As of Monday, there were 18 COVID-19 patients in Lower Keys Medical Center, with one on a ventilator and five in the intensive care unit. (COVID-19 numbers for Fishermen’s Community Hospital in Marathon and Mariners Hospital in Tavernier weren’t available). 69 new cases on Monday, with 13 being children. Last week, the Keys reported 504 new COVID-19 cases, which means the Keys are averaging 72 new cases as day.

The city of Key West is tracing the level of COVID-19 within city limits via its wastewater treatment system and that tracing is showing a large uptick as well. The presence of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen is shed in human waste and flows from homes and offices to the treatment plant.  Link

[Afghanistan] Twenty years ago they told us they liked living in the Middle Ages and didn’t understand or want democracy. They wanted to be led. They are tribal. They got their wish. We trained them and supplied them with the best arms and equipment for twenty years and the army dissolved in a few days without a shot being fired.

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a  man standing in a bucket and  trying to lift himself up by the handle.  ~ Winston Churchill

[Covid Beds] Can you please list on the Coconut Telegraph the number of ICU beds available in Key West & Marathon for those of us who are traveling to the Keys? The state of Florida will only list this once a week and then add up dramatic numbers. We enjoy visiting the Keys and the best restaurants at least twice a year since international travel is not an option. If the uptick continues, it would be irresponsible to travel, even though we are mask wearers and only dine outside. Your Governor is a moron and I applaud the people of Key West for trying to stand up against the big cruise ships. But y’all need to keep wearing masks along with your precious little children and get vaccinated.

[For Sale] Afghanistan Army weapons slightly used, only dropped once. Cheap!

[Landlord Tenant] Florida’s Landlord/Tenant Law defines common terms associated with renting a dwelling and establishes the obligations and acceptable practices of both the landlord and the tenant. Link

[Ramen Noodle Stir Fry] Your favorite quick meal gets an upgrade! Try this ramen noodle stir fry for a simple, comforting dish that has been elevated with flavor. Link

Sleeping alone is heaven to me. We have adjoining bedrooms because I snore and toss and turn a lot. I hate it when my spouse sleeps with me all night because I can’t toss and turn for fear of her wrath when I cause her to wake.

Two trillion dollars wasted on Afghanistan. Enough to pay for all of Biden’s infrastructure plan and more. Not to mention the thousands of lives lost — and for what? “You got to know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em.” The US played and lost big.

[Rainwater] harvesting and storing rainwater in your garden is an important step to take on the road to a more eco-friendly and sustainable way of life. Link

Lost in translation. Sign of the times.

What happens if you don’t wear a hijab in Iran? The punishment for being seen in public without a headscarf includes arrest, a prison sentence, flogging or a fine – all this for the “crime” of exercising their right to choose what to wear. All women do not wear the veil by choice, and they are forced to cover their heads and bodies.
[Mouthwash & Covid] Three list completely different studies in this video. One from India, one from Germany, one from Malaysia.
All 4 groups gargled 3 times a day for 7 days
Group 1 Given povidone / iodine
Group 2 Given Listerine Gargle – essential oils
Group 3 Given Hydrogen Peroxide
Group 4 Given water only
Good mouthwashes destroy the membrane surrounding the virus cells.  Listerine is very effective. Results

[Postage Up] USPS will raise prices of first-class postage stamps to 58 cents from 55 cents starting August 29. Other postage rate increases on October 3. Link

[Fewer Ads] I like the Coconut Telegraph because it’s almost all CT — not ads. There are just ads at the top and bottom. With most sites today there are too many ads and videos chopping up the content. Recipe sites are the worst. You have to scroll for a mile to get the whole thing. And every ad wants to take you somewhere else. What’s a mother to do?

The happiest people make the best of everything they have. A love story. THE RAIN

[“Safe America”] A lot of Afghan children were given the opportunity to relocate to Chicago but declined because of safety concerns.

[Sending Slime To Space] The Blob, formally known as Physarum polycephalum, is a type of single-cell slime mold that has fascinated scientists for years. It can heal itself, smell and find food, and even solve mazes. It also has more than 700 sexes. Now, it has gone to space. Link

I want to be 14 again and ruin my life differently. I have new ideas.

[Afghanistan] Does anyone have any idea of the vast number of weapons and equipment the Americans left? Just left it there for the Taliban to use against non-believers.

Camel farts are effecting the weather.

[Movies] Science fiction movies all have an interesting scientific plot or premise. When that runs out they run and chase each other for the rest of the movie
[Afghanistan] 2 trillion spent in Afghanistan. Where did the money come from? How come we can’t find the money to rebuild America’s collapsing infrastructure but there’s plenty for unwinnable war? Did anyone really think Afghans would welcome democracy. All they’ve constantly said is that they want all foreign troops out of Afghanistan. That was and still is their rallying cry. We’ve ignored that in favor of politics

[A Cold Night In Hell] The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. Some people are so smart and funny.  “Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof.” Link

[Censorship] China made Apple censor the songs telling of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. In 1989, Chinese Protestors marched with a banner that stated “Give Me Democracy or Give Me Death”.    They didn’t get Democracy. I looked up images of Tiananmen Square.  Lookey here, it never happened.  This photo is marked HOAX on the Chinease internet. “massacrewatchpro.com” has been taken offline too. Like it never happened.

[Road Rage] I realized I’ve got a road rage problem, when my five year old granddaughter shouted, “Pick a f***ing lane, you dickhead!” While sitting in the grocery cart
