All
right, I can’t help it. I am so nosy, it’s killing me. What's the real story
behind ATF closing Key Deer Bar and Grill? Is it because they are
buying booze from retail outlets and not the wholesalers? Is it because they
allow smoking inside? Is it because they are running it like a night club,
serving booze without serving food? Is it because of the workers not getting
paid? There is so much stuff going around I would like to know the bottom
line even though its none of my business. I fall so short, I must work on
minding my own business, but now I just got to know what's up. |
|
Don't believe what you read in newspapers, except the News-Barometer.
What I said at the end of the Hometown! PAC forum during my allotted minute
and a half to close was that I would not ask for votes but would speak to
the issues. I then spoke to the Truman Waterfront elder retirement project,
which I said I flat oppose because it requires the city giving land to a
developer for ninety-nine years, and the housing will be available to
people all the way up to Marathon, all the way up to New Jersey even, and
will not be limited to Key West elder residents who already don't have
enough housing.
I then spoke to affordable housing and said Habitat For Humanity and Bahama
Land Trust are doing something with it and are not in it for profit, and are
not being curried by the City even though they are the leaders in the Keys
with affordable housing. Believe it or not, neither the Truman
Waterfront elder project or affordable housing were put to the candidates by
the panel. I then said if people are satisfied with how things are going,
then they don't want to vote for me, because I come from outside the box and
I don't like how things are going and it will be very different if I am
elected. That brought a lot of laughter. I ended my allotted time steering
the audience toward
www.goodmorningkeywest.com , if they really wanted to get to know me. I
said I swiped the name from Robin Williams and Good Morning Vietnam, and it
was about the same attitude. That brought a big chuckle. I repeated the name
of the website. Then I was out of time, and there was a big applause.
I had begun it all,
when I first got to speak, to say what I felt would help Key West, by saying
Key West is a carnival; that the Lou Harris survey earlier this
year discovered that the number one reason people gave for coming to Key
West is for the night life. I said we need to exaggerate that, play on it. I
said we should turn Key West into the pirate capitol of America. It would
draw people from all over the world. Like I said to begin with, don't trust
everything you read in the newspapers. I am running to win. Just not like
politicians go about it. I'm not a politician. I don't tell people to vote
for me. I speak to the issues and let people decide if what they hear makes
them want to vote for me. Everything I post in Today's Cock-a-doodle-doo is
part of the campaign. The forums and media interviews are part of the
campaign. I'm sticking out like an ET at a Southern Baptist convention. |

Thank you, ladies, for the advice on the hormones. Thanks also to my
husband who responded that I should put it over my mouth. You know what
that means, honey. |

So no health care for people
is supposed to be better then some health care for all? Gee, glad all the
jobs at NASA are taken.
Comparing America to Canada is
like comparing Iraq to Afghanistan. It doesn’t work unless you want to
"sway" statistics to suit your agenda. |

[Just hang out with gay girl] Wrong! If she already has a girlfriend
there’s no room for you. Three’s a crowd when love is in the equation. Butt

[Leona
Helmsley left 12 million dollars to her little doggie] And completely
left out two of her grandchildren, which is probably the kindest thing she
ever did. |
Yes,
the refuge is killing raccoons. Last count 34. It is a crime. Our
great protectors of wildlife are killing a species in its native habitat
because their feral cat scheme didn’t produce. They are not bothered by the
raccoons that may really be a threat. They go after the wild ones that live
in the woods. USFWS are an embarrassment to this community. What they are
doing is immoral and should be illegal. They are no better than the creeps
out west shooting wolves and prairie dogs or the poachers of alligators and
birds. Maybe the fools just can’t find the flipping rabbits. They are
nocturnal and there workday ends at 5:00 sharp. If they would read their
own literature they may find that the more they kill the more the raccoons
will reproduce to keep their family groups intact. A never ending circle of
disaster for all. |

This
is it folks, our final chance at showing our outrage to the premeditated
blinding and bludgeoning of the Blue Hole alligator. Our chance to
voice our opinion that killing birds with a bb-gun to lure the alligator to
its death is not just “boys being boys”.
The
defense attorneys are trying very hard to put the incident in a different
light. Goll's attorney has painted the duo of Timothy Goll and Jordan Milo
as "basically Florida Keys boys who go fishing and hunting. They thought it
was a fishing violation." (July 4th
Keynoter Article )
It is
important not to let them water down the severity of the premeditated acts.
Even though these men have only been charged and pled guilty to the charge
of alligator poaching, this is more importantly an animal cruelty case.
This is a very important issue that could set a precedent on cases like
this.
This
case has been drug out for 17 months in an attempt to wear down our
opposition. It is very important that we make a strong showing, at this
final sentencing, so the Judge sees that we are still here and we are still
calling for justice. The sentencing has now been set for Friday, September
7, 2007, at 8:45AM, at the Whitehead St. courthouse in Key West. It will be
in Courtroom B, on the 3rd floor, with sentencing by Judge Mark Jones. Wear
your green. Bring a friend. Let's fill the room! Please RSVP your
intentions to
naturelover@favorfloridakeys.com
If
you cannot make it, mail or fax another letter to the newly appointed Judge
Jones. Refer to Case #CFK06-0000506 A & B (Timothy Goll and Jordan Milo) on
any correspondence. His address is The Honorable Mark H. Jones 502

I
sure hope the responses about raccoons aren't true! If so, the only
wildlife left on BPK will be rabbits and deer. Everything else has been
defined as invasive exotic and targeted for destruction. We live on about 2
acres, keeping 1 acre as natural habitat. We have raccoons on that lot and
we have neuter/spayed, vaccinated cats on the lot our home is located on. We
have a couple of large iguanas who lay eggs every year, then we see a few
small iguanas, then all we see are the two large iguanas again. We have
extensive fenced (key deer) tropical gardens which have seen absolutely no
damage from the iguanas.
For
several years, everything seems to have balanced out. Imagine that! On top
of that, we have found only one dead bird on our property in the past. And
still, the "experts" at the Refuge, the Audubon Society, etc. insist that
the invasive exotics must be killed, except of course, the living creatures
they like. Swell people.
By
the way, that same individual in the F&W truck with the animal carriers in
the back about ran us over while running the stop sign at Second and Wilder
(didn't even slow down), sped off down Wilder, then careened on to their
property. It's reassuring to know we're in such safe, capable hands. |

[17 children] I find this ridiculous. The father should learn to keep

If that is the preppy guy from
Boondocks and hopefully, you were talking about me, I am not gay and
would like to meet you too. We talked about dogs once at the joint across
the street. I thought you were married and I don't mess with men who are
owned. |

When you stuff a turkey with a duck and stuff a duck with a chicken--you
call it Turducken, and even thought its first syllable can be a
little off-putting, it's a tasty thing! |
|
Judging
by all the Rudy rants, there seems to be a lot of New Yorkers in the
Keys. I thought those folks all lived in condos with names like Del Boca
Vista. What the hell are they doing in the Keys anyway? |

You’re saying that because you can afford health insurance and don’t
like waiting in a Doctor’s office that no one should have universal health
care? |

Gay Senator Larry Craig,
Michael Vick, the Kennedy's and all other rich

Funny how often the “Jesus defense” appears at the threshold of the

[Worlds Fair being held
Zaragosa, Spain.] Gee, everybody can go there and get captured by the
Ragheads. Spain is now about 75% Moslem and growing. It will be the next
Iraq/Iran front in a year. |

While
yellowtail fishing on the outside edge of the reef off Big Pine Key,
this young Boy Scout caught this fine and very under-rated Barracuda. The
young man was using 15lb test line and a monofilament leader. Everything had
to go just right to land this bad boy. Job well done; and a fine mess of
yellow tail to boot. The fish was released unharmed and no worse for the
ware. |

You are a sick, sick person
if you can call yourself a person. Not caring if a family member had a crack
problem and wanting them to die. What is wrong with you? Were you beat up a
lot when you were little? I now feel sorry for you. You need help
more then anyone. I guess you have never done anything you were sorry for. I
guess I will just call you Mr Wonderful. Please find yourself help and God
bless your family because they will need it having you around. |

[Justice]
I hope the sentencing judge in the Milo alligator killings follows
the Vick dog fighting case. Both crimes are equally as serious and both
should carry jail time.
Mr. Milo and Mr. Vick should be
locked in a cage with an alligator and one of Vick's fighting dogs. |
|
[Raccoons]
If there is an overabundance of raccoons in marsh rabbit habitat, they
should be removed. It is people who are responsible for the raccoon birth
rate explosion. |

[Senator Craig] Why is it that more Republicans are being caught with
their pants down in the wrong places than Democrats are? |
|
How
come Bush is planning on asking for $50 billion dollars for
continuing the Iraq war before the Generals give their report? It
seems he’s asking everyone to not do anything until the report comes out,
yet he’s already planning on no withdraws and no Iraqi accountability. What
a sham. |

How about that creep arrested in KW for exposing himself to children.
He has been arrested for the same thing many times and they still let him
roam free. |
Love, Magic and Pirates, Mostly.
Yesterday morning, I received an email at
keysmyhome@hotmail.com
from the producer of a radio show out of Indianapolis, Indiana, close
to where my last wife is from and now lives.
Only the night before, I’d seen “Stardust” at Regal Cinema, about a magic
world that parallels a community in old England. A young man with a father
from the English community and a mother from the magic world goes into the
magic world and meets and falls in love with a woman who is a star that came
to this world like a meteor. Literally. He’s in love with a girl in the
English community, but of course, there would be no story to tell, if it
remains that way. A great deal of intrigue and plenty of good and bad men
and women with somewhat different faculties than mere human beings enjoy...GoodMorningKeyWest.com |

After 15 years Code enforcement are after me. Florida Keys stilt homeowners
with under house apartments are getting persecuted like the Jewish people
of World War II. Everything they and their families have worked for all
their lives are being taken away by Code enforcement, destroying our homes
and livelihood. |

If Jordan Milo is really a
sergeant, this is a sad reflection on the standards of our modern
volunteer army. The cruelty is bad enough. His lack of judgment in doing
such a thing is perhaps even more disturbing. Assuming he is a sergeant in
the military, would you want this young man in charge of your son or
daughter in a combat situation? I think not. |

[Universal health care] I'm
confused by the Hillary hater who says come on up to Canada, but then says
he lives in the USA. Whichever it is, I've been to every one of the
countries he indicates are bad places to live. I have met happy, fun and
outgoing people in each of them who are proud of their heritage and love
their respective countries. They don't need a huge military because Uncle
Sucker takes care of that with our tax dollars. Japan is a great example of
building an economic powerhouse while we have defended them for the past 62
years.
I'm happy that we both can afford our expensive health insurance, but don't
you have any sympathy for the millions around you who can't? (On second
thought, don't go there.) We may have “got ours” but I don't mind a little
redistribution of tax revenues--more to the needs at home and less to
boondoggles like Iraq. Notice that I didn't propose taking one extra cent
out of your stingy pocket with a tax increase. |

Ever
watch a rabbit run? Ever watch a rabbit trick a dog and circle back on
the trail and hear the dog in the distance yelping, having lost the scent?
Have you ever seen a raccoon run? So what do these raccoons do? Sneak up on
rabbits and pounce?
I
know after all these years of animal study, all these Universities studying
wildlife, there must be a study to back up the Wildlife Refuge's notion that
these Keys Raccoons are rabbit hunters. Where is the study? Show it to us.
In the old days Indians, settlers and sailors would do a burn on the upwind
side of the islands and wait on the down wind side and catch the deer,
raccoons, rabbits and whatever other protein came out of the fire. Hunger
was the driving force. The hunters moved on.
Now we have autos killing raccoons at a fairly good rate though not fast
enough for the “Refuge” people. The Wildlife “refuge” now has become hunters
with traps for the wildlife that have been here in the lower keys since the
melt of the ice age 6-8 thousand years ago. The animals have adapted to
vegetation and environment, the small and tough surviving.
The Great White Heron Wildlife Refuge and The Key West Wildlife Refuge are
just that. They are set up for protecting the environment, wildlife and
keeping exotic species from overwhelming the lands around us (who are the
most exotic of all). |

How many people got sea lice at Picnic Island this past weekend? |
|
[Raccoons] I thought the raccoons were being killed by a virus. Isn’t
that what I’ve read about six months ago? What...they recovered from the
deadly virus so they are now being killed by those that are supposed to
protect them? This conservation thing is really confusing. |

In his first major foreign policy speech as president, Nicolas Sarkozy of

live up to its international obligations to curb its nuclear program. |

[$350-$400
per mo. health care] When you’re partially right, you’re partially
right. The estimate I posted was nothing more than my wild ass guess. That
guess was my belief as to what the additional tax burden for the average
person might be under Hills’ Health Care Plan. On further reflection I
concede that my guess was probably low, very, very low. It’s kind of hard
to make a really sharp guess because we haven’t been told what her plan
might be, or what she estimates the costs might be. I suppose she’s just
been too busy. You’re absolutely right about the government pissing away
money. As I recall the Dems promised to do away with “set asides”, aka
“earmarks” aka “pork barrel projects”. I don’t recall any Dem sponsored
legislation about that, do you?
When
you’re wrong, you’re wrong. I really hate to be disagreeable, but we
already have tax payer paid health care in place. After all, Medicaid
provides tax payer paid health care services for the poor. Remember
Medicare, tax payer paid health care for old farts? Isn’t it true that an
emergency room cannot deny you emergency care even if you can’t pay?
Kudos
to the poster who wrote so well of Canada’s health care system, it’s a real
eye opener and an accurate forecast of what’s in store for you and I if we
adopt their system.
I
believe that many people simply don’t want to pay the freight for their own
health care. These people want some one else to pay their health care
costs. Far too many folks choose to spend their bucks on new cars, boats,
cell phones, plasma TV’s, etc, rather than spending their bucks on health
care insurance. Admit it, how many people do you know who live high on the
hog, make good bucks, but don’t bother with health insurance? These folks
should live with the consequences of their decisions; you and I shouldn’t be
forced to subsidize their life style by paying for their health care. The
issue of reducing health care costs is an entirely different beast that
needs discussion.
By
the way, it's a damned shame about the market, employment, inflation, and
that damned surge isn't it! |

[Senator Craig] The Republican Party, the holier-then-thou self
proclaimed guardians of our morality and patriotism, have once again shown
their true colors. It turns out they are not much different then those of
any other population. |

There was a big battle yesterday
between Shia fighting Shia. 50 people were killed and a bunch more
wounded.
They can’t even agree with themselves, how are they supposed to get along
with their historical enemies? The US should pull out now! This is a
political fiasco with our soldiers dying for no reason, but Bush’s ego. He’s
a madman. |
