I know a person who is fat and ugly and not too smart, but he gambles all his money away. When I confronted him about always being broke (he has a very good job) he admitted that when in a casino He’s the man. He says it’s the only time in his life that he feels important and admired. Sad. |
| 30 | The work mule is giving methodical thought to the wind as he meanders down this narrow path called life, taking his time as no one can force him to hurry. As he ambles taking in the day he calls his own he contemplates the contents of his next bellowing. Not to stumble and fall down the face of the adjacent cliff into the abyss below. |

Someone out there must have an old picture of this area or the people and events. that picture yesterday of Roy boy was good. |

Why would you call the person a "nut" because she wants to
socialize her doggie? Dog are pack animals! Did you know that
dogs get hip dysphasia and arthritis which causes great pain and
suffering and dog yoga, acupuncture and even water aerobics helps
the pain? Your dog is probably an out-to-pasture-yard-dog, never
walked and is probably afraid of a squeaky toy. I bet you'll shoot
it when it gets old and sickly. Why would you even have a dog?
Just go get another alcoholic beverage, pop another downer and
continue to neglect your teeth and physical health. Have another
cigarette! Big Pine is NOT dog-friendly at all, even the pet
(bird) store, the cheap video rental store & Bealls won't allow
dogs. But the colorful ice cream store will allow you to bring in
doggie who can watch you enjoy a yummy hot fudge sundae.

RE: WORK MULE:
No, we do not have to end our conversation, but just remember "Be
careful what you wish for!" The most important point that your mule
brain can't seem to comprehend is that Women marched for their
rights as individuals and in the long run their success was and is
of benefit to you men! You were liberated as well, but unfortunately
that is a point that is not discussed in the barnyard! As far as
allowing you to gently nudge my bare BRALESS BREASTS, you would have
to prove that it would be beneficial to me as well; or no go,
Charlie Brown. I do not need you or any man to support my needs now
or in the future! You did make one good point in your retort:
shipping you off to the glue factor might be the answer depending on
how much the price is per pound for Mule Meat! |
| 29 | To the person who wants to dog-socialize, the only place is Picnic Island and I shall e-mail you with the few dog Beaches which are usually empty because most of the dogs down here are just yard dogs and not companion animals or part of the family. There's also the Historic Seaport District in Key West where dogs gets about hundred pets on the head from visitors who miss their doggies back home. |

The
real Roy Boy at the first (and last) |
| 29 |
AHHHH, such pleasant confusion. Which coffee shop? Porcelan bowls or
poop on the road? Bra or no bra? God (which one?) or KKK. Roy Boy or
Red sox? It just boggles my tired old mind. Try this-- Royal
Newman (aka red sox aka
"oh, my goodness" ) owned the Property at No Name Pub for many
years, but did not operate it. He also owned Halcyon Trailer park,
and built the Sandbar. He passed away some years ago and, rumor
says, is missed by very few. In 1986 ROY BOY (the real one) and some
wonderful people I am fortunate to call friends took over operation
(1 yr lease) of NO NAME PUB, and made it "A nice place, if you can
find it." After 4 years of hard work greatly increased business and
reputation, I was evicted. Replaced by a new "Manager of the Month"
program. Royal thought he could run it and nobody would notice my
friends and I were gone. WRONG!
As to the MAGNIFICENT TOBIAS McGREGOR CATCH HIM AT THE HOGFISH on Stock Island at Safe Harbor Marina (where his art Studio is) on Thursday Evenings. his unique talent can also be enjoyed Friday at dinner at BLUE HEAVEN DOWNTOWN K.W. These things I know to be true as I AM the real ROY BOY, CURRENTLY LIVING IN AZ. for health reasons; and can't wait to return to my favorite place and people, THE BIG ISLAND. Love to ya'll. |
| 29 | ONCE AND FOR ALL: Roy Boy is the one with the rough voice, and does commercials for Sloppy Joes, Royal is the one who wore Red socks and was standing by a fire when a can of hair spray blew up and hit him in the nuts. Does Beckey still have a nice butt? Does anyone out there know? |
| 29 | Yes, Roy Boy and Royal were two separate people. I do not believe Roy Boy actually owned the Pub, he just managed it until the rift between him and Royal. Roy Boy is tall and slender, or was when I knew him. Royal was White haired, shorter and more filled out. Hope this helps |

I'm with the person who said they are tired of the restaurant bashing. Why do you guys keep doing this? Have you ever stopped to think that those poor people at both the Cracked Egg and the Coffee Shop work really hard to try to give us locals a good place to eat. Like he/she said, everyone has their favorites. Who really cares. An opinion is like a hemorrhoid. Every ass has one. Instead of bashing, why don't we decide to be grateful that both places are trying to do the best they can. Let it go guys. |
| 28 |
I'm tired of your restaurant
bashing we all have our favorite place here. I like both Cracked
Egg and the Big Pine Coffee Shop. Please quit with the
negatives. Try to realize that you aren't the only opinion that
matters. I enjoy BOTH places just as many others
do.
|
| 28 | The restaurant bashing is stupid. A thoughtful critique of food and service is helpful to us all. Vicious bashing does no good to anyone except the vicious. |
| 28 |
A local teen died on Monday June 21. His name was
Kyle. His death was another tragic event for our local kids
and of course his family. Every young person should know that they
are not invincible. Please pray for his family. They will never be
the same.
|
| 28 |
I love Toby McGregor's music. Is he playing somewhere
locally? I don't do the Key West "Duval Crawl" so I am a bit
isolated, but I would drive in to hear him play without hesitation.
I I would appreciate any info.
|
| 28 | PORCELAIN Bowls: We humans are the only animal on the planet that use a porcelain bowl, when we poop. I think you should just leave the dog poop on the side of the road where it belongs so the flys can eat to. I noticed whenever I go to cook a hamburger on the grill the flys show up as well, its just natural, so get into it. Quit sweating the details. Just step around it while exhaleing. These are the FLORIDA KEYS not a sanitary plastic bubble. |
| 28 | Poop. Leave it in the road. If it's on the grass I'll step in it! |
| 28 |
There is some confusion re: Roy boy. The Roy boy and Royal
are not the same. Royal, also
owned the No Name Pub (and the Sand Bar) He wore red socks was born
in NYC.
He passes away about 6 or 7 yrs. ago. Can anyone else out there
confirm this info?
|
| 28 | RE TRASH along the side of the road. My theory, at least for beer cans and bottles, is getting pulled over by the cops. Oh, and there you are with your car full of beer cans or not! It's the toss-and-go-when-your-finished policy. Why give the dirty pennys an excuse to give you a breath test? Just show them your aqua fresh smile. |
| 28 |
There was a feature about these dog-nuts having yoga classes with their dogs. “To spend some quality time with our pets.” They’re stretching and going thru all the positions together. How cute. Maybe the lady who wants her new pup to socialize should go to that other nut’s yoga class. |
| Sunday June 27 2004 |
I'm just wondering if there are any PEOPLE with Dogs
that are interested in social events. See, I just purchased a new
pup and I'm looking to socialize him, THERE IS NOTHING for dogs to
do down here.
I was thinking maybe we could all get together and do
group walks. "Doggie parties."Please email me at
ootygerlillyoo@myownemail.com just to let me know if
you're interested. Maybe we'll get enough people together and get
something going!

| 27 | Fund raiser for Frannie . Frannie is a local Keys resident that has gotten ill and needs our help. Food, Fun and music. Looe Key Tiki Bar. Sun June 27 @ 3:00 till? Donations or a dish will be gladly appreciated. See y'all there! |
| 27 | RE: WORK MULE. Must we end our delightful little conversation, just now? I don't beleive I have quite finished braying yet. I'd just like to know one more thing. Would you, being the LIBERATED model of womanhood; and after having used me all up when my working days were over; turn me out to pasture under the shade of a willow tree? Feeding me a handful of oats and giving me a gentle pat on the head saying "There, there now, you old mule" And allowing me to gently nudge your bare BRALESS breasts. At the end of my hard working life as a stupid, lowly, ignorant, good for working only to provide for you and your needs would you ship me off to the glue factory for one last spurt of financial support? |
| 27 |
The Real Roy-Boy. The one and only original
voice of Sloppy Joe's. They are saying is not the same one in Arizona.
Well you're wrong. It is him. Still that same RoyBoy we all know and
love. The once owner of the No Named Pub. Proud friend of Toby
McGergor and Mary Spear, foggy vocals and all. I am sure because I
talk to him often and have known him since the 60's when he slept on
the floor in my room at McGuire AFB in NJ. We've stayed close ever
since. Gonna' be in Key West in November of '04 and hope to have him
with me. Bill Tuthill vetshope@yahoo.com |
| 27 | I have something to say. Thanks to those early morning walkers, bag in hand, picking up the litter along our streets. I see them, bag in hand, picking up trash tossed out of car windows, some trash with Mickey D or Burger King logos and the beer and soda cans as well. If those "litterbugs" were "human beings" they would think and dispose of their trash in a litter can available at any convenience store and also W/D parking lot. Or how about their garbage can. Can you imagine how much trash would be lying around and making quite an eye-sore if these locals would not clean up after these disposable people cluttering our beautiful paradise; and leaving it without even thinking about the mess they left behind? And to those people who "run their dogs" for their morning and evening duty to be done; please let your dog dump in the grass and not huge plops in the street. There are piles of plop-plops on Hibiscus that stink and draws the flies. The rains will eventually come, but now is Fly Season, and some of those flies should follow those "Plop Droppers" home to their front door and bug them. |
| 27 | Give it a rest about pitting the Cracked Egg and the Big Pine Coffee Shop against each other. They're both good and both reasonably priced. |
| 27 |
I'm tired of your restaurant bashing we all have our
favorite place here. I like both Cracked Egg and the Big
Pine Coffee Shop.
|
| 27 |
I'll also bet that the glowing praise yesterday for the BIG PINE
COFFEE SHOP was written by the owners too. Who the heck cares
what the place looks like. The food stinks and that's why I go to
the CRACKED EGG. Good, fast, food. Work on your food COFFEE
SHOP not your appearance.
|
| Saturday June 26 2004 |
I’ll bet that that glowing praise for the BP Coffee Shop in yesterday’s column was written by the owner as many of the glowing reports printed here seem to be. |

Little Palms Brunch: The Sunday brunch and the atmosphere are the only things going for the resort. Otherwise the portions for the dinner menu are so tiny to be embarrassing and they’re served on giant plates that make the portions look even smaller. |

| 26 | Now they've gone and done it! They got the wimmen all riled up on B.P.K. This could get very ugly. Could be a lot of guys sleeping on couches; or worse yet, get the wimmen turnin' gay--ouch! Double ouch! Keep your fingers crossed that it'll settle down soon. Please! |
| 26 | DIVIDE AND CONQUER? Well I shall be attending the movie Fahrenheit 9/11. Can anyone out there explain to me what is the definition of divide and conquer as in warfare? Looks as though it will be a Bush slamming, or perhaps there is a larger overall picture. Hmmm, oh dear, the power to wonder. A nasty thing indeed. Perhaps it is sophomoric of me to ask, but you see, I really have no formal education, as it were, although I am capable of thought on my own, without government intervention. |
| 26 |
RE: WORK MULE. Mules are the lowest form of
work animal so at least you are intelligent enough to recognize your
place in life. Face reality. The days of male domination are over.
Too bad I can't say the same for their pompous arrogance! End of
discussion. I rest my case. Have a great day and don't forget to He
Haw! You do it so well!
|
| 26 |
As I was taking a walk thru Eden pines on Thursday
June 24th. Iwas waking down Palm Avenue and noticed a very bad
smell. I was looking around for maybe a dead animal when all of a
sudden I looked up and there was a bag hanging in a tree with what
appeared to be a dead animal. I only hope it wasn't that;
because I hope we don’t have a little sick-o in Eden Pines
torturing animals. Did any one else see this? The next day it was
gone.

To the Piner with the neighbor that kills iguanas: Give him a recipe. If it's the iguanas he's dumping in the canal--also a medal! |
| 26 |
Killing iguanas is all right because they eat all the flowers, but dumping in the canal is a crime! |
| 26 |
re: Poncho. He was making so much money at WD
they could no longer afford him. They
offered him a deal he could not refuse. So he took
his golden umbrella down Mexico way.

I have been watching your banter about restaurants and cannot resist the following comments. First of all have you all lost your minds? How could you even begin to compare the Cracked Egg to the Big Pine Restaurant? I realize we live on an island but you people must be living under a rock. Have you not noticed the positive changes at the Big Pine Restaurant in the past 3 years? The new owners have fixed the place up beautifully. The food, service and cleanliness is always great. The staff is friendly and very attentive. I go there often for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and I have never had a bad meal. To those of you who have not been there recently, I suggest you give the place a try. I can tell you one thing for sure, you won't be disappointed. Many Thanks to the owners for giving the locals of Big Pine a great place to eat. |
| 25 | (Mystery Message?) Eric is in China. They will be open July 1st. |
| 25 |
I just wanted to say that I am the one who started
the "Steve Miller" controversy. It was meant as a
non-malicious joke and I truly think that Steve is a
wonderful guy and I hope perhaps we stirred up a few dates for this
hard working father! Maybe we should have a drink if you can ever
find the time! You rock Steve and by the way I haven't seen you for
your haircut yet!
|
| 25 |
Oh Yeah!!! Keep the thousands of visitors coming to
congest our already dangerous road and leave trash and human
excrement all over. Oh yeah! Keep 'em com'n. You fools!
|
| 25 | DONDE ESTA?? Does anyone out there know what happened to my good buddy PANCHO that used to work at Winn Dixie? Amazing watching him climb the corporate ladder. Perhaps he has been relocated to corporate headquarters and is making $40,000 a year--plus 'Atta boy Pancho and a hearty pat on the back. |

Bpk.com
has gotten so interesting, I even like some of the Whiners! It sure
is better than reading the Mullet Wrapper. Nice to keep in touch
with my favorite place in the world from so far away. Keep up the
good work you'll do just fine.
(By the way, McClainiac needs a new keyboard, his spacebar puked. Anybody out there that can help him?) |
| 25 | RE: SCREW women's lib. I trust you give your hard working man a good back rub now and then and take a nice pony ride too. And I hope he treats you like the queen you sound like you are. That means a lot of respect and love. That's nice to hear there is one, such as yourself, out there. |
| 25 |
Re:
Women's Lib Where
is it written that women have to cook, have to clean, have to do the
laundry and have to be the nurturer of their man's every need? The
word is CHOICE.
Today we have a CHOICE because of women like myself who stood up for
women like you so you may have that right. I hope I didn't burn my
bra for nothing! |
| 25 |
1. Does anybody know a Gym close by which sells day
passes? My next visitor needs a Stairmaster every other day.
2. He will be taking me out to dinner on Little Palm Island unless you guys tell me otherwise. The $115 brunch for two was awful & there was no chef in a big white hat cooking omelet's! Please tell me they can do a nice dinner & not gouge my handsome visitor too bad. |
| 25 | FATHERS DAY: Oh, me lucky charms! I glanced down at me feet and, low and behold, my shoes are on backwards. I trust its o.k. with you dear enchantress that I still send money so you can go on weekend trollops and continue to pay all the bills etc. Just as long as you have your equal rights. Your loving WORK MULE! heeeeeeeey, haaaaaaaaaw! heeeeeeeeee, haaaaaaaaw! |
| 25 |
As an out of towner I find it
obnoxiously rude of your correspondent to blame us oots for any
rudeness suffered by local yokels when eating at their favourite
(or otherwise) place of refreshment. I think this person is very
rude and without manners. A gentleperson would totally ignore any
gratuitous rudeness and behave as we English do. Forgive them for
they do not know any better, if this remedy fails, you can always
smack them in the mouth.
|
| 25 | Any advice for a Piner that has a neighbor that dumps in the canal & kills iguanas? |
| 25 | "Spend the effort on humans in need"? When was the last time you spent the effort on humans in need? Give me a break! Tell me how much you pay to help humans in need or tell me how many hours you volunteer to help humans in need. Then I may listen to you. |
| 25 | Thank you Roberto! That was the best watermelon I ever had! Piners appreciate that you are here all through the summer with the best produce and a wonderful smile! |
| Thursday June 24 2004 |
(Ed: Happy Days! Bigpinekey.com had more than 5,500 visitors in June who were interested in our small group of islands. That's up from 4,000 the month before. You all are helping. Thank you.) |
| 24 |
Re: Father's Day. Respect is
something that is to be earned! And as the old saying goes, if
the shoe fits wear it! The days of male domination are over once and
for all.......so, get with the program.
|
| 24 | HOME FOR CATS: call Eric at 872-8861. I think he is looking for a cat or two; or stop by and ask him. He is at China Garden up in the Big Pine Key shopping plaza. By the way, aren't things looking wonderful up there as of late? |
| 24 | Screw women's lib. I like my man to be more than a mere male! Here's to females being nurturers and males being protectors and providers! I'm a young woman and I'm proud and grateful to take loving care of my husband and home. |
| 24 |
Please find room in your hearts to put all those unwanted cats and kittens in a bag with a brick and dump it overboard. End of problem. Spend the effort on humans in need. |
| Wednesday June 23 2004 |
Please find room in your home & heart for one or two of the many cats & kittens at our local animal shelter. Please call 872-3412 for more information. |
| 23 | FATHERS DAY: I'll tell ya' why there was no mention of fathers day on the postings--lack of RESPECT that's why. Men have been reduced to mere males. The main difference between the sexes now is a penis or vagina. Nothin' more. In most cases that is not all, mind you. |
| 23 | Joannie is up in heaven floating on one of those clouds having Mimosas or a Bloody Mary; and having as good a time as she did here with a lot of her friends. Those were defiantly the good old days! |
| 23 | As an IDIOT I was reading in the Key West Alarmist, oops, I mean Citizen. They are barking that they are going to start towing the little boats anchored out in the seaplane basin in which people live. On one hand you complain and whine about housing shortages. One viable solution is living aboard your floating casa. Hmmmmm, so should they carry out their threat? Where do you suppose they will put them? Might I suggest New Found Harbor? And I'm an Idiot! You know ya' really gott'a love this place. It's an outdoor insane asylum, and I'm thinking asylum should be spelled with two S's. What a freak show. |
| 23 |
Hey, if you do not like our restaurants here--cook
at home.
We locals like and support them all. My favorite meal
in a restaurant is when I am surrounded by locals, so summertime is
great because there are very few rude out-of-towners in our way.

Comcast SUCKS! The cable is out the 3rd time
this week!
|
| 23 | Yep, Comcast was out again last night, but did you know that if there is an outage that if you call Comcast that they will give you credit fot that day off your bill? |
| Tuesday June 22 2004 |
I sure am glad I can cook my own breakfast and not have to fret all day about some imaginary conspiracy between wait staff at TWO different coffee shops. You people should have been here when Sweet Joannie ran Mr. Jims (before it was Island Jims) and the sign on the door said CLOSED all the time, but really meant open 6 to 9 --NOT 9:02 AM; and inside said FREE LUNCH and NOBODY ever ran out of coffee or anything! Bless you Joannie wherever you are. It was THE ONLY place worthy of being called a coffee shop or a breakfast joint. I guess that was before so many of you Whiners even lived here. Too bad things don't always change for the better. |
| 22 | Happy Belated Fathers' Day! Happy now? |
| 22 | Happy Belated Fathers' Day to all you dads out there. |

STINKEYVILLE
ARMPIT: Goodness gracious, I had to focus my blurry eyes a couple
of times. At first glance of photo I was beginning to become sexually
aroused, oh and then the cruel reality, oh well, to answer your
question about odors and deodorant maybe being the culprits for cancer
I have the following to say: If you listened to everything everyone
had to say about cancer you would eat and drink nothing on this
planet, nor would you breath in the air. Who was it that said "Eat
drink and be merry for tomorrow we shall die"? So cheers! I believe I
shall go guzzle some gin, eat a juicy steak, and try and convince my
girlfriend to engage in mutual sexual release. |
| 22 | I'm very happy that the Support our Troops booth will be set up again this year at the July 3d celebration. We do need to support our troops 100%. |
| 22 |
Hey Big Pine! Keys Shipping &
Business Center has moved to the Winn Dixie Shopping Plaza. We
are next to the Pawn Shop where the old gym used to be.
Phone and fax numbers are the same. Come by and see us!
|
| 22 |
I don't think they rush you in and out like cattle at the Cracked
Egg cafe. I call it quality wait staff and probably the best
breakfast cooks I've ever seen. That guy is quick. The BP
Coffee Shop probably makes you wait 10 minutes for a cup of
coffee because all of their wait staff is the cracked eggs rejects
that couldn't cut the mustard (no pun intended) Cracked Egg
rocks for breakfast ,the BP Coffee Shop should stick to
dinners.
|
| 22 | Cables out again. COMCAST SUCKS! |
| Monday June 21 2004 |
I'm more than a little disappointed that among all
the crap in today's(6/20) "KUDOS" THAT NOBODY SAID
HAPPY FATHERS DAY! WHAT'S
UP WITH THAT?
|
| 21 |
St. Francis Episcopal Church is building a new 2500 sq ft hall and the Lord of the Seas Lutheran’s are building a whole new church and tearing down the old dome. It’s a busy time for churches on Key Deer Blvd. Congratulations to both. |
| 21 | I didn't have any "agenda". All I wanted was my breakfast and I think 10 minutes without anyone asking if I wanted a cup of coffee was too long. |
| 21 |
The last time we went to the BIG PINE COFFEE SHOP
we were rushed out and constantly stared at by female owner. We
will not go back.
|
| 21 | It’s a miracle! I just paid $1.35 for a 2 page fax to Key West at the internet café (where US1 radio is). That’s cheap for around here. The place opened up at the end of October last year. Well done you guys – we needed you here. |
| Father's Day June 20 2004 |
Hey,
to the person who said boycott the 4th of July Festival, you are
wrong. I would prefer if it was on Sunday. Since it is on Saturday I
will set up there and celebrate. Last year many helped with my
Support the troops booth. This year I will be there to have
free flags and stickers to support our troops and be happy that we
are in the USA. Never forget FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. |
| 20 |
To everyone that is unhappy with The July 3rd
celebration. Look we are dealing with the Rotary. Your lucky
they are celebrating it in July. Just lucky they aren't pitching up
scotch bottles and shooting at them. I know the Rotarians are a
wonderful bunch of folks. Happy 3rd. of July. Damn Them...
|
| 20 | Who decided to celebrate the 4th of July on the 3d? Was it more convenient for them and not us? |
| 20 | Rotary Club take note. We want the 4th of July celebrated on the 4th! |
| 20 | Cracked Egg will never be as good as the BP Coffee Shop in my humble opinion. If you enjoy hearing bitching & griping all the time then Cracked Egg may be your ideal spot. You get a meal you are encouraged to gulp down so you can get the hell out to make room for the next captive victim. Hearing what crap the "girls" have had to put up with from Helen and hear who got the drunkest the night before doesn't do much for my appetite. But.....if a relaxed meal served by a refreshing efficient wait staff (especially love that Kelly) is more to your liking then I dare you to go yourself and compare the two. I'd be willing to wager the Coffee Shop will win hands down. Hell Yeah! |
| 20 | The person who says they couldn't get waited on at BP Dinner (Coffee Shop) must have an agenda as the food and service at BPD have been great. The owner does everything to make things enjoyable. Cracked Egg is also very good. We are lucky to have them both. |

Are there any Big Piners from the class of '84 going to 20yr reunion interested in sharing a limo transport to sat nite gala? We have 4 people for an 8 person limo, email bkoltunak@juno.com |
| 19 |
Once again, for all non-readers and
non-Americans--Independence Day is, and always has been on July 4
not July 3d! Why is this so hard for some people to understand?
GOD (who ever yours is) BLESS AMERICA AND ALL AMERICANS. |
| 19 | Boycott the 3d of July Fireworks. Don't look up! |

Re: Stinky Armpits:
We live on actual real little islands here. Seagrass and it's
occasional smell is just the nature of things. It comes in, it goes
out, it's a natural occurrence that any average intelligent person
would know before buying property in the Keys. There are condo's being
built right next to the dump on Stock Island. I guarantee you those
places are selling like hotcakes and I'll bet you that there are
doctors and lawyers that live in some of them. I'll bet you if they
build them right on top of that dump they would sell for the highest
price of all cause the views would be panoramic and magnificent up
there. Do you think that people who live in rural farm areas up north
don't understand first they may get an occasional whiff of manure or
some other farm smell. Do you think that causes cancer as well? By the
way a cure for your armpit stink problem is simple deodorant. But you
know what it's possible, deodorant causes cancer too. Watch out for
those land crabs. I'll bet they create quite a stink when they die.
You wouldn't want one to crawl under you house and end its days there. |
| 19 |
Big Pine Coffee Shop has the BEST pattymelts /
cheeseburgers / angus beef in The Keys and the service has always
been very attentive. Great home-made breakfast too! Ruth's
Chris $ Steak House seems to turn their tables as quickly as
possible, where BP Coffee Shop doesn't rush you out the door &
that's why I try to over-tip the efficient waitresses who have yet
to ignore this hyper-critical epicurean.

I was so glad to see
praise for Steve Miller--a few months ago I teased him
because people were ragging on him--he does not deserve it--he is a
sweet guy, and I love hearing all of the women swoon over him--if I
were single, he would be first on my list. It is obvious that he is
a good father with his children first on his mind, and I hope that
he finds a wonderful woman.
|
| 19 | It's time to let all this talk about STEVE MILLER go. He is a wonderful man and father. Any girl would be lucky to be with him. And I must say...... he is a GREAT KISSER! |

Advice to the Big Pine Office Supply: No one knows you are
now at WD Shopping Plaza.
Good luck.

| 18 | STINKEYVILLE: Real estate agent please notice I used the words "not likely" in respect to disclosure regarding seaweed and associated stink, thus allowing room for a shadow of doubt. Bravo; and my hat's off to you for your voiced integrity. As for my lack of tact, perhaps, however my concern was for new potential buyers more so then existing owners. I wonder if a poll were cast how many of them knew about the potential stink prior to there purchase. I think it would be interesting, as well, to have a study on health hazards that may be associated with the continual inhaling, like it or not, of the stench. Cancer, lung disease etc. Thank you for your response. NO POKEY FUN! It can stink anywhere sometimes. Presently my armpits. |
| 18 | Realtors: I've had nothing but good experiences dealing with realtors in this area. The two I've dealt with were professional and caring. Now if only someone could find me a $150,000 house on the water... |
| 18 | Some things never change. After quite a long time we tried the BP Coffee Shop for breakfast again. When 10 minutes went by without a cup of coffee we left and went to the Cracked Egg and had our breakfast in front of us in under 10 minutes. |
| 18 | I think the rotary really messed up this time. July 4th is July 4th no matter what day it falls on. Sorry to say I knew July 4th was on a Sun. and I am not scheduled to work but I do work on Sat. July 3rd so I wont be there! |
| 18 | While we're moving traditional holidays, let's move Thanksgiving to Monday so we'll have a three day weekend. |
| Thursday June 17 2004 |
The people who scheduled the 4th of July fireworks on the 3d of July are probably the same people who always want to fill in water features on any new parks they want to build. |

RE: Stinkeyville long winded
tome.
I am a Real Estate Agent, and I DO
inform Buyers of the smelly side of the island, as well as the
navigational hazards associated with the floating frothing mess.
However, to make fun of someone living on that side of the island
shows your lack of tact. Some people may not have a choice. I think
we should embrace those folks who are willing to put up with the
occasional stench. They do it because they LOVE IT here. They do it
because they WANT TO BE HERE! Not because they are ignorant saps as
you may think.

Let me know who else agrees that a few people on a committee should not have the right to change this holiday. Maybe we should celebrate Christmas in September to beat the holiday rush. |

Reading Katharine Vaccaro's The lighter side she mentioned a
community meeting in Eden Pines. Re: the water quality in our

notice put out so all in Eden Pines would be aware of the meeting?

Why would you allow misogynistic KKK bitter people to post
horribly-mean things here? That's not the point of this message

weirdo's who write toxic-spew on this lovely down-home forum for Big
Piners. Luckily, those types are few & far between & maybe he's
writing from prison.

| 12 | Dear Editor, Why don't you make another feature to go along with the "Long Winded Tome" feature and call it the "We Love Steve Miller Column"? Enough already! |
| 12 | I came from the beaches in So. Calif. some 25 years ago for a vacation, lasted 25 years and only left recently for health reasons. I discovered soon after arrival there were two kinds of women on Big Pine, those already taken and those nobody wanted! Whenever a couple split up it was like blood in shark filled waters! There were of course, a few quality exceptions among the ladies, not much different with the guys. From the look of things, it hasn't much changed over the years. I had the pleasure of meeting many of the quality people of both genders, and Steve Miller is one of the Good Guys. I won't mention names of the quality Ladies for their own protection from the sharks. The good guys are well known for the things they do. I had more true friends on the Big Island than any place I've been. Unfortunately , even Paradise has its really bad people--watch out for them! |
| 12 |
I know Steve Miller
personally, He is my big brother. Yes, he is single and has
three kids and is a super guy. Anyone that would get a date with

| 11 | What happened to Don on us radio 1? |
| 11 | STEVE MILLER appears to me to be a hard working, consistent, as the day is long, decent all around kind of guy, so tell me what in the world would these resentful , gold digging, drug using, wanting to abuse and to be abused females of Pig Pine and around these here parts in, low scrubby mosquito ridden, hot islands, want to have to do with a fellow like that? AYEEEEE! now take a fellow with a big bag o' dope in one hand, mean as a snake, and a bottle of whiskey in the other, willing to backhand a girl, then you'd have your own little flock of crack smoking, willing to perform various and sundry sexual acts for the next rock, and so on. So there, what do ya' think o' that? Steve, don't let 'em trick ya'. Check out my tica.com and get yourself a real woman. A nice dark haired beauty with a natural tan built in. No tattoos or other self-inflicted mutilations. Around 23 years of age smooth, young, lass, loving your children and all. Hang in there Stevie. You deserve the best. Don't get tricked by some coffee toting, man hater. Well, at least unless, you trick her first into at one date and see if you can get some free coochie, that would be a good trick ey? BEST -O-LUCK MATEY. |

Steve Miller works at Big Pine Liquors, does Biz Baz on Saturday at US1 Radio, and is active in the Big Pine Athletic Assoc and Little League, Monroe County Parks and Recreation Department, and is a great fund raiser for local causes, as well as emceeing all kind of events. He is also a single parent with three children. You might ask when he finds time to sleep, let alone date... |

Big Pine Key is the last of the way the Keys used to
be. I certainly hope it stays that way and doesn't become condo city
the way the rest of the keys are becoming. Glad to hear Roy Boy
is alive and well and still kickin' out in Arizona. He is missed by
the "Doc" in Marathon.
|
| 10 | Royboy.Isn't it amazing how stories change and grow over the years? Miss Lil passed away last year , just before her yearly trip to her beloved Island. No one could ever replace that feisty old broad. Sadly, Clyde was stolen in '98 when my apt in K.W. was burgled. K.W.'s finest couldn't find him or anything else that was stolen. Just to set the record straight, I'd probably still be at No Name Pub except for Doggie Doo and Red Sox, but sooner or later bad Karma does catch up with bad people! Fortunately, good Karma works for good people too, and there's still lots of the good around! Long and Happy lives to the real Big Piners. |
| 10 |
RoyBoy from Arizona is not the same
Royal who wore the red socks and owned No Name Pub
and the Sandbar. He passed away sometime ago, I
think before Hurricane George. Also you can find Steve Miller at the
Big Pine Liquor store, (he works there). Also, Sat. am he
does the Biz Baz show. Anyone out there who
needs to raise money for a good cause
can auction Steve off as a date. (of course with his
permission).

Thanx to Capt. Conch for directing me to Kudos
- whiners. I'm still new at this computer thing and sometimes
my machine acts weird. Its been awhile since I moved from the Big
Island to the big city of K.W. But the Big Pine area, especially my
early years on Cook Island before all the houses and my years at No
Name Pub were some of the best days of my life. (some of the worst
too) . It's obvious to me that the Big Piners still have the biggest
hearts and sense of community in the known universe: RE the McClain
Benefit. I can't wait till my health allows me to spend some time
at the most near perfect place I've ever parked my flip-flops. By
the way, why doesn't anyone sign their comments? What are you afraid
of? The Real Roy Boy
(Ed: We don't want this page to become a chat room where everyone uses a pen name instead of their real name anyway; and on an island this size it's best to remain anonymous! We find it best to refer to subject matter instead of pen names. We've included Royboy's name because he's an "oldie but goodie".) |
| 9 | Just tuning in. Roy Boy in Arizona? With grandson, how wonderful. More information on his well being please. |
| 9 | ROY BOY, have you got on your sunshine shoes? Where are ROYAL'S red socks? Didn't you used to caretake for Lil out on Cooks Island? I'm pretty sure that's you. I saw in some old pictures from out there. Hey, I did it for 3 years. What a great place it was. Is the story true about the 40 footer jammed up into the creek between Cooks and Long Beach? You rascal you. Hey did anyone ever find Clyde the key deer camel? Weren't you out at the pub around the same time as Dougie Doo and his triple beams and baggies? Boy, those were the days. What an era. It's getting more like West Palm Beach around here every day. Soon there will be a police officer of some kind for everyone. Just think your very own personal officer. Isn't that fun? Maybe a good hurricane will straighten things out around here once again, and put them where they belong. There's always hope, anyway. |

out grandson of Royboy by Shannon & Chris. Weather report from

To the Realroyboy...Its a nice place if you can find it. Yes
they're the same whiners as always plus a whole bunch of new ones to
compliment the old ones. You see they just can't grasp the concept
of the Keys and they're frustrated. Makes me sit back and laugh my
ass off. Party on Roy. --a long time Piner.

It used to be that when I saw a car swerving on the road I thought he was drunk. Now I think he must be on his cell phone. |
| 7 |
Here’s a new one. My tenant cut a hole in her laundry drain pipe because it was getting clogged. A black snake crawled in and got stuck; and died half in and half out of the pipe. I had to cut it out. What an awful task. It gave me the creeps, cutting and sawing. I hate anything to do with snakes. |
| 7 | Real Roy Boy. Is that the voice of Sloppy Joe's? And the former owner of No Name Pub? What ever is he doing in Arizona? |
| 7 | Re: flummoxed I am confused as to why you would have such an ignorant and ineffectual response to that persons question about getting to Key West from Big Pine by boat. It's obvious you aren't a man but must be a pig. |
| Sunday June 6 2004 |
Is this just a rumor or does kudos
and whiners really have the hot skinny on what's happening on the
Big Island? Maybe the desert heat here in The Valley of the Sun
(Arizona) has gotten to my brain or fried this new machine. (that
I'm still trying to figure out?) McClainiac told me you had the only
real news from B P, but my e-mails keep getting kicked back! Will
somebody please tell me what's going on? Are the whiners still the
same people? I'll be E-ing you. THEREALROYBOY

| 6 | Thank you for the 411 on boating. This single mom has charts, GPS & a bunch of expensive books on boating, but there’s nothing compared to experience. Even men who are novice boaters are intimidated by all of the details. Many wives are blissfully clueless as they watch their husbands dock and trailer the vessel. I cannot believe that motorcycle licenses are required, but dummies like myself can drive and trailer a boat of any size without one! I’m taking the 21 footer down to Key West on the Atlantic & I will be "flummoxed" if I live through this. Anyone up for a caravan sometime? Bring your doggie. Ahoy! |

Howdy Big Piners, I was fortunate to be among that wonderful crowd at Coconuts for the Jerry McClain benefit on May 23 and was mightily impressed with all the good karma flowing about. I came the length of the state to attend and don't imagine that set any records since good folks from far and wide seemed to be there for Jerry. Congratulations to all the sponsors and participants that came together in a terrific show of community for one of their own. |

The answer for the person asking if they
can DRIVE their boat from Big Pine to Key West without going into
the back country is simple. Leave it attached to your car. Drive 30
miles south on Highway 1 and you will be in Key West. Buy a chart.
It does help if you can read it.

From another Englishman. Reference my
countryman who is leaving America, please do not take offence, or at
least not too much.
Everyone has a point of view and most people fail to
recognize their own shortcomings. (me too) But I am trying, or at
least I have been told quite often that I am very trying.
Personally I do not believe this, I have heard
myself described as perfect, just yesterday an acquaintance said I
was a perfect idiot.
However getting back to the serious bit, I know lots
of Brits who would be delighted to be given the opportunity to live
with Uncle Sam, but not very many Americans who want to come and
live here in Blighty.
We do have some high profile Americans living here
and personally I would rather they did not. Madonna for example.
This ex-American, has bought up a sizeable tract of English
countryside and is now trying to get ancient rights-of-way
cancelled. This so passer-by's will not be able to see her
property.
You will gather from this that the export of
a--holes is not one way.

The reason the speed limit is kept that way is
so that the fwc can make money to keep those expensive four wheel
crew cabs that they have runing. It takes a lot of gas. And they can
go four-wheeling in their private reserves. Can't you all see that
all we are for them is fresh meat; that way they can rack up points
for them to get promotions and get pay increases. So keep that in
mind. Just obey the speed limit. We are now owned by them. We are
like the deer, the human deer, so that means fresh pickings!
