 [Turtles] Friday afternoon I was snorkeling in the Atlantic Straits. W SW winds at about 4 to 6 mph. 14 to 16 foot depth. I saw not 1, not 2, but 3 sea turtles! Momma was about 4’ and two young ones about 1 1/2’. They were gently gliding through the sea, using their front fins to propel, and their rear ones as rudders to direct them. Beautiful. Had to pinch myself and thank the higher powers for giving me 61 years. I’m glad I don’t waste my time on television. It’s rare, but we do not own a television. |

Every winter Snowbirds from Texas rented neighbor’s house across canal and replaced yellow lights with super bright floods on side of house and multiple floods shining on their boat in canal. We could not sit in our screened porch at night due to being blinded. They were so obnoxious and had to make cell phone calls from the deck so were always yelling into phone. They got nailed by landlord when were caught renting out rooms during Fantasy Fest, violating the lease agreement so were rid of them. We used colored lights (green or blue) to light up the stairs so as not to disturb anyone. Unfortunately most people are self-centered A-holes these days. |

 [COVID-19 Rental Assistance] During the January 5 City of Key West Commission meeting, a stop-gap proposal was made by local health, nonprofit, faith-based and business representatives to assist the Key West community during the next few critical months of the pandemic. The Commission recognized if ever there were a moment to step in and fill the gap, that time is now, and the Mayor and Key West City Commission unanimously approved up to $500,000 to assist local residents. The goal is to keep community members healthy and safe, stabilize households and retain residents here in Key West. UWCK will work alongside 9 other local non-profits to connect the City’s support to our residents. To be eligible, residents must have documented significant financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 and be a City of Key West resident or a Stock Island resident who works in Key West. |
I’ve noticed that cardinals fly in an erratic pattern, up and down, never flying horizontal. I assume it is a defensive trait making it harder for predators to scoop them up. |
| [What’s Normal] A few weeks ago someone posted an educational comment on what we are seeing in our commercials, and the direction society is going. There is one commercial that I didn’t really understand until the other day when the new President signed the order that we are all equal. I have no problem with that, but the fact that boys can now play on girls’ teams goes too far for me. The commercial is for Uber Eats. It is Jonathan from Queer Eye and the little girl doing gymnastics. Is this what our future looks like! Is this supposed to be the norm? |
