doctors, movie and music giants, talk show hosts and news anchors, baseball, basketball and football legends, Mayors and Governors, Senators and the President. There are so many more. Yet, less successful minorities continue to claim the same foul as their great grandfathers.  Enough is enough!

train-LittleEngineCould“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right. ~Henry Ford
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, education, money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our Attitudes.

A little railroad engine was employed about a station yard for such work as it was built for, pulling a few cars on and off the switches. One morning it was waiting for the next call when a long train of freight-cars asked a large engine in the roundhouse to take it over the hill. “I can’t; that is too much a pull for me,” said the great engine built for hard work. Then the train asked another engine, and another, only to hear excuses and be refused. In desperation, the train asked the little switch engine to draw it up the grade and down on the other side. “I think I can,” puffed the little locomotive, and put itself in front of the great heavy train. As it went on the little engine kept bravely puffing faster and faster, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.”

As it neared the top of the grade, which had so discouraged the larger engines, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, “I think … I can, I … think … I … can.” It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, “I thought I could, I thought I could.”

Have a blessed day my friends ~Coconuts

The Anatomy of Songs chart was great, but I was a little disappointed that Hip-Hop was not included. I wonder what those song characteristics would be? And in the country songs they should have included “serious whining.”

[“Melt the Mideast“] I’m glad that fool isn’t making US policy. We were right in incinerating the Japanese because they were all our enemies and they all supported the war against us and they were all in one spot. There’s was also a war of dominance. Muslims don’t live in one isolated island that we can “melt”. They live among Jews and others of those non hostile to us. How can you be assured of blasting them all into oblivion? They’re like cockroaches, if just two of them survive, those two will start Jihad all over again. They don’t have a government or country to bomb into submission. Islam is an idea. Only a fool would compare Japan’s aggression with the Mideast problem. They’re not even close and your solution is impossible and a childish one.

[Gun Nut] How come when there are thousands of murders and gun accidents, the NRA doesn’t mention them–ever? But when there is one homeowner using a gun to defend his home they post it all over the internet as if it negates the thousands of senseless murders and accidents? The NRA is as dangerous as it’s members.

While President Eisenhower played golf American fighting men were being killed by the thousands at the  very  same time.  With the decisions he had to make that meant sending those men to their deaths,  he needed a way to clear his mind regularly or he would have cracked up for sure.  All the big dogs have their outlets.  One advantage that Ike had over Obama was that there was no Fox News to hound him and rile up the rabble.  During that time Fox Folks would have been rounded up and interred some place for being involved in un-American activities and subverting the war effort.

cornhole27
Ed, the defined term for a cornhole bag scored on the playing board is “woody”. A bag scored in the hole is “cornhole”. When I stated you could slide your “woody” into your buddy’s “cornhole” I was describing an actual scoring technique. So why did you edit it? It’s just a game. (Ed: I thought I was being socially responsible.)

Mrs. FTR and I extend our deepest thanks to all who have offered kind words, good thoughts, and prayers. They have worked. Today, she is recovering very nicely from her second surgery. The pain that forced the surgery is gone….gone. She is being very well attended by a great staff of medical professionals in the ICU. We expect to back on the rock sometime around the end of the week or the first of next week. We are both anxious to kiss Broward goodbye again.

No politics tonight, this Olde Fart is just too tired. Tomorrow is another day.
