[Masons Revealed] To the post regarding the Sheriff's department and its Masonic influence:  Try this on the next county deputy who pulls you over.  First, acquire a Masonic logo/emblem and put it on the rear of your vehicle.  The next time a law enforcement officer stops you and takes note of it, he will usually inquire of you "which way do you travel"?  That's the Masonic secret/coded question to verify if indeed you are a "brother in the lodge".  Answer with "I travel east, in search of the sun".  Then, after he cuts you your inevitable "break"--- and he will---thank him and shake his hand while gently squeezing the knuckle of his middle finger while covering that act with your other hand.  You'll be home free.  No ticket, no fine, no hassle---guaranteed. 

I know, I've played this silly "bubba" game with these corrupt "servants" for years.  In fact, the last time I engaged in the charade was with a Monroe County motorcycle cop that needlessly hassled me one sunny afternoon on Big Pine Key. Try  it, you'll like it!  Sorry, you corrupt cops, your game has been exposed. 

An additional fact is that in some states you can't even join the its State Trooper force unless you are a Masonic member, or agree to start the process to become one.  In other situations, you cannot even get on the ballot for sheriff in some states and counties unless you are a "member brother" in good standing of the Masoic Lodge. Believe it. I have never been a member of the "brotherhood". My grandfather was a Master Mason (and in fact lies buried in a Masonic cemetery) and he enlightened me as to the inner-workings of his "craft". These characters do indeed take secret blood oaths. It is the ultimate "Bubba System".  Their secret lodge is the center of the true (and concealed) power of any local community. Believe it. “I'm on the level, I'm on the square".   

We all know that Obama is indeed a Muslim terrorist he also was with Adolph Hitler in the bunker but left right before the poison pill. Obama was the man responsible for the sinking of the Titanic and he also has taken vacations at Osama Bin Ladens home during the winters. Obama wants every tax cent paid to the government to go towards his "kick a puppy" campaign. Obama refuses to even buy 1 cookie from the Girl Scouts and thinks Gazpacho is Pinochio’s father. Obama is secretly a spy for the Russians and as soon as he takes office he will be sneaking secrets to them. Obama lowered his tax cuts for the middle class to 25 cents. Anyone that makes more then 25 cents will see a tax increase of $45 bazillion dollars. Obama wants to make Portugese our national language and wants all Americans to sing the Micky Mouse club song when pledging allegience to the flag. It would take a complete loser and a national disgrace to lose an election to him. How could anyone lose an election to Obama? Wait I know. The election is really a huge fraud and 15 trillion votes would have to be mysteriously counted by secret agents from the old James Bond movies. Truth in America is indeed stranger then fiction. The next thing you know, Joe the Plumber really won’t be a plumber. Yeah, like that could ever happen.

[Bartender’s Reply] Deer unsatisfied customer,  I do say hello to every customer at my bar, usually even asking how you are, only to be met with-"GIMME A BEER". No hello. No, I'm doing well--nothing but gimme. So I try it again, "Hi folks, how're you doing today? What can I get you?" Sometimes it works, usually not. I do not expect a tip from the gimme's as they are the ones that say, "If it's free, it's for me" and I am rarely surprised by the lack of a tip. They also have to wait a long time for the next round--usually storming off in a huff if I ignore them in favor of my regulars who do tip, some not heavily, but they are nice and fun and a pleasure to have sitting at my bar.

I have even been told how to make a Screwdriver, that I almost made a Long Island Tea correctly and that my Margaritas are great. Wow,  imagine that, the last 30 years in the biz weren't in vain. The person telling me about the almost correct a Long Island Tea was 22. I checked his ID. I laughed and continued on. I still love my job. Usually.

Becky Herrin has been going back and forth with Ken Davis on this site, and in the Citizen.  In fair defense of Ken, I wanted to show this was not Becky's first "rodeo", nor is she credible. Becky Herrin attacked me early on in the race when she printed on this site that I had two active trespass warnings at the Sheriff's Office.

She knew she was lying when she wrote it; because she previously sent a press release to Dennis Cooper stating exactly the opposite.  The MCSO cover-up that followed caused new problems.  Internal Affairs created documents to show Becky had just made a "mistake."

I told Internal Affairs to read Becky Herrin's official statements in Key West The Newspaper that "no documents existed."  Internal Affairs then destroyed their new "not supposed to exist" documents. Sheriff Roth was left with the mess.

Becky Herrin's libel and Internal Affairs Cindy Peryam's attempted cover-up. Roth decided "he would do what he always did in these instances--ignore it". This is a quote directly delivered to me by the Sheriff's Attorney at Roth's request.

I could have filed a lawsuit for libel against MCSO because Becky is the Official Spokesperson for MCSO, and her statements made about me while I was running for office were untrue and intended to harm.  But, I don't want a lawsuit, I just want her fired because she is a liability to taxpayers in this County, so is Cindy Peryam and Bob Peryam.

[Anti Obama] “Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.  Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. 

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.  I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I 've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.  At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more.  I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.”

[Veteran's Day Parade] A number of military units, veterans' groups and other patriotic units are prepared to march through the streets of downtown Key West on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. to pay tribute to America's veterans, past and present, during the city's annual Veteran's Day parade.

[Who's Pet Project Is Trauma Star?]  Who is paying for the posters and full page ads in the local papers?  I hope that's not my tax dollars! I went to the Monroe County Sheriff's website to learn more about this huge county expense.  According to the information provided by the county, only 23% of the total charges have been collected between Nov 2006 and June 2008.  $1.7M remains hanging there like a noose for county taxpayers.  When I look at the fiscal year 07-08 budget, it appears the cost to operate Trauma Star is over $2.2M.  This is one expensive, county service.  

Trying to be an educated voter, I spoke to the supervisors at the commercially-owned Life Net at Lower Keys Hospital.  There have been times when Trauma Star was dispatched to accidents that were literally across the street from Life Net.  I asked why and learned helicopter dispatching goes through Monroe County dispatchers so it's no wonder Trauma Star is sent to the scene of an accident. According to the Life Net operators I spoke to, Life Net is ready to do the job and enter into a contract with the county, even leasing facilities and services in Marathon, thus creating a revenue stream for the county.  Life Net has approached the county for negotiating a contract but it sounds like they're talking to the wrong people. 

Folks, the federal government learned about outsourcing a long time ago.  The taxpayers should not be shouldering the bill for something that's commercially available.  Many other counties in Florida have dropped government-owned helicopter services in favor of commercial services because it's too expensive.  However, if Monroe County decides to keep Trauma Star, then perhaps they should be leasing the helicopter.  The current airframe is not the most economical one available in the long run.  And here's one last interesting fact I also learned from the county's website. Of the 231 transports made by Trauma Star in the 20 month period ending this past July, only 98 were for trauma. 

I sure like the odds that I'll never need this service personally.  I'm more likely to win the lottery than need Trauma Star.  And if I needed it, I can count on my insurance to cover the commercial cost.

[Property Rights] There is one thing all my critics can’t deny about my years of property right advocacy.  By mine and others’ barrage on property rights lawsuits filed recently we have definitely move the County, State and Federal governments to finality confront the issues of the taking of private property.  If there is one thing I can be proud of, it would be that.  Now I will fight to have these government entities purchase these lots and add the costs to our ever increasing tax burdens.  For many years I have been an advocate to allow property owners to build on their property to increases the tax base and lesson the tax burden on Monroe County, State of Florida and Federal tax payers.  These efforts have apparently landed on deaf ears.  So now I will join the ranks of the environmental pirates, NIMBYs and I-got-miners to push their agendas forward.

[Anti Obama] The Associated Press  said Thursday that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.” The article is very critical of his health care scheme, his budget cutting promises; his tax cut sales pitch, and his Iraq withdrawal proposal.  The article says that his promises will cause us to be faced with a $1 Trillion deficit next year alone. Grab yer ankles, hide the cat.

The Masons are not such a secret organization, just look them up on Google, there's plenty of information on "the boys club".  It's true they do have a not-so-secret handshake and a 32 degree pecking order.  Many members wear a ring indicating membership.

Check out how many of our Presidents and leadership both past and present were/are members of that "secret society".  Also, check out the voodoo tales of how the streets of Washington DC, the monuments and the National Mall were all supposedly laid out to depict Masonic signs when viewed from the air.  Anybody know what number appears virtually out-of-sight at the top of the Washington Monument?

While you're at it, check out the organization at Yale - Skull and Bones - whose membership includes President George H.W. Bush and John Kerry among others of the New World Order's elite.

[Obama] You blow-hards who keep posting and hoping for a miracle every day scared me into voting early this year for Obama.  And I'm not a party line voter.  Locally, I voted for six democrats and six republicans.  Honestly, do you really believe anyone could be worse than eight years of your Bush/Cheney?  And you are such hypocrites.  How come you aren't posting about this weeks news about talks with the Taliban and cross border incursions into Syria and Pakistan by the U.S. military?  You all screamed loudly when Obama suggested taking out bin Laden if he was found in Pakistan.  All you care about is your wallet.  How sad when there are many more important issues out there.  

It was not until 1920  that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote. Women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed  nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking for the vote. By the end of the night, they were barely alive.  Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing  went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of  'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'

Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party, remember to vote.

[Trauma Star] "I've never seen it, don't know anyone who's used it, but "they" say, "We've gotta have it!" I ask a very simple question, "Why?"? For Sandy Downs and her friend, the following is my “emotion provoking ad” pleading with the voters to vote for the Trauma Star? I posted it on the Topix website but it seems that it’s needed here as well. Additionally, I would like to relay an invitation to Sandy’s friend that has never met anyone who has used the Trauma Star to simply visit our local Key West Radio Shack and introduce herself to my son. He will be easy to locate among the employees as he is the young kid with the smile on his face, although he is in constant pain and limping still from his injuries. Unfortunately you have no idea just how badly you need it here in the Keys until it is your life or the life of your loved one that is being saved. Unfortunately I know first-hand.

The Trauma Star is there when you need it most; where you need it most. The cost is trivial when it's your life and limbs at stake. I believe the Trauma Star will be holding an open house at the Marathon Airport on November 1 for those who have never seen it.

Why should I vote for Trauma Star?  I have health insurance so any emergency flight service required will be paid by my insurance.  There is a commercial service that provides that.  If I'm in an automobile accident and I don't have health insurance, my auto insurance policy will pay for it; and if it proves to be the other person's fault, then his insurance pays the bill.  So why should I pay the tax to keep this service when I already have it covered?  Is my tax to be used to cover those who are not insured?  It seems to me a tax charge I can live without.  If I'm wrong, please let me know. 

McCain postings here about redistribution of wealth should learn some history. The Earned Income Credit is a redistribution of wealth and was supported and signed by Ronald Reagan. Most taxes redistribute wealth. And these people don't have to worry because the actions and inactions of the Bush administration will make certain that you don't have to worry any more about being rich and paying more taxes.

The elite are slowly filling their pockets with our life savings and they won’t stop until we are all poor, no more middle class just rich or poor. So if you vote for either party you will just get more of the same. The democratic system was never meant to have just 2 parties. It was made so anyone could run and have an equal chance of winning, but the greedy have manipulated it to the point that if you are not a dem. or rep. you aren't anything. So now as long as they contribute greatly to each of the 2 parties they win. That means someone has to lose, guess who?

The easiest way to save our country is as simple as abolishing the federal reserve system. Only 2 Presidents have attempted to do this and both were assassinated!

Also can anyone tell me why a convicted felon can not vote, but a convicted felon can be a senator, governor or president of the United States?

We do wish you success in Iraq , and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

[Anti Obama] Here’s the truth about Obama’s “hire an American” tax plan. The Obama has ordained that he will graciously and in the spirit of beneficence, grant a $3,000 tax credit to businesses for each new hire. The slimy SOB thinks that you’re a complete idiot and he thinks that this will fool you into voting for him.  Every person who has ever legally hired a new worker knows that the cost of the hiring includes the new wages plus about 30-35% in additional taxes and expenses.  Things like FICA, Social Security, Medicare, workers comp insurance premiums, etc. So, if you pay the new kid $40K, it costs the you that salary plus about $14K. Remember that in order to justify any new hire, there has to be business to warrant the hire.  New hires are there to make a profit for the business. The Obama’s $3k sucks!  The Obama’s fiscal scheme will strangle business, it will kill employment. Remember, no business--no employees.

You only need two tools in life, WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

[School Superintendent] "Andy Griffiths and I (Debra Walker) attended the Florida School Boards Association's legislative session and heard that in 2009-2010, the state has already projected [making] a $3.5 billion cut statewide," Walker said Monday. While the numbers are shocking, the reasons are no surprise. Doctor Fred Colvad has been warning the school Board and his opponent Randy Acevedo of this coming economic down turn for several months. The state Department of Education gets much of its funding from sales taxes -- especially from large-ticket items such as homes and autos. "That money is gone," Walker said.

This from Walker who time and time again has blasted John Dick and Steve Primbramsky for so called micro managing and nick picking Acevedo's quest to spend more and more of our tax dollars without  any thought of fiscal responsibility. The budget was cut to 88 million but is rising to over 91 million dollars. Currently Acevedo supporters say that he is a nice guy and he listens to them when they whine. They just don't get it.

[Everyone Is Important] During my second month of college, our professor  gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student  and had breezed through the questions until I read  the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"  Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the  cleaning woman several times. She was tall,  dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question  blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if  the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,  you will meet many people. All are significant. They  deserve your attention and care, even if all you do  is smile and say "hello."

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.  How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?  Kermit the frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper , and everyone cries when they sing " its not easy being green".  Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ants house where the news stations film the group singing " we shall overcome" Jesse then has the group kneel down and pray to god for the grasshoppers sake.  Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has got rich off the back of the grasshopper , and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his far share.  Hillary and Barack go on national tv agreeing that the plight of the grasshopper is the fault of George Bush.  Finally , the EEOC drafts the economic equity and ant grasshopper act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer, the ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs, and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes , his house is confiscated by the government.  Obama gets his old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of Federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single parent welfare recipients.  The ant loses the case.  The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bit of the ants food while in the government house he is in , which just happens to be the ants old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it ......The Ant disappeared in the snow.  The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident , and the house , now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood. 
Moral of the story:  Please be careful who you vote for.

[Strobe Light] The staff of US 1 Radio and Conch Country apologize profusely for the Ramrod Key Death Strobe.  As part of our efforts to improve the signal and service of our stations, we have built a new, stronger 500-foot tower.  But, as with any major project, there have been delays and glitches.  A crew that specializes in radio towers is returning to the Keys this week to correct the troublesome lighting problem.  Every night, we have had our staff engineer manually set the controls to night-time mode (non-intrusive, flashing red lights), but something is causing the controls to revert to the bright day-time strobe.  The alternative -- totally unplugging the lights -- would put us in trouble with the FAA, and risk the danger of an aircraft collision.  So, bear with us.  This frustrating problem should be corrected this week. [Infrastructure] Someone is mad that the democrats want to spend money repairing our nation’s infrastructure. The Republicans haven’t spent anything of note on our crumbling bridges and roads for the last eight years. And now the poster wants four more years of national neglect. That really irks me because the conservatives will spend any amount requested to bailout Wall Street, but make it seem like a crime to want to fix our infrastructure which will fix our roads and bridges and create many new high paying jobs. Yea right, I know, elect the conservatives, the party of “Me and My Money.”

Mario DiGennaro, our current Mayor of the BOCC is going to be losing his job as the Mayor now that the voters of Monroe County have spoken by voting out "The Gang of Three".  Mario has been appointed as speaker to FEMA (downstairs enclosures)  which is located in Washington.  Has our current Mayor put himself in this position so he will be able to travel to Washington?  Should we keep an eye on Mario concerning this area?

[Strobe Lights] Some brain-dead bureaurocrat that sits behind a desk and makes uninformed decisions for the rest of us is responsible for the strobes on the radio tower. Strobes are the "in" lights despite the fact they blind the very pilots they were intended to protect. Cockpit lights are red because red does not destroy your night vision. Red is the color of choice for automotive tail lights for the same reason. Strobes are very easy to see, even in low visibility, but if the visibility is that bad, a plane shouldn't be at that altitude anyway. Strobes are also very hard to get a handle on how far away they are because of the short duration of the flash. No time to focus and judge the distance. Do you like following a school bus with it's white strobe blinding you? How about the police cruisers that have strobes? The old, long duration flashing lights are a much better and safer choice.

[Anti-Obama] America, you want political honesty that is as frightening as it gets. Listen to Barack Obama and his views of redistribution of the wealth and the US Constitution be damned. The hell with what the founding fathers had in plan and the heck with the Constitution, Barack Obama’s visions to achieve “social justice” through “redistributive change” are right and our founding fathers were wrong. There is change you can not only believe in but are about to empower.

Yesterday a poster said that we middle class tax payers deserved a tax break, and he claimed that Obama would give it to us. Donkey Dung, that’s a whopping stinking Obama lie.  If Obama intends to pay for all that he promises to do, it will be impossible unless he hikes taxes across the board. Plus, Obama has a dirty taxation secret that is only rarely mentioned.  Obama and the Democrats have already told us that they will not renew the Bush tax cuts on the middle class. When those cuts die, every one of us will be paying higher taxes, lots higher.  Obama will insult your intelligence and say that letting the Bush tax cuts die is not a tax increase even though you will be paying a lot more in taxes.  Here is the impact:  Tax rates will rise substantially in each tax bracket, some by 450 basis points;

Low-income taxpayers will see the 10-percent tax bracket disappear, and they will have to pay taxes at the 15-percent rate; Married taxpayers will see the marriage penalty return; Taxpayers with children will lose 50 percent of their child tax credits; Taxes on dividends will increase beginning on January 1, 2009.

There are a lot more tax increases in your Obama future, look it up for yourself, show a little gumption, show a little pride in yourself. Toss out the Kool-Aid you’ve been seduced into drinking.  I sure hope that Ed is right, I hope that fear will sell a little sense to at least a few folks who read this site. It’s your country to lose.

Barney said “After the November election, Democrats will push for a second economic stimulus package that includes money for the states' stalled infrastructure projects, along with help paying for healthcare expenses, food stamps and extended unemployment benefits.”  Barney also wants to slash the military by 25%. In the same interview he said: "We'll have to raise taxes.” Do you Democrats really, I mean really think that this is good for America? 

[McCain] No one is trying to scare people into voting for McCain, it is just plain and simple; listen to him. He is on the road to socializing America, you work for your money to keep it in your pocket, not to give it away so someone who is not working or paying income tax will get a free ride. You see what happened to Cuba because the people believed in the savior, Castro.

I totally agree with the writer who said this site is awash with political hogwash. You are about to lose me to as a contributor and a reader. If I wanted to know about this stuff I'd read the paper, watch TV, listen to the radio or talk to my friends. Stop all political rhetoric.

[Fear Sells] Wake up! On Monday a radio interview of Obama in 2001 surfaced that provides stark proof of Obama’s socialism. I urge you to listen to it. In the interview it is crystal clear that redistribution of wealth is at the core of his heart.  He says that the Constitution is wrong on that issue and that it should be changed. In Obama’s USA he will decide how much money everyone should make, and he will take from the higher earners as give it to the lesser earners.  In Obama’s USA the governed are the wards of the State. In Obama’s USA he will decide what jobs are to be had, where they will be had, how many employees each business shall have, how much businesses shall charge, and the rate of pay for employees. Obama will provide our healthcare, he will decide what modalities of treatment shall be applied, who shall be treated, where they will be treated, and when. Health care will be rationed, and life and death decisions will be regulated by the Obama. In Obama’s USA cash awards will be mandated for those whose ancestors suffered under slavery.  In Obama’s USA those who are considered to be critical of the State will be sanctioned.  Obama’s campaign and his minions have already begun this practice just ask Joe the Plumber and a host of others. While McCain wants to give millions more to companies that ship American jobs overseas Obama will allow every business that hires an America instead of outsourcing the job a $3,000 tax credit. [School Board] I love John Dick on the School Board, but Steve Primbramsky is the best elected official we have in the Keys.  He lead the School Board for the only tax cut we are going to get from any taxing authority.  I hope the School Board is smart enough to make him the chairman again.  He never lets Randy Acevedo get too out of line and he's made a lot of those over paid administrators sit in their seats while the School Board does their business.  Having an accountant, and a smart one at that, on the School Board watching our money is exactly what we need in these crazy economic times.

To quote Michelle Obama: "The truth is, to get things like Universal Health Care, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of the pie so that someone else can have more." My friends who are teachers are telling me that the recent push to hire the Marathon welfare queen, Tina Belotti, as the new summer school and program director is being led by Sunny Booker under the direct orders of Randy Acevedo. In fact if you go to the school board agenda page you will see a contract proposal drawn up by Sunny Booker herself to hire Tina Belotti. A letter by Duncan Mathewson was also published in the papers to clear up a so-called misconception of this proposal. Mathewson claims in this letter that hiring Belotti for $45k a year is well worth it. He also claims that the new dance program will magically give kids the ability to read and write and to close the achievement gap. Pretty strong endorsement by Mathewson who is a school board member and co-founder of ECMC. He was also Tina's instructor and mentor at the Union Institute where Belotti got her college diplomas.

Apparently she is now on board and has been hired at the school level to be in charge of the summer programs and summer school. I'm sure journeymen teachers with accredited degrees and real teaching expertise are excited about the chance to work with Tina. Now everyone is saying that this is occurring because Tina Belotti has thrown her personal support behind the reelection campaign of Acevedo.  Wow, a vote for Randy is a vote for Tina! Obama’s is right (actually he’s very far left, so I should say “correct”), there should be redistribution of wealth.  My wife and I have decided to get an early start and even increase the efficiency of redistribution of wealth by cutting out the government middle man.  We’re lazy retired old farts living on a pension, watching our bucks, so we save on other things and eat out several times a week.  It’s nothing fancy, just around BPK and Marathon. We tip our servers pretty good, between 20-30% depending on the quality of service.

The other day we noticed a bunch of homeless folks in Key West, it looked like they have no income, so we decided that in the spirit of fairness they deserve to have income.  We’ve decided that we’ll no longer tip 20 to 30%, but will max out our tips at 8%, and give the difference directly to the homeless.  Maybe we’ll even fudge a little and only tip 5%. You’ve just got to love Obama.

I have had suspicions about the true validity of items on snopes.com. It just seemed that things were becoming very one-sided about many of their reports. It appears that I'm not alone in my thoughts. I know it's hard to believe almost anything on the web said by or about either party with the spin and mud slinging going on from both sides, but here's another site claiming to be breaking the truth and dispelling the lies. I guess we have to decide for ourselves who or what to really believe, and that's not an easy task. When you vote, do it from your heart and mind, not to maintain any party's unity and strength. [Anti Obama] If you believe that Obama’s tax plan is going to work without raising everyone's tax,  I have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale.  The 2% wealthiest are the ones that make jobs. On Friday State Attorney Mark Kohl was on the Bill Becker show. He was criticizing his opponent’s resume. Kohl came out that Mr. Ward has never prosecuted a felony case and would lack the ability to lead rookie assistant states’ attorneys in prosecuting such. Kohl then dug out a real turd example out of the bottom of the pickle barrel. The example was of a rape of a four year old child. Kohl then attempted to spin this into outer space. He questioned how Mr Ward would prosecute something he had no experience with. Duh! Dennis Ward was a cop for 20 years in the big city of Miami. He had to get down and dirty in cases that would make Kohl shiver. Dennis Ward obviously had to go to a fresh scene and work up a case and present it to the states’ attorneys office for prosecution. He then had to work along side assistants states attorneys to get it through trial. Dennis Ward will prosecute. He will not allow anyone to plead out. Especially when they are an obvious danger to the community.

Andrew Beckner? Nice explanation of how he was let out because you could not even win a misdemeanor case to keep him in jail. If he would have prosecuted  Beckner for felony spouse abuse he could have been in for five years.  Mr. Kohl just to let you know Dennis Ward is a Florida Bar attorney. [Chefs Wanted] Presents In Paradise is calling on local chefs from Key West to Marathon to join us in raising money for our non profit organization. This year we decided to hold a "Conch Cook off". You will get a box of ingredients and you will have to prepare an entree. You will be judged from judges as well as the customers who buy tickets to sample the dishes. You have to be a chef who is currently working in a restaurant--you will be representing your establishment. The winner of course will get bragging rights for a year. We are still in the beginning stages.

This is for the local children in abuse shelters and the court system. Those that miss out on the toys for tots. We buy them exactly what is on their list. We feel it is more personal that way and its more magical for them.

[1936 Stainless Steel Ford] We need these in the Keys! This is the car built for and owned by Allegheny Ludlum Steel. It was attending our open house and then was featured in a local parade with over 100 of our salaried, hourly and retired employees walking alongside. This is 1 of only 4 in existence and is the only one currently in running & in roadworthy condition. The car is in exceptional condition, with the interior and even the frame looking great. All 4 cars each had over 200,000 miles on them before they removed them from service. These cars were built for Allegheny as promotional and marketing projects.T he top salesmen each year were given the honor of being able to drive them for one year. The v-8 engine (max 85 hp) ran like a sewing machine and was surprisingly smooth and quite. I thought this was a much better looking automobile than the Ford Thunderbird that visited us last year. FYI, the car was insured (we were told) for the trip to Louisville via covered trailer for 1.5 million dollars. We were also told that the dies were ruined by stamping the stainless car parts, making these the last of these cars ever produced.

[Candidate Forums] I attended all but one candidate forum, maybe a dozen forums in all. The forum I did not attend was at the Ocean Reef Club, because I was the only county commission candidate who wasn’t invited. Sandy Downs wasn’t invited to that forum either. Maybe because she and I had copycatted each other by saying the sheriff substation at Ocean Reef needs to go. As I recall, Ocean Reef is one of the many endorsements Heather Carruthers rattled off in the later forums, to persuade the audience to vote for her. As I recall, Heather had more endorsements than all of the other candidates combined. As I recall, she was the only candidate endorsed by the Gang of Three.

At the last candidate forum, in the Harvey Government Center last week, the county commission candidates were asked: How did we feel about the county appealing the verdict in the Celeste Bruno case? All the candidates gave straight-forward answers, except Heather, who clearly was flustered and said she wished it would go away and she had not seen the valentine card Celeste Bruno had given to Sonny McCoy and could not comment on that. When I spoke, I said the Valentine card had been published in Key West Citizen, and it looked to me like Celeste’s backhand way of telling Sonny to lay off. I then provided a legal perspective of the case, which, I, having practiced law, could do. Not a perspective favorable to the county’s appeal, nor to Sonny. I told the audience what we really need in the county is the right to recall elected officials, and I asked if they really believed the State Ethics Commission would have taken Sonny down, if an ethics complaint had been filed against him? I found myself wondering: If Heather can’t deal with something tough like Celeste Bruno’s case straight up, how in the hell is she going to be the kind of county commissioner this county needs?    More... [No-see-um screen] Regular screening is called 20x40 and a tighter mesh is 20x20. No see um screen is 600 mesh (I don’t know where these numbers come from or what they mean). I’ve tried the no-see-um screen and it worked, but it virtually stopped any air too. It was awful. I now use 20x20 mesh and it works a lot better the the 20x40, but they still get in, but not as many. You still need to have a fan on you to keep them off at night (I hate those little bastards.)

One thing that's stuck in my mind are the players involved in the assassination cover up (oops), I mean people whose names mentioned in the book that have gone on to "bigger and better":  Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Frank Sturgis, Howard Hunt, Orlando Bosch. High Treason mentions a host of past and current members of "the establishment" whose fingerprints appear around the throat of the "old" Democratic Party.

It was a battle between two American Dynasties--Liquor (Joe Kennedy) and Oil (The Bush Family) and oil won. Those that maintained the status quo have been repaid over the decades with political positions and payoffs, those that did not have turned up dead. Ain't it funny how our former Governor Jeb Bush had election problems that overturned the election results that got his retarded brother elected--and "Daddy" is a former Director of the CIA? 

Our system is nothing more than a proven sham.  Elections are a war between people who are so angry at each other that they will do anything to get and maintain the power. Notice how "they" came together to "save the system" when it looked like the money trail might dry up. "They" bailed out their buddies and we will continue to pay for it. 

We will never solve our nations issues until we think like a nation of Americans, instead of a divided group of Dems, Repubs, Lefts and Rights. As long as "they" keep us a nation divided, "they" will continue to rule.

Joe Biden fielded some pointed questions recently in a five-minute satellite interview with Barbara West of WFTV, a Florida TV station. West asked whether Barack Obama’s connection to ACORN was a concern, whether his “spread the wealth” quote was Marxist and whether Biden’s comments about a “generated crisis” suggested America had lost its standing in the world.
 
The Obama-Biden campaign later told the station it was cutting off access because of the questioning. Did the campaign overreact? Were the interviewer’s questions fair? I hope if Obama gets in, when hard questions are asked of him, he does not shut down to all the free press/TV stations in this county.

Every time Sandy Downs opens her mouth, or key board in this case, I loose far more respect for her as a Law Enforcement Officer and a person.  She was my top choice to vote for when the candidates for Sheriff first came about.  Now I'd sooner elect a 5 year old.  It may or may not be true that Becky Heron made statements that are a bit out of line, but the way Sandy carries on about it reminds me of when George Nugent would write in to behave like a child.  Sandy needs to grow up and smarten up.  I would hate to see a county crisis if she were Sheriff.  She'd give an interview to The National Enquirer.  I thank the good God that she doesn't have a prayer of winning. ~thekeysguy@gmail.com

[Lori] Please say it isn't so! I just ran into Lori who was running the office at Big Pine Key Chiropractic (Dr. Michael Norman) and she informed me that he laid her off last Thursday.  It is such a shame for him to lose an awesome employee like Lori.  I am speaking from experience when I say that since she has been there the office has been a much better place to go for treatment.  She was always a delight to work with and always had a big smile on her face.  I am not sure if I will continue treatment there because he does not know how to treat his patients, but with Lori there it was okay because you had someone to talk to about it.

[Trauma Star Black Hole] I asked my friend why he thought emotion provoking ads were being put in the Citizen pleading with the voters to vote for Trauma Star and paid for by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.  Their ad showed a body on a stretcher in front of the helicopter, and pleaded with the voters to vote for this service.

Next day another ad premiered in the Citizen paid for by "Friends of Trauma Star", and I am sure another will be in today paid for by someone who will benefit.  All of the ads are aimed at our hearts, jerking our emotions, and fearing this loved one of ours will not have this service if we don't empty out our pockets for it.  They promise us how much it will cost us now, but don't divulge there is no sunset provision or raise restriction, or anything else!

As all good scientists know, stars burn out and fall, and fellow citizens, this Trauma Star has fallen. My friend said, "I've never seen it, don't know anyone who's used it, but "they" say, "We've gotta have it!" I ask a very simple question, "Why?"

Why, when we have Life Net and other options do we need this? Why when Palm Beach Hospital is begging to transport us from Key West up?  Why, when there are air ambulance services already in place servicing hospitals, and that is their primary business, do we need to venture into the air ambulance business as County taxpayers?

[Randy Acevedo] In a flashback to another time, Monroe County school officials on Friday were faxing information they would normally e-mail, and documents usually available online had to be requested by phone. The "major Internet threats" that prompted the district to go offline at 9:45 a.m. Friday did not affect its internal computer network, which links schools and district offices throughout the Keys, but access to the system through the Internet was cut off.

[Ken Davis] The statement of one person on who to vote for reflects the person’s lack of knowledge of the issues. To choose Peryam over Davis states their lack of need for ethics and integrity in our local law enforcement. The Sheriff's position is one of great trust, it is not an award for longevity.

I have known Bob for a long time and consider him a friend. But his refusal to address the allegations against him are alarming and add credence to his accusers. When asked about the investigations during a recently televised political forum, he was caught lying, stating he had never been under investigation before running for office. He was quickly embarrassed by an investigation dated Sept 2005 in which he was accused of dating and having sex with a young girl while on duty and then harassing her family.

One must also ask, how does a professional law enforcement officer let himself get into a position where those sort of allegations can be made----repeatedly? 

Bob is also out of touch with today's law enforcement ethics and conduct. Not even in office, he already owes over 16 thousand dollars to Deputies he solicited money from for his campaign. He owes thousands of dollars more to companies contracting with Sheriff's Office. (How will he pay them back?)  In addition, he thinks his wife being head of Internal Affairs is not a professional conflict!

We are growing as a County and the persons we elect to office need to reflect our maturity and seriousness as a place for people to come visit, start businesses and buy homes. Not southern small town good ole boy corruption.  As citizens we need to put our friendships and personal likes or favors aside and vote for the best person.  We need someone with integrity and ethics. My running for the District 3 seat on the County Commission this year is a reckoning from 2004. In January of that year, I was told to run against Sonny McCoy, as a write-in candidate. I entered the race in that fashion. Then I was given a new way of writing to use in the campaign, a way of writing alien to me. An indirect method, the female approach, as opposed to the male mince-no-words approach.

I kept blowing writing assignments, and the retribution inside of me was terrible and terrifying. I finally became terrified of myself: a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. I came to believe I was the most dangerous thing to me. I came to believe I had dreamed up that I was suppose to run against Sony McCoy. When I did not hear otherwise from the angels, I withdrew from the race.

Then came a terrifying dark night of the soul. I lost all sense of traction. I felt every step I took was in slippery mud, and I was sliding backward. This went on for months, until I was told in a dream: “You were the keynote speaker at a homeless conference and you didn’t even show up!” The homeless conference was the District 3 race, and keynote referred to the wonderful Keynoter article Alyson Matley (now Alyson Crean) had written about my entry into the race as a write-in candidate. Shortly afterward, Todd German asked me if he could be my campaign manager. Shortly after that, a Key West man offered to help with the filing fee, so I would not have to run as a write-in candidate. [American Dream] What in the hell has happened to America? What has happened to the American dream? That was the dream where everybody has a decent shot at real prosperity, not a guarantee, but a decent shot. That dream is endangered by Democrat incited class warfare.  The Democrats have spun the American Achiever into a villain to be punished.  According to Obama the great American Achiever must be punished by taking larger and larger portions of his/her earnings so that those earnings can be “redistributed” according to a formula devised by Obama.  The formula is not based on the recipient’s skills, quality of labor, production, achievements or even real need.  The formula relies only your taxable earnings. The idea is if you are making less than $xxx.xx, you deserve to have more and Obama will take someone else’s money and give it to you. Nothing good can come from this.  This scheme defies every sane economic theory.  The scheme is simply designed to curry envy and to buy votes. It’s shameful, degrading and worse it’s dangerous.

Barney said : “After the November election, Democrats will push for a second economic stimulus package that includes money for the states' stalled infrastructure projects, along with help paying for healthcare expenses, food stamps and extended unemployment benefits.”  Barney also wants to slash the military by 25%. Detroit is looking for a $25 billion bailout to build more energy-efficient cars. That reminds me, where has the Dept of Energy been spending its $25 billion budget to fulfill its charter to wean us from foreign oil? Have they spent it on ads telling us to just drill more? We don’t have any permanent funding or tax-credits for research or for science. Doesn’t anyone in government look to the future and new ideas? It seems we only prop up old industries and ideas and forget about tomorrow. We need to invest in our colleges and universities for smart new ideas instead of propping up failures.

[Bailout] Yesterday two posters belched fire against the politicos who shoveled out the money for the fiscal bail out.  I almost agrees with them, that policy was simply wrong and it is a giant step toward the socializing of our economy. We will suffer from it.  The posters blamed the Republicans. The bailout was overwhelmingly voted in by Dems and Republicans. Republicans, including McCain support minimal government, self reliance, personal responsibility,  and pride in America. I’ll vote for McCain and Republicans because I believe that they are the best chance to staunch our bleeding and to return to the sanity that made our nation great.

My election choices: US Representative – Annette Taddeo.  Ros-Lehtinen is too closely tied to Bush.  And all her concerns appear to be focused on Cuba.

Circuit 16 Judge – Tegan Slaton.  This one is easy.  Tegan’s supposed conflict is with the Public Defender’s Office.  But as a Family Court Judge (which more and more is apparently what this seat will be) the Public Defender’s Office will not be appearing before him.  Vanden Brook’s ties with the Guardian ad Litem is obvious.  Just look at how hard the GAL is working to get her elected.  Besides, Slaton has been a practicing attorney and a court magistrate.  Vanden Brook has been Court Administrator, not practicing as an attorney.  Knowing how to be in charge of court staff is not the same as practicing in a courtroom.

There have been many postings here that warn that the rush to Socialism will have free speech as an early casualty.  Joe the Plumber has become a liberal and media punching bag for having the stones to personally question Obama’s wisdom, to simply speak his mind in his own front yard.

It has just been revealed that in inquiries have been made in the official government computerized records of Ohio for any info about Joe. Ohio of course if one of many of Obama's ACORN vote fraud sites.  These records are supposed to be restricted to official government and law enforcement queries. The databases are a wealth of info concerning every facet of every Americans life. Unauthorized use of the data bases can be a felony, and Ohio is beginning a criminal investigation.  Now, who do you suppose made the unauthorized queries?  Could it be McCain’s minions digging up good things to say about Joe, or maybe it was the good folks at Disney trying to find where to send free tickets or was it the media?  The level of hate and acrimony levied against those who speak out against Obama is record shattering, it is shameful, worse, it make me wonder if it is cautionary.

[New Park] I just came back from visiting the new BPK Park. They have a large community center.  How is it being used? I do think the center should be used as a meeting place for the seniors instead of transporting them by bus every day to the Marathon senior center.  We have 3 churches here on BPK that have great kitchen facility's. Obama’s response is to punish achievers by raising taxes and redistributing wealth.  To paraphrase Chairman Mao, “Socialism is not love. Socialism is a hammer which we use to crush the enemy.” It appears that Obama’s enemy is the American achiever.

Sandy told me she ran into you after you made your post and you told her that you regretted putting it up. Obama says he plans on giving money to folks who don’t pay taxes.  These handouts would be forever, not just one time stimulus deals. I’m sure no rich dude, but why in the hell should any money be paid to people who take all the government benefits, but contribute nothing to it? [Horan Endorses Sandy Downs] This morning’s front page of Key West Citizen announces Bob Horan’s withdrawal from the sheriff race and his endorsement of Sandy Downs for your next sheriff. What’s amazing about this announcement is that it is even in the Citizen, because when its Editorial Board (Tom Tuell) wrote its view of the sheriff race and narrow endorsement of Ken Davis, Bob Horan and Sandy Downs were not even mentioned. But then, Tom Tuell once told Sandy that the Citizen (Tom Tuell) prints what it thinks is best for Keys people.

Bob Horan is a hoot, and I wish he had attended all of the candidate forums. Most of his platform was about ridding law enforcement of the hugely important and frighteningly dangerous of job of tracking down, arresting and jailing recreational (mostly marijuana) drug users. [Handouts] Someone posted a blurb that said "The only ones voting for Obama's will be the ones looking for a handout". Lets review the republican handouts the last 7 years. Billions and billions and billions of Americans’ hard earned money is still going to the country of Iraq while half of their people would love to kill every American they could. Hell, lets be honest, that's the largest free handout in the world’s history. Then let’s look stateside. The people that destroyed the American economy are being rewarded with billions more. Again another handout. In fact the Republican President now wants to purchase portions of American banks. That is the largest step towards socialism that's crossed America’s path. Now John McCain wants to add a  new tax to every American’s healthcare bill!

I tend to believe that Healthcare is already a bit high. What planet are these republicans living on? They are giving foreigners more money then any time in American history. McCain would just be a continuation of Bush policies and lets face it folks, we were indeed better off 9 years ago before Bush took over. Now there’s a fact that Republicans will spin like a top, but what the hell, a typical poster in here has been saying that there’s no recession and John McCain thinks our financial markets are doing great. I wonder how much of Caribou Barbie's clothing purchases went towards rose colored glasses. The republicans are handing out the largest amounts of free money in history and it has to be stopped. Be sure to vote democrat we cannot afford McCain’s healthcare taxes and bennies for executives.

[Acevedo] Sticks and stones may break my bones but they still turn me on. Remember that supposed mean bastard Randy ran against last election, John Padget? The guy was suppose to be so difficult to get along with there was a rumor his inner-child was removed by the Dept. of Children and Families for safe keeping. Well, folks voted for Key West and not the more qualified candidate. One of the big issues back then was budget. Randy has shown that he is down to Earth, nice, easy to work with, but was probably a better offensive lineman than superintendent. Maybe being nice is important, but perhaps, so is doing a good job. Dr. Fred Colvard, I don't think you stand a chance because I consider things like budget an issue and I'm in the voting minority. Integrity? Randy hired his wife at 100 grand a year. Do we really want a superintendent who can't manage his own finances to the point that his home is in foreclosure? Sure, the school board took away his spending power but they shouldn't be forced to do that. It's easy to blame the politicians for the sorry state the world is in, but don't forget the people who elected them.

[McCoy] The poster who said if anyone else noticed that the only people who defend Sonny McCoy are his children and in-laws, you forgot to mention Ed Swift's name as a McCoy supporter and defender. He wrote a letter to the editor of the Key West Citizen praising all that McCoy has done for Monroe County. The last thing he did for Monroe County was cost the taxpayers a $100,000, the cost of the deductable for insurance to pay for his follies.  Someone needs to talk to Monroe County staff attorneys and tell them do not appeal this case. Pay up and be done with it. Our budget is in the tank already. Wake up and stop throwing good money away. Stop trying to justify your government job, by appealing this case.  Stop.  Enough is enough!

The new horror of email is that the next generation of users never got the old jokes and images so they think it's all new and forward them again and again and again! they should make it a law to delete all old humor permanently since most emailers don't have the brains to remember what they sent three days ago.

Sarah Palin's advisors decide that it is time for her to meet a bunch of serious world leaders. They head to Europe, where, first up, she has an appointment with the Pope. Fannie and Freddie are the quasi socialist giants of the mortgage industry.  It is the mind boggling greed and ineptitude of their management,  and especially the failure of our elected representatives that have come home to roost. They are socialist entities that wield the power of government fueled by the greed their management.  That power was given to them by Democrat policies, and those corrupt managers are now part and parcel of Obama’s inner circle. Republicans warned the Democrat cops who were supposed to be watching Fannie and Freddie. But those cops got fat and looked the other way while eating donuts given them by Fannie and Freddie while Fannie and Freddie managers out looted the Soprano family.

I’m very hesitant to put a Democrat in the White House right now, especially one whose voting record is to the left of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed who are leaders of a Congress with a single digit popularity rating.

Campaign finance reform.  Yesterday  a poster complained that we needed campaign finance reform. I guess that the poster has never heard of the McCain-Feingold Bipartisan reform act of 2002.  I guess that the poster doesn’t know John McCain was a principal author and power behind it’s passage.  I guess the poster doesn’t know that thousands of Obama supporters have ignored many provisions of this act during this cycle. I guess the poster doesn’t realize that McCain is a battle proven reformer.

[O'Reilly] In recent weeks, according to the Nielsen ratings company, Keith Olbermann has been beating Bill  O'Reilly of the Fox Noise Network.  O'Reilly claimed  that Barak Obama, The New York Times and the Nielsen people have fixed the ratings in favor of MSNBC.  What is he smoking and where can I get some? And people actually watch this clown?

[McCoy Petition] There are a couple of errors in the [McCoy] Petition, and some funny formatting that is probably okay, but the following should definitely be corrected: [2] “No public facility; building; road or thoroughfare, wherever located in Monroe County, shall not be named” Remove the not.

We also wonder why there is a Petition #.  What would one fill in there?  Should there be a date after the signature?  Is Precinct number really required?

How the Republican Party has bamboozled the working class in this country with voodoo economics and all without a peep from the Democrats is the eternal shame of the Democratic Party.

The ballot is very full this year with many choices to make.  Please take your time and familiarize yourself with the candidates and the issues prior to voting, especially if you plan to vote on the actual Election Day, Nov. 4th.  It will take you a few minutes to cast all your votes.

Sandra Downs has once again made Sloan look like an idiot and betrayed him like most others she's involved with.  Sloan very clearly made statements here to the effect that Sandra Downs was ready to move on from her personal vendettas.  When I read this a couple of weeks ago or so, I thought it was wonderful.  Well, Thursday I received a motion to the probate court where she is trying to profit off of the burial expenses of my son; which claim includes among other things medical expenses (I and the insurance paid 100%) and inflated funeral home expenses (I have a copy of the receipt).  I said to myself it doesn't look like anything is changing but we have a mediation tomorrow in family court (Friday) and let's see.  Lo and behold, she didn't even bother to show up.  Fair warning, Daffy Duck would be a better choice for Sheriff than Sandra Downs. ~ hartmanbob@aol.com

I, the undersigned Petitioner, am a Registered Voter in, and resident of, Monroe
County, Florida and herewith endorse and support the Resolution hereinafter
cited, to be placed before the Monroe County Board of Commissioners at the
earliest possible date It is my wish that the name of the Key West International
Airport remain unchanged; that no sections or parts of the airport be named after
anyone; and, further, that no Monroe County public building; facility; road or
thoroughfare of any kind wherever located within Monroe County, be named after
any living person for at least 10 years after the decease of any such person. The
Resolution shall contain the following language and may be edited to conform to
legal requirements as to form and content , to wit:
“WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners wish to respect the
wishes and intentions of Monroe County residents and registered voters. do herewith
Resolve that:
[1] The name of the Key West International Airport shall remain unchanged; and
[2] No public facility; building; road or thoroughfare ,wherever located in Monroe
County, shall not be named after, or dedicated to, any living person; and
[3] No such public facility as set forth in Section 2 above shall be named after any
person until ten [10] years after the decease of such person, and
[4] The Monroe County Board of Commissioners shall file and approve an appropriate
Ordinance to give this Resolution the force of law.

[Hedge funds] The large, private pools of investment capital - and private equity firms, are giving campaign funds to Democrats at a faster pace than Republicans in this year's presidential race.  Hedge fund and private equity political donations totaled $6.4 million by the end of 2007 for presidential candidates. The distribution was 60 percent for Democrats and 40 percent for Republicans. Obama took over  $1,040,185.00.  McCain 395K.

[Candidates] If anyone has attended candidates forums lately, you can pick out one candidate who is running for a Commissioner’s seat and this candidate is pilfering lines, ideas, opinions, suggestions, plans, and words some of them almost verbatim from two or three of the other candidates.  This candidate is shoplifting from other candidates and it appears claiming and spouting these ideas as their own.  This candidate when seated at a forum watches in what order they are seated and uses these thoughts and ideas of other candidates accordingly.  These ideas, opinions, suggestions, or plans have been presented by the original candidates at prior forums, but this candidate who is pocketing these lines from other candidates then presents them at forums several days later as being their own.

Marketing is the art of selling people goods and services, and this candidate comes across just that way, selling you the voter; items that belong to someone else.  A good candidate should have substance, core values, soul, real meaning or ideas of their own, not someone else?s.  A good candidate should have thoughts which are not imported from other candidates.  A good candidate should not be selling someone else’s thoughts, plans, ideas or suggestions.  A good candidate should be capable of independent thoughts, judgments, opinions, beliefs and dreams of their own.

[Marathon Mafia] I chanced into a fellow in Key West, who was born and raised in Marathon. He pulled a copy of this week’s issue of Conch Color and showed me the inside spread about retiring Sheriff Rick Roth’s commemoration party. He pointed out members of what he called the Marathon Mafia, which he said was formed to try to wrest control of the Keys away from Key West. David Rice, Brian Schmidt, Tom Tuell, Rick Roth and George Neugent were mentioned. The Marathon native said the Marathon Mafia was behind the creation of two county commission districts in Marathon, and Marine Bank was started to compete with First State Bank, which the Spottswoods in Key West owned.

When I mentioned the Marine Bank startup to a fellow at the meet-and-greet, he said there was a lot of drug money floating around back in those days. The Marathon native earlier yesterday did not seem surprised when I said Sandy Downs told me she is pretty well convinced the Marathon Mafia is in the drug business. When I included County Commissioner Mario DiGennaro in the Marathon Mafia, the Marathon native said Mario is not a member; they don’t like or want him around. Sandy says she is pretty well convinced Mario is tied into gambling interests in New Jersey and Europe, and they sent him down here to pave the way for them to bring casinos into the Keys.

FEMA is a government agency designed to aid in disaster relief for the uninsured. My point is that if we all had insurance, homeowners, renters, businesses etc., whether you’re in an apartment, house, condo or downstairs enclosure you would be covered; because you have coverage. FEMA would be able to help on a government level for disaster cleanup not on a personal level. That’s where all the confusion comes from. It's called being a responsible adult, people  should try it.

In 2005 Monroe County schools had $12.38 million in reserves, county property values were on the rise, sales tax revenue was climbing, and unemployment in the Florida Keys was about 2.2 percent. The school system's debt to outside lenders was about $378 per student. This year, the school district has about $7.4 million in reserves, about $5 million less; has borrowed $20.5 million against 2007 sales tax proceeds, and unemployment in the Keys is around 4.8 percent. The school system owes about $2,000 per student to banks and other lenders.

So why is Randy Acevedo pushing to borrow more money to build more palatial schools. current debt is plus or minus 112 million plus this 59 million. $171,000,000 debt!

Some board members are urging caution before borrowing $59 million more to build new Horace O'Bryant and Plantation Key schools. Schools Superintendent Randy Acevedo doesn't want to slow the construction process. "You don't look at a swimming pool and decide it's too cold to swim," he said. "You have to put your foot in the water to see what the water temperature is." Huh? This guy has water on the brain.

Board member Debra Walker urged caution at the Oct. 14 School Board meeting, but wants to continue planning for construction of the schools. "I don't think we should take it out of our five-year plan," Walker said. "[But] we need to get better advice than these five School Board members." Ms Walker maybe you need to listen to at least two board members (Dick and Primbransky CPA) before you spend another $100,000 on a consultant to explain to you why they are right to urge caution. This is high school economics. High debt, high frivolous spending, exhausted reserves, versus a low inflow of capital/taxes equals to an economic disaster just like the one the world is facing now.  Recession. What a bimbo. "eeeeets for the children!'

[Sal Speaks] I must agree with the poster about me not answering the question asked me at a forum in Key Largo.  It was about non-profit organizations.  I think the non-profits might have to take a back door considering the recent economic climate.  Most money that non-profits receive go to the big weenie that runs them. Example:  Keith Douglass that just got canned from his cushy job at the Crane Foundation.  As far a speaking at forums I must agree I don't do well. [Carlos Rojas] I have to disagree with the poster saying the worst thing we can do is to Vote for Carlos Rojas.  People of Monroe County, we are facing sewering Unincorporated Monroe County by 2010...which will not be met, but hopefully the State will grant us more time, plus send down some money to support the mandate.

Carlos Rojas has built wastewater systems, what does Heather Carruthers know about wastewater?  Carlos has re-developed historical sites, built affordable housing.  I have heard him say he favors re-development over new development. He is an honest, transparent, and caring licensed architect.    That makes him more qualified to deal with the developers who want to build the Hotel with 865 hotel rooms, 300 affordable housing, and 49 market rate homes at Safe Harbor.  The Conch Train owner that has been building non affordable housing has several other developments coming before the BOCC; Rojas would again be more qualified.  This developer will not be able to pull the wool over Rojas's eyes as easily because he knows the Land Development Regulations, he understands Development Agreements, and he understands Building codes, etc. so you are not going to pull a fast one on him, just due to his education in this area.  We have a lot of developments still on the books, waiting to come before the BOCC, so I want the most qualified Commissioner concerning development in the Florida Keys that we can have, and that Commissioner is Carlos Rojas.

I appreciate all that FIRM along with Heather has done with our insurance rates, but her resume does not fit this job. 

[Obama is Hope]  I pity you.  The only people who will benefit if he is elected are those who want everything given to them by a liberal government after they take it from the good working folks, and then rip their share off the top.  My hope is that people will wise up to what “distribution of wealth” really means before it is too late.

[Sandy Downs] You say things on your posts without checking the facts. About 20 people collected the 472 signatures for Ken Davis by plain hard work. Ken came into the race late and we had to work fast or pay $7000 to get onto the ballot. We made our first priority getting the qualifying signatures and everyone spent five 12 hour days contacting everyone they knew and every acquaintance to get the job done. We spent time at rallies, supermarkets, outside post offices and got the signatures in less than a week. We were happy to get it done fast so we could move on to other parts of the election. If you contact me I will provide to you the names of the people who did the work. You can then tell them the the signatures came any other way than hard work. You may not like their reply.

Cape Air as a code share carrier for Continental Airlines will soon begin scheduled air service consisting of three round-trip flights daily between Florida Keys Marathon Airport (MTH) and Southwest Florida International Airport, Fort Myers, FL (RSW) starting on December 19, 2008.

If Keys residents have friends, relatives, or business contacts on Florida’s West Coast, Cape Air from Marathon is by far the most inexpensive air service in Monroe County.  Cape Air fares with no connection to another Continental flight are expected to run about $90 to $100 each way.  And remember, parking at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport is always free.

[Ken Davis] As the race for Sheriff is concerned, I think Ken Davis had a decent chance at getting elected until he allowed himself to become involved in a tit-for-tat with Sandra Downs.  I think the majority of educated voters in Monroe County know by now that Sandra Downs is in no way qualified to be a Sheriff.  It is more than obvious every time she comments that she has no understanding of the every day practice of law enforcement.  By stooping to her level, I think Ken Davis just paved the road for Sheriff Peryam.

[McCain] Hope is where it’s at!  I hope for a more prosperous America for everyone, by creating more wealth for everyone, not redistributing the fruits of other person’s achievements.  I hope for less expensive health care by driving down the costs of health care, not by socializing it and throwing more money at it. I hope to see a smaller and less expensive government trimmed of fat and shameful earmark spending. I hope to see those responsible for our current fiscal crisis identified and punished. I hope that the abundance of evidence as to the identity and culpability of those responsible will finally become of interest of the media. I hope to see the return of respect and learning in schools, not schools that are governed by work rules and top heavy with administrators, schools that are judged on the quality of the education absorbed by their graduates. I hope to see the return of candidates who will show respect for the electorate, not candidates who insult the electorate by pandering to buy votes. I hope to see the return of candidates who will refuse to engage in shameless class warfare.  I hope to see candidates who are actually qualified to run for office. I hope for an electorate that can differentiate between charisma and competence.  I hope for an America at peace, not threatened by fanatics. I hope for a leader with the experience, courage, wisdom, and love of country that will show a strong, moral, and resolute America to the rest of the world. I hope for a leader with the wisdom to understand that a strong and resolute America is the single most powerful guarantee of world peace.  I hope that we can elect such a leader so that America can continue to be the leader of the free world. People are complaining about the fantastic amount of money Obama is receiving for his campaign and how little money McCain has. Elections are popularity contests and who gets the most money is the most popular. People shouldn’t be complaining about Obama’s popularity they should be complaining about the much needed campaign finance reform.

Racism, gross and raw, is alive and well in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.  The progressive and artistic city of Asheville is the exception to this socially-tragic truth.   After years in Key West I returned home to NC.  Shock, shock, I continue to hear the utterances of the the ignoramuses and un-evolved that they will "never vote for that n****r, Obama".  After nearly a decade in the tolerant and "one human family" Florida Keys, I am sickened by these disgusting proclamations of these Skoal-chewing, NASCAR-worshipping in-breeds.  God help these unfortunate souls.  Earlier this week a 75 lb black bear cub was shot in the head and killed, then wrapped in Obama for President posters and bumper stickers and deposited at the doorstep of Western North Carolina University's administration office in Jackson County.  Sad, sickening, disgraceful and criminal.  Is it true that some things (and people) never change? 

Nevertheless, I predict that this historic "red state" will go Obama on November 4th.  'Tis long overdue for a fresh wind to blow through these mountains.  So be it.

What an insult to Colin Powell saying that he’s not intelligent enough to make an informed decision as to who should be president. There sure are some ignorant people here. I guess this still is the deep south.

A report came out from the State of Alaska which finds Sarah Palin turned in receipts for her daughters to travel with her and pay for their airplane tickets and hotel rooms over 20 times.As we can see shes really "JUST MORE OF THE SAME".Its not even just a slogan any more.

“EXPERIENCE COUNTS” CAMPAIGN I have been put back in the position of looking for a job twice in the last eight years due to companies going bankrupt. Previously I had never really had to go through the interview process as I was always offered jobs due to my reputation in my small community.

So to all those “over 45ers” or people who have been told they are “over qualified”, we need to confront these employers and ask them WHY ?

Health care in the United States. A man experienced a sudden onset of chest pain and shortness of breath.  He was transported by paramedics to a hospital and seen by emergency room staff and an emergency department physician who started him on medications and referred him to the in-house cardiologist.  In less than 24 hours he had an examination and tests by a cardiologist including an echocardiogram, an MRI, a cardiac stress test, an additional ECG, complete blood work and a referral to a heart surgeon.  A cardiac surgeon examined him and a cardiac catheter test was done to diagnose the exact problem.  Thankfully it was a relatively minor problem that did not require surgery. Appropriate medications were administered and prescribed and he was monitored over night before being released to home and his personal physician for follow-up care. Yes, he had insurance.

I see today that Obama is taking time off to visit his sick Grandmother.  I must say first that I feel sorry for him and wish her the best.  Now my question.  How is it that when McCain wanted to take a break and postpone a debate to deal with a national banking crisis Obama said "A leader can multi-task" but now he wants to take time off when it is a crisis at home?  Can't a good leader juggle a family and leadership too?  Is Obama's Grandmother more important than the financial status of our country?

I know of renters who lived in a downstairs enclosure when Wilma struck.  They collected over $6,000 for their 'stuff' (from FEMA I was told) and immediately threw into the street everything they owned - even plastic toys which could have been washed and disinfected! 

[Biden spouted off that something was going to happen that would test Obama and the support of his followers, and begged them not to falter.  He begged them to continue to support Obama. ]  I hope if he wins that he quicklyl grows into the job.  The Oval Office requires more decisive measures than just voting "Present".

Sportsmanship is not parents fighting:  I was there the morning that the coaches jumped over the 6 foot fence and beat the heck out of each other.  It is crazy living in Big Pine and being exposed to the anger and outrageous behavior of the coaches down there.  Last baseball season the Key West coaches behavior was deplorable.  There were too many coaches in the dugout, and the language was revolting.  Our team was accused of foul play when it was clearly the players inability to slide to stupidity to try and ram a catcher who did nothing but defend his base.  Out catch is the kindest and gentlest kid I know of he would never do anything out side the rules to hurt anyone.  I attribute this to his parents and his coaches.  We don’t play dirty.  I had to at one time remind a coach in the middle of his screaming fit that he was a great role model. (I have a very loud voice and use it when I want to be heard)  the coach came to his senses and apologized to our team after the game. (to little to late).  I respect most of the umpires at these games as the stood for fair play and had a few coaches ejected from the game.  Which, of course, the coaches laughed about after the game to their friends.  And the Keys West coaches language is deplorable.  The week after the incident with the coaches and parents I heard a coach tell his team who was watching our game that the other team was “going to wipe their asses with our players.”  I would pull my son from a team that has such a coach that used that type of language to direct my son.  Key West needs to grow up, the banning of the parents and coaches from the rest of this season, 5 weeks at most, is a joke.  Life time ban and removal of coaches who show any more deplorable behavior on the field or off would be a more fitting punishment.  I personally do not like the jock mentality.   These kids were under 12 years old, it’s a game! Let the kids have fun, stop living your power dream through our children.

Per student amounts are based on the total district student population. In some aspects the debt is per capita greater than the states average debt per capita. This is bad real bad. If the economy in the Keys continues to falter as it is in the rest of the nation we will be bankrupt! Randy Acevedo has a lot of budget issues!

FLASH!  Obama is actually a Bush supporter!  He has voted for Bush initiatives nearly as much as McCain. In 2007 Obama voted for Bush Policies at least 40% of the time. McCain, having been in heated primary contest against Bush, in 2001 voted for Bush initiatives only about 65% of the time. Obama told a TV reporter “"the only bills that I voted for, for the most part, since I've been in the Senate were introduced by Republicans with George Bush." I forced myself to watch the Palin campaign rally in Reno yesterday to see if the substance of her rhetoric has changed in recent weeks.  It has not.  She continues to say nothing, probably because she knows nothing about the national issues, and excites her followers with sophomoric antidotes as they cheer or boo to whatever flash cards the campaign workers hold up.  I've come to the conclusion that she is the best thing that ever happened to the opposition.  Palin continues to turn off more and more undecided voters every day and reinforces Colin Powell's assessment that she isn't ready to lead anything beyond her own borders.  She is a sad commentary on the direction of this country.  McCain needs a new campaign theme because "Country First" is stretching the truth.

I read with interest the response by Ken Davis to the mis-information and remarks made by Sandy Downs in her latest rant about the Sheriff’s Department and her opponents.  It is obvious that Ms. Downs is an angry woman with a personal agenda and an ax to grind.  She has continuously demonstrated by her statements that she lacks the experience, judgment and common sense required of the person who will be the top law enforcement officer in the county.

Ken Davis has those qualities and has my vote for the office of Monroe County Sheriff.

In the presidential race, none of the details people are arguing matter. There is just one outcome if John McCain is elected president. He and Palin will stack the Supreme Court with judges that will support a radical right agenda. McCain will die in office. There is so much talk around about Heather Currathers discriminating and it effecting her ability to fairly govern.  I will admit I fully agree.  I for one will not vote for her solely due to her business.  I respect her, she did wonders for FIRM, she is smart but I disrespect her business practices ans ethics.  I can't vote for that.  My question is, has anyone ever confronted Heather personally about this?  I have spoken to people representing her campaign about it but has anyone spoke directly with Heather?

They are coming- those pasty white snowbirds. They don't really like the Keys or the locals, but they just can't take cold weather anymore. Don't expect tips out of them, but do expect them to expound on how bad it is here and how great it is back home. 

Back a couple years ago people were suggesting on putting a word limit on each posting.  Whatever happened to that?  Some people are writing a novel here.  How about another limit on, maybe, 10 political postings a day?  It would make this site more enjoyable for all.

Sloan000I had hoped last night’s candidate forum in Marathon would bring forward a clear choice in the District 3 race. I had hoped Carlos Rojos would step up to the plate and give me a chance to bow out. Alas, after it was all said and done I was the only District 3 candidate I could pull the lever for at the polls. And I was the only District 3 candidate I saw or heard people in the audience come up to afterward and say “good job.” People like Jason Kohler, Editor of the Free Press in Marathon. People like Bill Estes, candidate for the District 1 county commission seat. People like Carlos Rojos, one of my opponents.

There was no doubt in me after the sheriff candidates spoke last night that we have a woman running against two boys who kept looking to their mamas (wives) in the audience for approval. Sandy told me afterward that she came to the forum not knowing what she would say and she didn’t remember anything she’d said and was afraid she had made a mess of it. I said she had done great, and asked why she worried about what she said when she went before the tribunal, when she knew the Holy Spirit would put the words in her mouth? She was devastating, as is her new campaign sign, which leaves nothing whatsoever to the imagination. Stay tuned.

The Trauma Star Engine: A recent column question asks what happens when the Trauma Star Helicopter goes down for repair. Answer:There is a county running order which provides for that need. We are backed up by agreements with Air Rescue South and Miami Children’s and when available, the private for profit service.

  1.    The closest based helicopter transport provider is not necessarily the fastest     option due to speed and location at time of call.

2.  All air transport providers do not charge the same fees to the patient. In fact some will pursue the patient for fees over and above what are paid by insurance.

3    There is no such thing as a free helicopter.

4.   Trauma Star, being a county provider, has exclusive access to some medical facility landing areas not available to non government providers. In the Keys this becomes very important if you are involved in a diving related accident.

5. As a Monroe County taxpayer, your tax contribution will be surprisingly minimal to keep the Trauma Star program functioning.
6. We would explain “running order” and who determines which provider is called for which mission. You should know that as a patient you do have rights to speedy transport and should not have to wait for a helicopter to dispatch from Miami when Marathon is within 18 minutes to any point in the Keys.
7. Should you need to utilize Trauma Star’s transport service, we will bill your insurance carrier. We will not seek money above the insurance payout.
8. Trauma Star will be a taxpayer funded air ambulance. Just like the ground ambulance, we are a not for profit operation. When you are operating for profit if the numbers don’t add up you pull the plug. This is not conjecture. It has happened several times in Florida and recently in Kentucky. Make no mistake, when you need us, we launch. We have only one concern and that is your life not our bottom line.
9. You will be surprised when you learn of the qualifications of our staff, RNs, Paramedic and EMS Pilots. It takes a lot to qualify as a Trauma Star professional. The FAA heavily scrutinizes the helicopter EMS industry due to the high accident rate. Clicking on NTSB.gov is a source of information on these accidents, the companies that suffer them and the determination of cause. It is my job to see that you the patient are provided with the highest level of safety.

  The Trauma Star pilots, RNs and Paramedics are looking forward to addressing these questions, as well as any other concerns. Last month, recreational divers near Channel Key reported a bomb-shaped object in the water to the Coast Guard. A Navy team from Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit Six from Naval Station Mayport, Fla., came down and investigated the area, but had to postpone the search due to approaching Hurricane Ike. The EOD team returned to the area Monday to resume the search and found the object Tuesday afternoon. Upon investigation, the object was identified as a WWII-era M117 series bomb.

The Navy is receiving support from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

DOWNSTAIRS ENCLOSURES SOLLUTION....if you PARK a car, boat,r.v., or in some cases in summerland your airplane under your house.. you insure it!!!. or you risk suffering a loss in case of a flood...if you RENT a downstairs enclosure, and you value your possesions... you insure them. period..and  if you OWN a downstairs enclosure, you rent it out in the hopes of lowering your monthly mortcage payment knowing the entire time if there is a flood you the owner is responsable for any and all damage incurred.. by using waterproof materialslike tile floors, concrete or fiberglass  walls and also changing out the cabinets ( and yes, they make waterproof cabinets) you eliminate 90% of the clean up.....                  the two biggest problems in the lower keys are affordable housing,. and downstairs enclosures ..DUHHHH... just because we live in moron county doesn't mean we all have to be MORONS......... oh yeah, i forgot. if enclosures were legal,  the property values would also go up... solving one more problem.. and even if you owned a house without an enclosure your property value would also increase..i could go on all day... NOW GO OUT AND DO SOMETHING SMART !!!  you won't belive how good it feels

Biden is most probably right when he said that we’ll suffer some sort of horrific crisis shortly after the election if Obama is elected President. Biden is absolutely right when he says that the crisis will be manufactured by our enemies just to test Obama. Biden knows that our enemies consider Obama to be “understanding”, if not sympathetic of their hatred towards America. Biden is touted as a great mind in foreign policy; he knows that our enemies are convinced that Obama will not be a resolute foe.  They are convinced that Obama is weak and that he can be co-opted.  The lesson to be learned from Biden is that if we wish to avoid deadly crisis, don’t elect Obama. Now Sonny is trying to get out of his shameful lawsuit by claiming Bruno gave him a Valentine card. I hate my boss but I still get him a Valentine card every year, so what? On the second night of the October watch the Texas Border Volunteers had watch posts on three different Ranches and on both sides of the Interstate.  That's a new record.  That night's operation 'popped'  34 criminal trespassers.  The following night was set much the same way and netted 23 sightings.  Those results came about because of the great turnout of veteran and new Texas Border Volunteers.  The size of the turnout gave us the ability to set wide nets.. and lots of options after an initial sighting.  Border Patrol loaded up 56.  That's $616,000 that the Texas Border Volunteers saved the taxpayers over the next year.

Those FCAT tests were given in the spring of 2001. Mr. William "Bill" Quinn was the principal then. the "C" grade carried over the fall semester 2001 into the spring semester 2002. Doctor Fred Colvard started at Marathon High School The fall of 2001. The the FCAT was taken again the spring of 2002 and the resulting grade was a "B". The grade kept going up to an "A", This is documented by the state as well. This is worse than spinning now its lying!

I would like to address the allegations and remarks made by my opponent Sandra Downs in her recent article. In her article Ms. Downs criticizes me for a wire tap investigation I supervised while the head of the DEA in the Florida Keys. She make several gross errors, and then states what she would have done if she were me.

Ms. Downs has no excuse for these gross errors, as she has seen me on numerous occasions and has had ample opportunity to ask me about the investigation and the prosecution. I hope that before she goes forth criticizing me again she will first take the time to reach out and attempt to learn the facts as they are, not as she wants the rest of the world to see them.

[Sportsmanship is not parents fighting] What the hell were they thinking? A number of parents and coaches were fighting during a recent Key West youth league football game. It was parents and coaches who ignited this fray, grown-ups who should know how to behave in public. Unfortunately, this recent example of reprehensible behavior is just the latest in what seems to be a trend in our community. Granted, sports can be competitive, and everyone in the real world doesn't always get along, but when things get heated up, the lesson should be conflict resolution -- not rushing in to kick some butt. The kids are probably thinking it’s all right to solve problems by fighting.

Most of the trouble is caused by a relatively small number of people. We are seeing rudeness, uncontrolled emotional outbursts and violence all too often at local ball games. If the rush of testosterone is too much for some to handle, they should consider resurrecting Bubba Boxing. The behavioral bar is significantly lower, and the spectators are usually of drinking age. These thugs should be sent to Challenge Day so they can hold hands and sing Kumbiyaa!

[Endorsement] As an architect and land planner, I moved to the Keys in 1984 as part of the State’s attempt to protect the unique environment and quality of life here. I authored the changes that brought Monroe County’s 1986 Comprehensive Plan into compliance and served as Vice-Chairman of the Monroe County Planning Commission. While living and working here in the private sector for 20 years, I’ve gained a personal and educated viewpoint. Unfortunately, what I see is the continuing degradation of our environment and quality of life fueled by the short-term greed of the moneyed few empowered by profiteering politicians.

Karl Marx would have hollered kudos to the poster who praised socialism yesterday. Who said this: “capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, and creates an unequal society”?  It was Marx but it perfectly matches Obama’s words and actions.  Marx said that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which was simply a transitional stage between capitalism and communism. Do you think that this irrational adulation of Obama is a “class struggle”?  If the poster was trying to make the point that we have already swung too far towards socialism, he’s dead on right.  If we want our national way of life to survive, we’ve got to back away from our growing dependence on a huge omnipotent government. 

Obama promises us tht he will grow government and its entitlement programs.  Socialism just doesn’t work, it’s a sure fire trip to perdition. Think about Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan, N. Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, etc. All socialist countries.  It’s not the economics that is the biggest threat. It’s stunning that the Obama movement is liberal led. The liberals can be proud of their record of crying loudest and longest for human rights, yet they seem blind to the fact that human rights are the first casualties of a socialist state.

The fact is that Mr. Higgs's Property Appraiser’s office has the most up-to-date data the law allows - utilizing the mass appraisal method (Florida Law) the office bases the appraisals on "last year's sales data." His opponent is a realtor, his wife is also a realtor/broker. The property appraiser is not in office to serve the needs of the real estate market.

What happens when the  Trauma Star engine fails or is down for repairs? There’s no backup like we have with Life Net or other helicopter medivac services. then where will we be? Vote no to the Trauma Star referendum. Also notice that there is not sunset date on this tax which coulld allow it to go on forever.

Just the other day Biden told us that McCain and Obama had been briefed by the Feds of a major threat of attack around the time of the elections. The terrorist can smell weakness of resolve and are quick to exploit it. If you think that we can co-exist with the terrorist whose religious beliefs require them to kill infidels, and who forecast a world ruled by Sharia law,  by all means vote for Obama.
