The Saudis are having a conference on Women's Rights where the woman are in another room and can only be seen on video. In Saudi Arabia the women go to Women's Banks and aren't even allowed to drive there. The only good thing about the driving prohibition is that there aren't any women drivers to piss the men off. Maybe we should look into this restriction. |

In regards to my entry re: "The Invaders" that are going to hurt
someone or get shot. I'm
referring to Canal on Little
Torch Key
off of SR4A where the public boat ramp
is. There are no swimmers
in the middle of the canals
where one would accelerate to plane a boat. Now I'm really scared
because that means the planing boat would plow through one of our
homes. It is approx. 1/4
mile with a left and a right
turn prior to reaching the opening to the channel.
Show us the law that says we cannot swim in the canals. And to the
folks in Pine Channel Estates:
you are absolutely correct. It is the homeowner's
responsibility to see that
their visitors abide by the laws of the land. Would it not be "his
problem" if his visitor docked his boat and unloaded a kazillion
pounds of pot or coke?
Would it not be his problem if his visitor killed his wife or child?
Would it not be his problem if his visitor burned his house
down? Right. Try toilet
paper, really ripe tomatoes and eggs. Or maybe give him
some helpful advise---Get you head out of you ASS.

The 19th century should be written all in 1900’s not 2000’s. The 21st century should all be 2100’s. Example: The year 1901 should be in the 19th century, but it’s not. It’s in the 20th century. Who do I complain to? |

Is it
just me or does anyone else find it absolutely amazing that the U.S.
government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago,
right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington, and
determine exactly what that cow ate. They can also track her calves
right to their stalls, and tell you what kind of feed they ate. But
they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around
in their country, including people that are trying to blow up
important structures in the U.S. My solution is to give every
illegal alien a cow as soon as they enter the country. |

To the idiot who thinks that the
yellow ribbons are overboard--originally, the yellow ribbons
were tied around the trees on the property of families that had
family in the war, and it is a symbol of hope that our family
members would come safely--for example, our home has four ribbons on
the trees that line our front yard, one for my father, two for my
brothers, and one for my cousin, just a few of the brave people that
are serving our country. Whether or not you agree with the war,
please be respectful of the many families that have every right to
show their worry and hope.

| 10 | The main thing I don’t like about Kerry is his Speech. He drones on like some old time politician, like Franklin Roosevelt or one of those other old wind bags. He doesn't speak to you like Clinton did. He orates. |
| Friday July 9 2004 |
To the guy who gave kudos to the County for fixing
that hole in front of the ball field...Doesn't it bother you that it
took our county a week and a half to actually fix one
hole and they still have not removed the old dirt pile! There are
about a thousand more holes on Key Deer Blvd so that means it will
take a very long time to fix them all. Wilder, a road less
traveled, was just repaved, and it nearly wasn't as bad as Key
Deer. One more thing, a memorial was erected on Watson road for a
neighbor of mine who was killed on a moped and the day after he was
killed the county quickly came out to repair the beam (bet they
thought they'd better fix it before someone else gets killed.) I
wish the County would GET OFF ITS ASS and fix the road before
someone else gets killed. Do I even have to mention the damage it
is doing to your car every time you drive down Key Deer? Like me,
don't you straddle the middle line when no traffic is coming the
other way to avoid the long line of pot holes on the edge of either
side of the road?

Regarding going too fast, was that in Pine channel this last
weekend off of Flying Cloud? Well, the kid on the jet ski didn't
know the rules. He was from West Palm, but he was staying at a
homeowners house on the road. When confronted, the homeowner didn't
want to hear about it. It wasn't his problem. Wrong answer. As
homeowners we have the responsibility to tell our visitors the rules
of the neighborhood.
|
| 9 |
To the person who swims in their canal. I agree
boats shouldn't go fast in private canals where homes are; and every consideration should be given to swimmers in the canals but it pisses me off when people are snorkeling right in the marked channels where boaters are coming in and out of. Most boats need to accelerate to get up on a plane so they can get through the shallow areas to get out to the main channels; at least it is that way where we live. Besides it being only common sense, I believe it is a law that snorkelers are not suppose to be in those channels. Under bridges isn't a good idea either. |

How come the media didn't report
Hillary Clinton's speech in San Francisco? This is what she
said exactly:
"Many of you are well enough off that
... the tax cuts may have helped you," Clinton said, according to
the Associated Press. "We're saying that for America to get back on
track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it
to you. "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the
common good."

To the gent with the questions: Well some things will always
remain mysterious. Those are four of them. l\Leave them that way.
|
| Thursday July 8 2004 |
After more than 25 years in the Lower
Keys, there are several mysterious questions that I haven't been
able to get answers for. Maybe someone in Cyberspace can help.
#1 -- Why is West Summerland Key
approx. 15 miles East of
Summerland Key?
#2 -- Duval Street, Key West.
Why is downtown to the North and up-town
to the
South?
#3 -- W h e r e is Bum Farto?
#4 --
Can Rebel or Big Red still pass the pencil test?

The inconsiderate
"invaders" that don't live here go up & down our canal all
frigging day long. Go waay
too fast! Way
to fast. I say our canal
because we are the folks that pay the taxes and outrageous insurance
premiums. We are the one's that maintain and care for our
surroundings, and pick up your trash.
We are not on vacation and work very hard to survive here. You are
eroding our seawalls and God help you if you ever run over one of
us whilst we are swimming in the canal. Yeah,
Bozo's we swim in the canals over here. Slow down or get the hell
out and go home. Many canals have 5mph signs posted. Please,
please take off your blinders before someone is hurt,
or shot! |
| 8 | I think it's overboard to have flags flying and yellow ribbons, etc. to show our support of our troops. Have you ever met anyone that DOESN'T support our troops? No. What we DON'T support is the war. I fly the flag every day regardless of the war or troops. |
| 8 | FLAG WAVING BIBLE BANGERS: Did you ever THINK that not all of us are buying into the LIES being perpetrated upon us by the current administration? This administration is a disgrace and an insult to anyone of even average intelligence. Open your eyes to see what is unfolding before you. |
| 8 |
Isn't it funny how after 9.11 everybody posted the colors (Flags)
all over their cars and lapels but don't vote in the
elections or follow simple etiquette? That's why I don't want to be
a Poll Worker again. You
work 14 hours for $100 to see about one-third of your community come
out to vote. I wonder how
many Big Piners vote & if the Editor
knows the percentage. Maybe
some of the people were waiting for a permit
for their flag poles...

Re: American flags. There are 20 houses on my road. 9 flags
proudly wave all year long. What better way to show our troops that
we care. FLY THE FLAG.
|
| 8 | Does anyone else who lives on Big Pine have bad TV reception on cable channel 6? |
| Wednesday July 7 2004 |
RE: AMERICAN FLAGS. Well, once again
it appears that my street failed the American Flag count. 2 houses.
My home and one other flew the Flag. How SAD! I am
certain, though, that the individuals who live in those homes didn't
forget to buy enough beer for the holiday week-end so they wouldn't
run out! God Bless America!

My apologies to the person who was not served quickly at lunch time at the Key Deer Fri. the 2nd. We had a substitute waitress for one week due to a vacation. I would enjoy treating you to lunch if you'd forgive us. Just holler and thank you for the constructive criticism. I'm here every day at lunch time . Thank you, Capt. Dan |
| 6 | Hi, I used to live in Port Pine Heights in the late 60's my name is Gerald Clark. I would like to hear from anyone that remembers me or my family. My father was the man that worked for the Kyle brothers running the crane and the bulldozer. I would also like some pictures of Port Pine Heights as I don't have any. When we lived there not very many people lived there. A couple of names I remember are John and Ruth Sharsh or Sharch; another one is Randy, but I can't remember his last name. We used to ride the bus to Marathon to go to school. We lived on the corner but I can't remember the name. If you have a map of Port Pine please send it to me. I remember they had a petting zoo at the building at the front with key deer in it. Please email me at jmantoo1@juno.com I would like to email with any one on Big Pine. When we lived there they only had one little store on the main road running thru Big Pine and my brother Ralph and I would ride our bikes there. If I'm right it was about 7 miles both ways. We used to stop at the springs on the way. Waiting to hear from you. Thank you, Gerald. |
| 6 | Out of ashes rebirth, freedom rises: at WTC...what a wonderful 4th of July. |

During the fireworks on Summerland Key a big black and white dog,
like a wire hair terrier got loose. Her name is Tootsie and she is
wearing a red collar and leash. She is missed dearly. If anyone has
seen her please call Glen at 745-3386. (Ed: attach a photo of your dog to an email and we'll print it to help find the dog.) |

The link to 9/11 tribute brought tears to my eyes. Thanks to
fellow citizen who sent it and thanks to Kudos for sharing.. We are
so lucky and have lived in the best times this country and world
will ever see.

That is a great site. Never forget. Very moving and to the point,
unfortunately people
are forgetting especially here because we are in our own little
world. It is easier to
put blinders on living in the Keys. As for myself and family we'll
never forget. Remember to support our troops they are
protecting all of us.
|

Thank you for the great letter on the cost of freedom.
|
| 6 | For the person who sent the web site Heroes to this web site, that was very moving and thought provoking. I thank you for bringing it to our attention. |
| 6 | Re Censorship: Thanx, you made my day. I knew it couldn't be the "C" word . My old eyes see the big print easier, but my new VA specs will be here in a short VA time. I don't type so fast so sometimes its quicker if all the letters are the same case. I promise I won't shout so loud in the future . Keep up the GOOD work, I'll be E-ing you later. |

Censorship? Two pictures I sent 3 July. In case there was a
technical problem I'll repeat the letter now even though it is after
the 4th of July. Please don't tell me censorship has infected Kudos
& Whiners.
To all Americans everywhere and to those countries or peoples who would try to do us harm: we celebrate our independence and celebrate for all independent people because we know freedom is not free and never has been. Our brave men and women still have to fight for it every day in far away lands and we are only free because they do. Whoever your God is please let him bless all mankind and this fragil world we live in. Independence Day is, and has been on the 4th of July no matter what the Rotary Club says. I'm proud to be an American and a veteran. (Ed: I didn't print this letter yesterday because it was all in capitol letters and I don't always have the time to retype them. All capitols look like shouting on the web and we try to keep this gossip column uniform looking. The two photos were posted, but due to an unfortunate technical problem they were not published. Here is one of them below. [the other is in cyberspace] We're sorry for the mess-up.) ![]() |

Can
you please put this link on the page. I'm hoping it will be on
today's page so it can remind people the sacrifices men and women
have made that enables us to celebrate today with parties, fire
works and friends. It is a long slide show, but very much worth
watching the whole thing. Your sound should be on
and
be prepared for some graphic images. I commend whoever
created this site; it really gets the point
across.

Publix is a fine place for you to shop. From Big Pine
there is a fine one in Key West but the one in Marathon is a lot
closer. I think The B.P. W-D has a pretty good crew doing the best
with what they have. Looks to me like they are cleaning up their act
some. Maybe getting ready for that flock of Snowbirds to come south.
I see they have a sign needing help! If your not happy with service
maybe you need to Apply. Just remember, I think, they require a Drug
test.

Kudos to the Monroe county public works dept. for fixing that sink hole in front of the ball field. |

Happy
Fourth of
July! |
| 4 | The Summerland fireworks were awesome...Way to go Big Pine Rotary. Everyone did a great job and everything went off perfect. Happy Independence day! |
| 4 |
Hey. What a Great fireworks display from
Summerland. Thank you to the Rotary for doing this.
To the person who needs yellow ribbons:
For my yard I use yellow cheap table clothes and cut
them in strips. They last well outside. I always have my
American flags proudly displayed. We always support our troops and
are happy to be free.
|
| 4 | The fireworks on Summerland were great; and thanks to having them on the 3rd, I can go to Key West tonight and enjoy theirs. Thanks Rotary club. |
| 4 | When finally all the people who support the service industry here in the Fabulous Florida Keys have been dismissed from having proper housing and can no longer continue in the cutsey-pie-life style of $400,000 shanties that are out of reach, being placed before them, what are the possible scenarios that you paint for a viable solution to affordable housing? I am stymied. Please tell me just how will it work? I know they bus workers from Florida City to Marathon, but the lower Keys and Key Weird? |

Glad to hear people are putting their flags out. And don't for get the yellow ribbons |
| 4 | RE: YELLOW RIBBONS. You can find yellow ribbons at Ben Franklin in Key West. They're located on North Roosevelt, near Smart and Final. Ben Franklin Island Crafts 2506 North Roosevelt Boulevard Key West, FL 33040 295-8450 |

For yellow ribbon try the Big Pine Florist. She is now on
US-1 going south-ocean side.
Last year she had I support our troops ribbons.
|
| 4 |
I do. I think The Big Ping Florist sells them.
(" the Support Your Troops" ribbons)
I got some there last year.
|
| 4 | PIGEONS: Yes, they are eaten in the Bahamas and elsewhere in the Caribbean. I recall watching a man In Cuba spin around at a shooting arcade and popping off a bird. In Casa Blanca, while waiting for the not so choo-choo electric train, in a crowd of people, he turns takes careful aim, shoots the bird, walks up to it and puts it in his pocket. I'm guessing later, birdy was resting peacefully on a plate with beans and rice. Thank you for reminding me of this survival option should it ever become necessary; however, as long as there is chicken at Winn Dixie, with free hormones and no additional charge for the added water, I don't think the pigeons have much to worry about. 'Round these her parts at least. |
| 4 | MS.VICIOUS: Where are you? Your not stumped for words are you; or having the crying jags or anything are you? |

I went into
Publix the other day. It was so strange to not find any mistakes
on my receipt. Everything was as it should be. No arguments, no hassles, no stress. |

![]() The White Crowned Pigeons have been in my neighborhood (on Big Pine) since April. Maybe your Poisonwood trees' berries aren't ripe enough yet. They feed on the Fig trees' berries until the Poisonwood's are ready to eat. |

HELP: Is there anyone out there who can tell me where
I can go to buy yellow ribbons for my trees in support of our
troops? Someone mentioned the American Legion, but anywhere else?

I went to key deer for lunch yesterday, and it was a disaster, by the
time a person arrived from the back room to take my order, I only
had 15min. of my lunch hour left.
I will never go there again.

Hey Mr. “men told me that” The Bible says that faith is the evidence of things not seen, but hey, somebody has to go to hell, might as well be you. |
| Friday July 2 2004 |
My poison wood trees are dripping with berrys and as yet there are almost no White Crowned pidgins here from the Bahamas to feed on them; like they usually do at this time of year. Where are they? |

Thanks for all the flags that are flying. I am proud to see each and every one of them. This is a thank you and a reminder that your flag should be flown at half mast thru the 4th. How about it Coldwell Banker. |

Roy Boy...a lot of people miss you, especially "Doc" in Marathon.

lately for selling drugs. We locals don't want them here. We are
