SECOND ANNUAL KEY WEST BOCCE INVITATIONAL- The top four teams, playoff winner and three remaining teams with the best season records, (same tie-break system will be used as was used for playoff seeding) have been invited to take part once again in the Key West Bocce league playoffs and will play their (4) sixth place teams. If any of the qualifying teams are unable or uninterested in participating, the team with the next best record will be offered the opportunity. The qualifying teams are:

1.Old Wooden Bridge Knock-N-Rollers

2. Big Torch Bocce Bums

3.Billie's Ball Busters 4.Boondocks

DeBOCCEry is first alternate Their tournament is a big event and takes place Saturday, June 11th starting at 10 AM. The courts are located across from the White St. pier. Food and beer will be provided at no cost. It was be a great experience for our members last season and many from our league came down to cheer on the Big Pine teams . The courts are slower, wider and have a clay surface. You may want to check them out first. Let's go kick ass! Call Nicole if you have questions. 395-2874

Bocce Playoff Information

The playoffs will be held on Saturday, April 30^th and will start at 10:00 AM. Because we have only 4 bocce courts, we wish to avoid a 2 day playoff, and we do not want an extremely long day, we will be using an 8 team, two out of three, single elimination format.. The three first place teams, the three second place teams, and the remaining two teams with the most points in the standings will participate.

Make up games must be completed no later than 4-25-11.

Remember that you must have four eligible players on your team to compete. In the case of ties:

1. If two or more teams are tied for first place on their night, they all are in.

2. If two or more teams are tied for second place on their night, they are all in.

3. Any remaining spots to complete a field of eight will be filled by the wild card team(s) with the most points.

4. If there are multiple ties for first and / or second resulting in filling the 8 team field, there will be no wild card team. If the multiple ties result in more than 8 teams being eligible, we will use this tie-break scenario for the tied second place teams. The same system will be used for seeding.

5. The first tie-break is most points per season ending standings.

6. The second tie-beak is the record in head to head competition

7. The third tie-break is total number of points scored in the season.

8. The fourth tie-break is a coin flip.

The #1 seeded team having the best record will play the #8 seeded team having the worst record. #2 will play #7 and so forth. Winner of two out of three moves forward in the bracket.

The Key West playoffs on Saturday Dec. 4^th featured the Fab-U-Lushes, No Balls No Glory, Luxury Cabinet Maker and the Old Wooden Bridge Knock-N-Rollers against the four 6^th place Key West teams. No Big Pine league team beat a Key West team but a great time was had by all. We will have to get them next year.

How 'bout them Fab-U-Lushes? The girls posted an impressive victory coming from the seventh seed and winning the playoffs handily, losing only one game in their three match performance. You go girls!

Hope you were at the party. The food  and service were terrific and we did not run out of beer. Tom at the New Island Grill was a gracious host and a good time was had by all.

The teams heading to the Key West playoffs on Saturday Dec. 4^th are the Fab-U-Lushes, No Balls No Glory and the Luxury Cabinet Maker. The Big Torch Bocce Bums and the Old Wooden Bridge Knock-N-Rollers tied for the remaining slot with 40 points. Note: The top four teams (playoff winner and three remaining teams with the best season records) have been invited to take part in the Key West Bocce league playoffs. If any of those qualifying teams are unable or uninterested in participating, the team with the next best record will be offered the opportunity. Their tournament is a big event and takes place Saturday, December 4^th at 11 AM to 5 PM. The courts are located across from the White St. pier. Food and drink (they get to openly drink beer there!) will be provided at no cost. It is a double elimination format. You play 1 game and then move on in the bracket or to the loser's bracket for 1 game. It will be a great experience for our members. The courts are longer, wider and have a clay surface. Playoff information:
The playoffs will be held on Saturday, November 20 and will start at 10 AM. The top 4 teams from each night will participate. The #1 team with the best record will play the #8 team with the worst record, #2 will play #7 and so forth. Winner of two out of three moves forward in the bracket. Remember to bring drinks, food and chairs as it can be a long day. Also remember that consumption of alcohol is prohibited. Benches at court side are for team members currently playing.

All make up games remaining for this season must be completed by Thursday November 18^th at the latest.

Party information:
This years Party to be held at the New Island Grill on Big Pine on Sunday, November 21 from 1 PM to 4 pm. The party is for all players & spouse / guest. Prizes to be awarded to players only. The menu will be mild and jerk wings, pizza, peel & eat shrimp, Caesar salad, and blackened chicken Alfredo. Yum! Bud and Bud Lt. Draft will be provided. See ya there.

Winter League information:
Next season is tentatively scheduled for sign up Jan. 10^th @ 6:00 PM at the park and runs from Jan. 17^th thru April 18^th.  We hope to have 8 teams on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If they fill up we could possibly open up Thursday night also. Last years Winter season teams are automatically in for the nights of the week they always played on. Open spots on any of the nights go to the first teams who commit.
