A customer suggested just posting on the main page, but I wasn’t sure if this would violate any rules about advertising. Thank you, I like your site.

batista-thug[History lesson on Batista regime in Cuba was needed] I thought the Jan. 18 editorial, “It was past time to change Cuba policy,” was outstanding for a variety of reasons. The salient message, that it is time for America to move on in its relations with Cuba, is important and a valid one. I suspect that anyone living north of Dade County will agree.

I thought the most valuable part of the editorial was your educating readers about the Batista regime. I believe that most Americans, including Cuban-Americans, have forgotten, if they ever knew about the abuses of the Batista regime that spawned Castro’s revolution. You can only view Castro in light of what came before him, which you accurately describe as “abjectly corrupt, and many who opposed the regime were killed.” You are correct that “Castro’s bloody and ruthless armed insurrection was in direct response to the regime” of Batista.

As we assess the future and our relations with Cuba, let us not forget the past.

When you talk about Batista, Castro and Cuban-American relations, it behooves one to remember that a lot of the political leadership of the Cuban-American community in Miami and Dade County, e.g. the Diaz-Balart brothers, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and others, have forbears who held public office in Cuba and otherwise supported the Batista regime. That is another fact of which most Americans, perhaps including Cuban-Americans, are unaware. They are the ones who fled Castro and camped in Miami with their American bank accounts. These are not boat people.

domino sugarYou also discuss the economic domination of Cuba by American corporations during Batista’s rule. That domination includes the Fanjul family that fled to the U.S. and restarted their business in Florida as Florida Crystals, Domino Sugar and others. In the process, they have all but destroyed the Everglades with their agricultural runoff, and have cost the American taxpayers untold millions in subsidizing sugar prices. I like to think of the Fanjuls in America as Castro’s revenge.

Again, a well-done editorial that deserves a periodic follow-up as you educate your readers about the realities of Cuban-American politics

eye-witness26[Conspiracy] At this point I need to respond to the continued 9/11 B.S that continues. Yes, a plane did crash into the Pentagon. I was there. I worked as a Firefighter for the Metro Washington Airports Authority and was sent to the Pentagon for the incident. I worked deep inside the building and witnessed the horrific scene as well as jet aircraft parts, period. Your continued stance that it did not take place is an insult to all the dedicated public safety people, military personnel, civilians, and everybody else that responded to the incidents in New York and Washington on September 11th. Enough said.  ~Paul Roxenberg, President, Big Pine Key Volunteer Fire Department
I just read this Sunday’s Wall Street Journal Magazine. To me it had no redeeming qualities. There was nothing in it I found interesting other than a few pictures of scenery. Who wants an eight thousand dollar bean bag chair or who wants to wear a four thousand dollar skirt if it makes you look underfed and depressed? People who steep themselves in fashion and culture are missing the boat and living in a fantasy world of pretension and want.
gmail emailHaving Yahoo email for over 10 years. Just got fed up with all their changes. I switched over 6 months ago and have had no problems with them. No more having to sign in all the time, then being told ‘wrong password’, or having to spend a lot of time weeding through all the junk mail and scams. Yahoo seem to make changes to their site on a daily basis. It’s easy to transfer all your contacts, file folders, etc. over to them. Remember to change your email address on all the accounts you do business with like eBay, PayPal, Walmart. Gmail is also free and offers so much more than any other service. Just set up an account, if you don’t like it don’t use it. You have nothing to loose. Good luck.

[“Conspiracy“] I watched the 9/11  Video  (click on that link to see it) provided a few days ago on the CT. I hoped it would tell me who done it, if it wasn’t Osama bin Laden and his men. I didn’t come away knowing who done it. Maybe it was Osama and his troops. Maybe they were put up to it by G.W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld; or by the CIA, or by Homeland Security, or by the FBI. I personally feel Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld were capable of doing it that way. As were the CIA, Homeland Security and the FBI. And, I feel they could have done it all by themselves and framed Osama for it. However, I do not see Americans manning B-57’s and flying them into the Trade Towers. That just is not how Americans wage war. It is how Muslim radicals wage war. So, I leave those thoughts lingering.
crab-shack26[Crab Shack Closes] To all my dear friends and customers I have made over the past four years. I have had a very bad year with being in and out of the hospital. It is with a very heavy heart that I can no longer keep the Crab Shack open. I want to thank my customers from the bottom of my heart for being so fantastic to cook for. I am going to miss you all very much.
Thank you, Barb, Owner of the Crab Shack
[Sewers] FKAA disinfects your tap water with chloramine, which is a mix of chlorine and ammonia. Chloramines rapidly deteriorate neoprene and some other rubber such as the black toilet flappers and the rubber grommet where your house sewer goes into a grinder or vacuum pit. Dummies at FKAA went with grinder pumps instead of vacuum because they get infiltration with the vacuum system and the grinder pump salesman told them they would get none with grinders. They also got a deal on a bridge with your money. Chloromine also attacks metal. Here’s a quote for you.. “A series of reports have suggested that increased use of choloramines accelerates corrosion and degradation of some metals and elastomers common to distribution plumbing and appurtenances. With regard to elastomers, the study showed that with few exceptions, solutions of chloramines (either monochloramine or dichloramine) produced greater material swelling, deeper and more dense surface cracking, a more rapid loss of elasticity, and greater loss of tensile strength than equivalent concentrations of free chlorine.”  ~Steven Reiber, HDR Engineering, American Water Works Association Research Foundation
thought26Conspiracies are thoughts by people who think their idea might be true, but cannot prove it. Others think that idea is wrong because they also cannot prove a negative. A better word for these thoughts or opinions is theory. Then both sides have to think about proving that thought.
[Another member of the IKC facing charges for almost killing a visiting family] “Almost killing”? Hey Ed, are you turning into a super market tabloid blog or what? [“Unions and wage stagnation”] I don’t see any correlation between the decline of unions and wage stagnation in this country. There are so many factors, you can’t just compare to – and you can’t stop at our boarders. It’s a global world, we need to compete in a global world. If someone else can do something at 1/4 the price – guess what, you’re not going to get a raise. I don’t care what the union says or does. What happened was that folks figured out they didn’t need to pay a union to do very little for them

Also you forgot the 80’s and the great wage increases. Try comparing wages and inflation, those are two more affiliated factors.

I’m still waiting for the public workers’ unions to get real. Currently the private and public sector pay very similar, and the public sector employees get much better benefits (find someone in a private company with a full pension, or paid medical benefits). The public sector sees a fraction of the competitive pressures and job loss. When was the last time you saw a county doing major layoffs like eBay announced on Thursday? It’s not a perfect world, but eventually all things even out.

family-from-hell[Family From Hell] What to do? What to do? I hope to God no one gets a new neighbor like I just did. This family moved in last week and already their place looks like a city dump. Their four kids are wild animals running loose and the wife is about as cultured as a hemorrhoid. The ‘father’, and I use that term loosely, does not work, does not wash and does not care what his pack of killer dogs go after, who they scare walking down the street, or where they poo. Their cats are just as bad. I do not blame them for being what they are, they obviously do not have the intellect to understand their effect on others or to care. I blame the real estate company that sold them the location and degraded our whole neighborhood’s value and environment. Pray you never have to suffer with a situation like this. If I had the money I would make them an offer they could not refuse!
[Sewers] Who in their right mind would think that a one inch sewer line won’t clog? That is the size of the pipe that comes from a grinder pump.

[Native Shaman] It is not necessary to go to South America and apprentice to a native shaman and drink of the sacred vine concoction to become a shaman, but that’s how some Americans and Europeans have done it. It’s not necessary to be a shaman to see humanity is going down the tube and taking the planet with it. It’s not necessary to be a shaman to see the root of the problem is humanity has lost the feminine, and unless she is restored into the species, it’s just going to keep going down. Just because a human is female does not mean her feminine is intact and working. Some people are moving the other way, but they are few and far between. I imagine shamans are why it isn’t worse than it already is. Not all shamans use psychotropics. Some shamans never used them. They were brought into shaman training by angels without any chemical assist. Shaman training tends to be seriously rigorous, and it’s not easy to turn it off once it starts. Nor is it safe, once it starts, to turn it off. If angels are running it, it might be impossible to turn off. Becoming a shaman is becoming conscripted, shanghaied, enslaved to something far bigger than humans can possibly imagine. This is not a theoretical comment, or something I was told. It is something I know firsthand, day and night for close to 30 years.

[Conspiracy Theory] Some of you will believe any crackpot writer. I had a friend in the Navy stationed at the Navy Annex on a rise above and west of the Pentagon. He was outside smoking a cigarette when the plane went right over his head into the Pentagon.
I was riding South through Big Pine on Wednesday between 10:15 and 10:45 am and what looked like a military helicopter was doing some crazy stunt flying, very close to the ground. What was up with that?

The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. ~Pres. George Washington, Farewell Address
plane26[“9/11 Conspiracy”] Many of the eyewitness testimony who saw the 2nd plane crash into the tower have all claimed that the plane wasn’t a commercial jet liner. It had no markings and the plane was grey colored with something that looked like or resembled a small missile attached underneath its fuselage.

Years after 9/11 President George W. Bush was giving a speech in which he said “the day of the 9/11 attacks as I was entering the classroom, I passed by the school principals office at 8:45 a.m., and saw the 1st plane crash into the 1st tower on a TV that was in the office, and I said to my secret service escort, “Boy that must be a terrible pilot”! The only problem with that testimony is that the 1st plane (alleged AA flight 11) hit the north side of the north tower at 8:46 a.m., and it wasn’t aired on national TV until the following day. The 1st news broadcast of the tower after it had gotten hit was at 8:50 a.m. on 9/11!

Another curious fact is that the remaining rubble of both towers was only 10 stories high. A building that was over 108 stories high should leave rubble debris anywhere over 40 to 50 stories high. The majority of the buildings (70%) actually disintegrated into dust. How is that possible?

Alleged family members of the alleged passengers that were on board the planes commented that they received cell phone calls from their loved ones while on board the planes. The only problem with this testimony is that it was impossible back then to make a cell phone call while on a plane because cell phones didn’t work on planes.

According to the passenger manifest of flight 11, on board were two former Marines and a Black belt 5th degree, and these three plus the air marshal couldn’t disarm some guys with box cutters?

Attached is an actual image of the plane that crashed into the 2nd tower.

[The 1% Tries to Empathize] Six Weeks’ Paid Leave Opposed By People With Thirty-Three Weeks’ Paid Leave ~by Andy Borowitz

President Obama’s proposal to give workers six weeks of paid leave is meeting strong opposition from a group of people who annually receive thirty-three weeks of paid leave. Members of the group heard the President’s proposal on Tuesday night, one of the few nights of the year when they are required to report to their workplace. The opponents of paid leave, who show up for work a hundred and thirty-seven days per year and receive paid leave for the other two hundred and twenty-eight, were baffled by other moments in the President’s speech. For example, they were confused by Obama’s challenge to try to survive on a full-time job that pays fifteen thousand dollars, since they all currently hold a part-time job that pays a hundred and seventy-four thousand dollars.

[“Bike rider”] If the writer commenting on riding on the illegal side of the road weren’t so serious, I’d be laughing. Of course the bike trail system is not finished. We can see that. We can also see that where they end, there are posts and the pavement does not connect to the highway. That is the end of that section. In what universe does that mean to proceed to the road shoulder and ride on the illegal side of the road in an unlawful manner? That just endangers those cyclists riding lawfully. Instead please cross the highway and follow the arrows kindly provided by the department of transportation.

Any one should know that garbage trucks beep when the truck is put in reverse. It is an automatic function that complies with insurance regulations and probably a city ordinance or two. The bottom of the trigger housing group and ejection port are visible beneath the “squirt gun camouflage.” The next time you see or read a headline bashing police for shooting someone with a “Toy” or “Replica” gun, remember this picture. Indianapolis PD confiscated this “toy” water gun during an arrest, after they realized that the suspect has hidden a Mossberg 12GA shotgun inside it, and it was a fully functioning weapon disguised to fool police. [“9/11 conspiracy”] They have 4 planes missing, how else can that happen unless United and American were part of the conspiracy? So under the conspiracy that United or American didn’t slam into the WTC or Pentagon, which airline employee conspirator is going to take the hit with FAA for filing a false Statement (18 USC 1001) and subsequent lies. There is a paper trail signature for every required step with a human being (witness) getting the necessary paperwork. Well between the facts that the supposed hi-jackers showed up a few days later, still, pilots and the airplanes where spotted a few days later. Larry Silverstien is a greasy businessman and the buildings imploded in their own footprint. And what the buildings have in common , the ones that went down that day, never before in the 100 year history of steel framed skyscrapers, is that they were leased by grease ball Larry. All the engineers and architects’ testimony, and some ended up dead, warrants a second look. Get out of your dream world and face the facts! Too many unanswered questions, and every time they try to explain it away they get in deeper talking shit that doesn’t happen in the real world.
soup26I had a fine dinner at the soup kitchen yesterday. Standing in line outside the kitchen, waiting to be served, I spoke for a while with a younger fellow, maybe early 30s, who said he’s been here 12 years and used to stay at KOTS (Key West’s overnight homeless shelter), but was ejected for getting into a fight with someone who had stolen some of his belongings. He said he actually prefers living outside, because of the theft problem at KOTS, and because there is a lot black mold in the dormitories, which is painted over. He had a lot of congestion while he stayed at KOTs, but it cleared up after he started living outside. He said KOTS was run better and was cleaner, when Florida Keys Outreach Coalition (FKOC) managed it for the city.

punch[And Justice shall prevail] One 25-year-old man named Carlos had to learn this the hard way last week in Florida, and it was all caught on video. The clip begins with Carlos unsuccessfully propositioning, then profanely insulting a group of women on the beach. Then the father of one of them comes over to calmly ask why Carlos is so upset. Dad keeps remarkable composure while the beach brute continues his immature behavior. But then matters quickly escalate when the young creep threatens the older man and starts calling his daughter, including other girls on the beach horrible names:
“I’m going to knock this old ass dude out, bro. I’m f**king 25 years old, and you’re all stupid c**ts and stupid dykes”Then, being the punk that he is, he decides to take a swing at the ‘old ass dude.’ Big mistake, Carlos! Video
[“Missing 9/11 planes”] Not really. “Loose Change” and the investigators of a couple of other videos found at least one of them. Just watch the video before dismissing the evidence that you have not even seen presented. What are you afraid of? That the truth is contagious? It is you know. If evil people have no problem causing the death of innocent people in the Twin Towers and many of their rescuers, why would you think they would not as easily destroy a few planes and everyone aboard? It’s called collateral damage. I was very close to a now deceased OSS operative (preceded CIA, et al. Link)

He did not give details as he was warned that his entire family would be killed if he revealed much, but he told me that his team assassinated people who were supposedly on our side and did other dirty deeds that would be blamed on others. He said his orders on such a mission were to kill anyone who saw him, be it an innocent mother and baby or whomever. His was a very tormented post traumatic stress existence with frequent nightmares, and he was terrified of dying because of what he had done “in the distinguished service of his country.” Maybe it was a little comforting that he died slowly enough to have a priest give him Last Rites a few times. I am sure there are a few more Americans carrying heavy secrets and guilt after 9/11. Except for the psychopaths, and there are lots more around than you think!

So what distinguishes “liberals” from the rest of us is how they care and think about others? You mean…all that Democrat, progressive, liberal thinking…that went into creating hell holes like Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Newark, Philadelphia…and the list goes on. Every major city which is a center of poverty is run by Democrats. Every major city. Their policies have failed, they’re not willing to admit and the fact is it’s the poor who suffer from bad government.
