Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others. BUT, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took :

The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The religion out of schools,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement,
And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others !!!

Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner? Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts! Remember....inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the heck happened !

I recently received a message from a dear friend of mine in Canada who advises that the U.S. Postal Service confiscated his box of chocolates and Christmas Cake he sent to me as a gift for the festive season. When he questioned why theywould do such a thing, the explanation received was because of a directive from the U.S. "National Securities and Protection Agency" ? (I'm not certain of the correct title). He further confirms that "Google" has dropped any access that might have once been available to U.S. citizens who might wish to purchase cheaper Canadian prescription drugs over the internet. It seems somewhat strange that "Google" will allow pornography, firearms, alcohol, yes, and even penis enlargement to be made available, while denying the right of basic human needs. As for the chocolates, anyone who is on a strict diet and wishes to remain as such, might consider these as being......."Weapons of Ass Destruction".

There was a day when poor Old Granddad could tell his Grandchildren to go to the County Fair and have a Gay Old Time, that was before a certain group thought they would use the word because it made them feel more acceptable. How am I doing this time?

28	I just got a deposit on my Melonseed Skiff from a guy in Kansas. I didn't think there were any real bodies of water there, but he informed me that the Army Corps of Engineers have dug a number of recreational man made lakes, quarries and dams. There is actually a sailing club.

28	I'm working on a web site dedicated to razing awareness in the community of the plugged canal situation. There will be photos, articles, history, results of water quality studies, links to correspondence archives, contact information, etc. Maybe even a discussion forum for all the canal whiners who have a say and want to be heard. Anyone out there have any more ideas? We're looking for serious, constructive ideas, opinions and recommendations, especially ideas on how NOT to make this site boring. Today, while driving outside of the Keys, a little 5 year old girl (mind you 5 years old!!!) yelled at our car from the sidewalk "Hey next time you watch where you're going!" We never came close to this child or parent crossing the street yet the child felt compelled to be angry and to admonish us. Hmmm, wonder where she learned that behavior?????? All you adults with kids please take a moment to realize it only takes a moment to forever change who your child would have been!

Saturday December 13 2003	Congratulations to the Big Pine School -- they were granted permission by the School Board to accept students outside of Big Pine and to add the third grade. It is a first rate school, with a great teacher-to-student ratio, and good test scores. They are doing an outstanding job there and deserve all the support our community can offer.
13	Here's some refreshing news: According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antler still after they give birth in the spring. This has been a good forum for getting a consensus of how many people are out there who are willing to organize. And now this is being done. Wednesday December 4 2003	To the grandparent with the two grandson's, I sympathize with your terrible dilemma! most kid's I know the ages 8 and 10 are far from gay, mostly obnoxious brat's!, that still don't even know the meaning of the word gay! To those out there who don't like what they hear, grow up!
2	Regarding the Cahill Canals. They were dug in the 1970's, not as canals but as a land-locked borrow pit. That's why they were dug so deep (30-40 feet). And that's why they haven't been opened. The regulatory agencies have rules for canals. One of those rules is that canals cannot be that deep because of the lack of tidal water exchange, and the anaerobic conditions that develop in deep canals. The developer was told that if he wanted to open the borrow pit as a canal system, he would have to fill in the canals to the proper depth. No one wanted to pay to have the canals filled, so nothing has happened.
2	My Realtor, Jacqui, told me to AVOID plugged canals. We're moving over from San Diego & you kids have it pretty darn good, so be happy. SMILE! At least you're not freezing cold & dealing with fires, soot and ash in addition to these beautiful shallow granola-people here in California! Oh, and the 5ive lane highways where they drive 90 + mph. Where in heavens name are we going to RENT (while waiting to buy a 2/2 with dock) with a dog & three cats? Am I asking too much? ~Dana~

1	If you REALLY want the canals unplugged, go to the proper county office. Call the EPA, NOT the discussion board. So far, whining about it here over and over and over has obviously gotten you nowhere. Go figure!
